this game is alot better than the first harry potter game,
i love the fact that you can play quidditch, and that you learns spells throughout the game, the graphics are decent, and the tasks are challanging, however the game has a few flaws,
first of all its extremely brief,
it takes a mere 6 hours to complete it,
there is no real point in collecting the wizzard cards, and spells can backfire on you,
another thing i found very annoying were the ghosts and flying books (hogwarts a history level), each time they attack you you loose beans and health, another thing is its hard to get sufficient wiggenweld potion to survive until later in the game,
overall its definely worth buying,

good game

I rented this game Friday night and finished it on Sunday at 8:00 so, this is a fun game but easy to beat. I would say that this is one of the games to rent.

A Very Nice Game With a Few Drawbacks

Well, I received this game as a Christmas gift and immediately slipped it into the PS2 game console. The first thing that caught my eye was the amazing graphics!! I felt as if I had been transported into Harry's world. The first few levels are meant for the player to become acquainted with the controls and overall feel of the game. The first drawback of this game I observed, however, was the loading time. To step through one door it takes about half a minute to load. It doesn't seem to hinder the player at first, but as the game continues it proves to be a bit of a pest. However, this is only a minor drawback and is easily made up for. The game is made up of a series of "mini-quests" divided into days. Each day, Harry has 2-4 mini-quests to complete. Some of these quests are quite simple while others are nearly impossible. The only reason I'm still playing is because I read an online walkthrough for the game every time I get really, really stuck. I suggest other players do this to prevent any kind of violence that might result from frustration ;). Overall, this game is wonderful!!! It's challenging, entertaining, visually mesmerizing, and full of ingenuity. A wonderful buy and treat for the whole family.

the loading times are this games downfall...

This game would be pretty fun if the loading times didn't come up every time you go through a door and they are also too long!I think being a fan of the books I was annoyed at how they made you do these stupid tasks for no reason and these stupid tasks are a much bigger part of this game than the story. By the way anyone who says this game is like zelda they are wrong...very wrong. But what I found enjoyable in this game was the fact that in these stupid non story related tasks there is a level of challenge in this game. I and my friend found ourselves being amazed at how many tries it would take you to sneak past the prefects! But a lot of times you are just trying to do as much as possible without having to go though another loading sequence. I have to admit that sneaking around the grounds at night and exploring the deep underground of Hogwarts is fun. But I think that the tasks you have to do could have been tied better to the story. Just make sure that you rent it before you buy it.

Not bad at all!

In my 8 year old's own words, "I really like this game. It is great!" This is his first game for the PS2 and, although we don't have anything to compare it to, he and my 4 year old are captivated by it. And they aren't Harry Potter fanatics, either. One last quote, "It's very exciting. It makes my heart pound! The only bad thing about it is that it's pretty hard and you can't jump." (Kids are so honest, aren't they?)

game is excellent

First of all, It has taken me about twenty hours to get to where I am now (which is Professor flitwick's Incedio challenge). I'm convinced the others that rated this didn't finish in 2 days (maybe 48 hours), but majority rules all. Great game! Every time I have to do another challenge I get more and more stumped, which is why I can't go further. Every time I go into another room it takes fifteen or more seconds to load the area I entered, which is the only downfall other then enjoying the game so much that you have a tough time finding a stopping point. I suggest you look for hints if you purchase this game, because with out them you'll be very frustrated. This is a game so intense that there will be many times that you complete a task and you think or say outload "yyyyyyeeesssssssss!".

Wow!

My son got this game for Christmas. I tried it out to see how it was and now I'm hooked! There is quite a bit of problem solving and it really tests your reflexes. This is my most favorite video game of all time!

A fun of the highest kind

This game is incredibly fun. There are some stupidly easy parts mixed with some stupidly hard parts. The graphics are fantastic and although the game is based on the film, alot of the game is original material, and very good at that.

It is a long game, which means you can't just complete it in a few days. I particuarly love the quidditch part.

The only downside is the loading time and the speaking parts which do get annoying at times. However, the game is so entertaining I cant take a star off for those things.

I recommend this game to anyone over 7 or 8, I think it is far too hard for anyone younger than that. No matter what age you are it is going to be challenging at times, but fun!

Great but easy

Harry Potter 2 for PS2 is perhaps the most wonderful game I have ever played. It allows the player to explore Hogwarts and its secret passage ways, most of which are hard to find. However, there is only a couple of things I would change for the game. First of all there needs to be larger areas to explore before you have to wait for it to load. The other is that it should be longer and harder. The basilisk was very easy to defeat. It is very hard to die in this game if you know what you are doing. However all games could be better and this is a great game.

I Love Harry!

Although I thought this game was so fun one thing that did annoy me quite a bit was the downloading time between levels or when Harry was entering or leaving a room. At times, it took up to 2 minutes for a scene to load. It wasn't a very difficult game, but it is still a fun role playing game! Loved it!! Can't wait for the next one to come out!
