I had really looked forward to the release of this game, and I did enjoy the first one for PS1. But I have to tell you, this game drove me insane! Every time you move your character or open a door the game takes forever to load the new scene. I was honestly so frustrated that I have only attempted to play this game two times. What a waste of $50.00. Don't bother!

Not Worth Buying

When I first bought this game, I thought it would be great. Well, it was the first time I played, of course. The poor aspects of the game are countless. If you jump from two feet high you will lose about 1/6 of your health. When jumping from ledges(which appears way too many times in this game) you will fall off if you are an inch off course, making most obsticles difficult and tedius. Also, the bosses are extremely easy...the game gets everything in relation to the book wrong. They completely leave out Dobby, the beginning of the story with the Dursleys, the writing on the wall, and Gildroy Lockhart being a fraud. Also, when Harry is viewing Tom Riddle's diary, he watches the scene in which Hagrid is expelled as if in a small T.V. They also make things that were fascinating is the book combletely dull by making them bosses. Also, the general plot of the game is brought up like a what-should-I-do-today concept. The game is also very short. My cousin beat it in a mere two days. Now, I'm not trashing Nintendo, I am completley faithful and want them to suceed, (even though Warner Brothers made this ...) but, for your own good, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!! READ THE BOOK AND SEE THE MOVIE, THEY ARE MUCH BETTER THAN THIS!!!

This game was horrible, I wasted my money on it and I recomend that you don't waste yours. I have never played such a bad game, there is no action and too much violence, this game is not appropriate for young kids under the age of 12 regardless what the label says.

Dissapointing

Only fun for a short while. The loading times are rediculously long. I spend some 5 minutes waiting for it to load.

Harry Potter is the worst idea ever. ican't believe kids are actually in to it. i think harry potter should be ban from all shelves. it teaches kids bad things about witch craft and isnt good for anyone under the age of 13.

we bought this game and we were very excited about it but it turned out to be a huge dissapoinment!!! you would get stuck in levels and when you want to go to next level or even open a door to go inside somewhere you'll have to wait for the game to load for a while, and it's not worth $49.99 at all.

A beautiful game to look at....but not exactly to play.

First off, let me say it: I AM a Harry Potter fan! I am. I recieved the game for Christmas and had played it for several hours by the end of that night. I was surprised by how remarkably the graphics of the game had improved compared to the first game. There are however, SEVERAL problems:

The Camera: VERY difficult to control. I failed several challenges dozens of times simply because i could not even see what was going on. The camera stays with Harry and only by positioning him correctly can you see in front of him.

The Loading Times: OMG! The amont of loading it takes to change between areas of the game is almost revolting! You could take naps in between!

The Challenges: I know this is a kid's game and it's supposed to be fun, but several challenges in the game are so ridiculous that even in the Hogwarts setting they become unbelievable. For example, one "night" Neville Longbottom gets trapped behind a rug? (I won't even touch on that) and Hermione sends Harry out to the greenhouse to fetch a spell. Along the way you have to sneak past some guards and fight some evil plants...which isn't particularly bad....but you would think with a world like Harry's the makers could have come up with slightly more imaginative and entertaining challenges.

Overall, not a terrible game. One neat aspect fo the game allows you to fly freely around the exterior of the castle and roam the interiors as well. ...

A Big Disappointment

I love the Harry Potter franchise, and mostly because of that, I had high expectations for this game. But the reality was very disappointing. This has all the marks of a game that was hastily put together, on a low budget, with very little user testing. The general design is a completely linear series of missions - do this, then do that, then do the other thing, with no choices whatsoever. And if there is any one task anywhere in the game that you can't figure out, then the game is over for you. Lack of attention to detail shows up throughout -- for example, the prefects will scold you and tell you to go back to your dorm, but won't let you actually do so! As another example, Hermione will tell you to do some complex task, but only once -- better write it down, because if you forget the details, she will not tell you again no matter how many times you hit the Talk button on her (or, in frustration, start pummeling her with spells). I rarely give up on a game, but I'm giving up on this one after about 2 hours of play. Spend your money on something else.
