EXCELLENT AND EASILY BETTER THAN X-BOX VERSION!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 2 / 5
Date: November 18, 2003

To the person who said "I won't buy it because I already have it for the X-Box", let's just say no TV save a 5000 dollar plus all digital version will EVER look better than a computer monitor. It is a known fact. Televisions have too high of a dot pitch and are thin compared to the best CRT monitors by Sony and Viewsonic! Even the digital TVs just are not made for playing games that push all of that color by the nVidia or Radeon ATI graphics cards. The X-Box is the best console but will and can never beat a computer. To those serious gamers looking for the best graphics and sound hands down, get the PC Windows version. Like Serious Sam, it is great with sound and graphics. Contact me at erniem1970@comcast.net if you have any comments for me.

Warning: No co-operative play

Halo PC was a Christmas present from Santa. My boys love co-operative play on the X-box - it is their main way of playing all the First Person Shooters. So we were severely disappointed that it was missing from the PC version.

What was the point of two licenses if they can't play together?

No Halo, just Horns for the PC

I just can't get excited about this game. Outdated, unintertesting and a lag in the mouse that I just couldn't seem to get rid of. Even handing this one off to a friend didn't win it anymore stars with more complaints of mouse problems and boring play. Skip this one, get something without the dated graphics and boring play.

What's so great about it?

Here comes, the very long awaited,HALO!!!BOOOOM!its over, its gone...I can't beleive that i wasted so much money for this! The quetion is,what's good about this game??I've played great games like Medal of Honour,Call of Duty,Warcraft etc.But this game sucks.Ok,the graphics are great, but couldn't Microsoft think of the magic words 'Fun and Exciting'?The company has created award winning games like Age of Empires,AOM etc.But this one is at the bottom of the list.Don't waste your money on it.

first things first. 1. this isnt your normal 1st person shooter. unlike most shooters, u carry only 2 guns and have fair amount of weapons to choose from. human weapons range from an automatic 50cal. pistol with scope, an assault rifle, shot gun, 14.5 mm armor piercing sniper rife, and a fat ... rocket launcher. covenant (the baddies ranging from little guys with big guns to bigger guys with... big guns)weapons are a plasma pistol with a longer-you-hold-down-trigger-the-more-powerful-the-shot mode of fire. the plasma rifle is an auto matic laser rifle (all plasma weapons can overheat and cant reload, so u have to pick up knew ones) the needler which resembles the hornet rifle from half life, but does a whole lot more damage, and theres new weapons in mp. the flamethrower may be a maybe, while the fuel rod cannon (covenant rocket/grenade launcher) is a definite yes.
2. vehicles
human vehicles are the warthog jeep, with a 12.7 (50 cal)x 99mm (who comes up with these measurements?)gatling gun ofr a 3 barreled rocket launcher in mp and driver and passenger compartments, the scorpion, a tank with a 80mm gun and a 7.62 mg, and passenger sides
covenant vehicles include the ghost hoverbike, with quad plasma cannons, the banshee aircraft with rockets and auto plasma cannons
and the story is about some alien race who thinks the humans are the devil or somethin in their religon, but i wont spoil anymore
im just waiting for halo 2 to come out on pc, and the only way i now about halo is through a friend that i have, and i have played, so expect good game playin expierence.
last words... ...

6 Stars!

This game is great. Awesome for some one like me who does not own an Xbox. This game has a lot more then the original on the Xbox did like a lot more multiplayer maps. Not to mention you can play with a lot more then 4 people. Hours and hours of fun on multiplayer alone.

You're also entitled to download Halo Custom Edition. Its free. You are able to play custom maps on this version. You can even download the Halo Editing Kit (or HEK) and make your own maps!

This game doesn't require the fastest PC to run decently, but it needs a fairly new video card. I was running it on a 1.5Ghz P4 and 512MB of RAM with an nVidia FX 5200. The game lagged to the point that it was unplayable. I had to set all the video setting to low, and turn some settings off like shadows and detail. The game would run fine like this but when there was a lot of sprites on the screen it would still lag a little. I replaced my video card with an nVidia 7600 GS and turned all the video settings up. The game runs perfectly now. I have two friends that have a PC purchased in the last year or two with on board nVidia chip sets and the game runs fine for them on the default settings. I'm not saying you need a hardcore video card, just a fairly new one.

Never been a videogame fan... till now

This was the first time I bought something on Internet, but the experience with Amazon was excellent!! The game is absorbing, the story is excellent and you can play it for hours without getting bored. If you want, you can eliminate the blood from the graphics and you are more aware of your own survival and on how to get to the next level than you are on just shooting aliens, so I think the label "mature" is an exaggeration. Anyway, this is not a game for children. I would not buy it for someone younger than, say 18 or 20. If you are looking for a game that will have you on the edge of your seat, on something that is a real challenge, look no further. It is easy to master, you have plenty of chances to accomplish the objectives and there are many options on the quality of graphics, sound, etc., so you can personalize it to the speed and capacity of your computer. By the way, don't waste your money buying a joystick or something, it is much better, easier and accurate to play it with the keyboard and the mouse!

Great game

This game has 5 stars because: You are challenged in every corner, it has a excellent story behind, you need to be quick to destroy many enemies, and this game gives you pure emotion and action. I love it!. Be careful about sleeping after midnight.

I wasn't a fan of Halo ... until it came to the PC.

First, let me start out by saying that Halo is getting pretty old by now (early 2005), so even though I say this game has good graphics, this game is starting to show its age compared to the latest games on the market.

When I first played this game on Xbox I wasn't very impressed. It was okay, but nothing special compared to newer PC combat games. The thing that annoyed me the most was the basic level design (which hasn't really improved on the PC) and the console controls. Well, Halo plays quite well on the PC and I personally think the graphics are "somewhat" improved.

I've read a lot of reviews on Amazon talking about people having trouble playing Halo at anything other that the lowest quality settings, but I haven't had ANY of those problems. I'm on a P4 2.8GHz machine with 1Gig of RAM and a 128MB ATI graphics card. Maybe some of the people having problems either don't have enough RAM or have buggy machines or cheap PCs they bought from Dell, but I have NO PROBLEM running this game at 1024x768 at AT LEAST 30fps and all the detail settings to high. (I bought my gaming PC from Falcon Northwest back in late 2003 in case you're wondering.)

Anyway, if you've got a good PC and are trying to decide whether or not to buy Halo, all I can say is buy this game and have some fun.

Aging, but still Amazing

I just got Halo a few months ago. It's a little late, but I'm having a lot of fun with it.

Gameplay can be easy or challenging. AI is smart, weapons are good, and levels quite detailed.

Multiplayer is what this is all about. You can play with up to 16 people with no hassle over the internet. It's really easy to setup a game or join a current one.

The story is very good too. I wish Halo 2 were out for the PC so I could continue it without buying an xbox.
