I am 62 years old. I have seen a few games and played none until now. This game is fabulous. The only bad part about this game is, I get so engrosed I loose track of time. Its easy to restart and when you get killed, you can go right back and do the same senario until you win.

Yes, other reviews have said that this game is a far cry from its Xbox borne brother, but it is still quite fun. I have had it since it came out a few months ago, and the online play keeps getting better. At first, there were lots of team killers and people which made the online experience plain annoying, but now game creators have gotten smarter. They change the ruilses so you can't hurt your own team, and this makes the game much less frustrating online.
However, I warn you that if you have a nice computer, the game will take away hours of your life. It is very smooth on most of my friend's dell computers, and is extremely addicting. I myself have an old P3 computer, and despite the choppiness, I still stay up playing online way past midnight.
Single player, on the other hand, is pretty boring. The PC version is missing the famous cooperative mode, which was the highlight of the Xbox version. But i believe that online play makes up for it.
Overall, if you are a first person shooter fan and you have a nice computer, get this game.

Pros: Nice graphics, nice audio, fun vehicles, overall online entertainment, and a cheap price

Cons: Halo recquires a relatively new computer to run (a high-end Pentium 3 or above), and a nice graphics card. Single player does not include cooperative, and killing waves of aliens can be boring by yourself.

Some Helpful Advice for Halo PC

Ok not to be derogatory Mr. CaptureTheFlagFailure but maybe its not the energy bar. In fact, I find it quite easy to drive an SUV across a desert and grab a flag. Maybe you should practice HALO instead of giving it a bad review because you aren't the best the first time you play. You're not going to dominate every video game you pick up. Learn how to be the best. Find out what weapons work at what ranges, the most powerful weapons, how to lead a moving target, use grenades and so on. I will tell anyone reading this review that Halo PC is an awsome game if you have a half decent PC/Internet connection. I also recomend entering games with a low ping as they are less laggy. And if you are upset with the way others are playing, modding, or just if the level of play is too great, just find another game to play in. There are so many.

I urge you to get this game, and don't be discouraged if at first you don't succeed. Just always be courtious to other players as they are people too. If you need any help or further information on Halo PC or anything Halo please contact me at JonsHaloHelp@yahoo.com

Have fun!

This game is completely awesome! I don't know what all of this talk is that it isnt compatable with most PCs, because I tried it on about five different computers. One of them was a $400 dollar dell bargain PC and it ran fine on all of them! It's also a blast to replay. Besides all this technical stuff, Halo is just a supurb game!

Halo is an ausome game no matter what the other reviews say!

Halo combat evolved is one of the best games I have played. I haven't played multiplayer yet. This game has good graphics and a great storyline. You start out on the human ship the pillar of autumn. The covenent (sorry if i spelled this wrong) ship has cought up with the pillar of autumn and has boarded it. The covenent are aliens fighting to destroy the human race. Your only choice is to take cortana the main information program and try to escape the damaged pillar of autumn. You escape onto a giant ring floating in space. The outside of the ring is metal. But the inside is a world much like earth. The covenent believe Halo(the ring) is a weapon. The covenent do not know how to use Halo yet. You find Halo's main control system and find out what Halo really is. It is a prison for the flood. The human flood are truly gross creatures and I will not go into full detail about their "habits". Halo is not only a prison to keep the flood from escaping and spreading across the universe but it is also a place to study the human flood. This is only a few parts of the game. Don't ask me how I went from building to building without getting lost. All of the buildings look the same on the inside so watch out! I love the machines you get to ride in. My favorites are the ghosts. I highly recommend this game to any gamer anywhere.

Occasionally excellently repetitive

Great game, very fun to play, play is tight and enjoyable, AI is very good, love the music and the graphics aren't bad.

Unfortunately, in the middle of the game there is a long segment of repetitiveness, and it feels like your just slogging through the same enemies over and over again. If they took out the majority of that part it would be perfect.

The Only Game You'll Ever Need

Halo is all around the best game ever. The backround and the sound is amazing, and the graphics are the best I have ever seen in a console-game. The controls are easy to get used to and the gameplay is unbeattable. After that first minute of Halo you're stuck. When you sleep the only thing running through your head is halo, halo, halo. All the action, the strategy, the fun is all just too good to be true. The game is built for everyone. If you're a gun-hoe soldier, halo allows you to blast your way through. If your more a silent, one-shot one kill, hit and run type player (like me) then halo is built for your needs. The best part about Halo is that it is the first good game i've seen with co-operative gameplay. Co-op is loads of fun, and is the main reason why i love halo so much. This game is filled with action horror and suspense and I garantee its the best game or you can shot me.

just... wow

I played this at E3 and the graphics were stunning. I can't believe how they can make such a successful xbox game to the pc and not make it worse, and possibly make it better!! I can't believe it... it's just... WOW!

Why is everyone having trouble playing this great game???

Apparently, about half of the people who bought this game are having trouble running it at a decent framerate, despite their powerful operating specs. I have an Athlon XP that operates at 1.8, a Radeon 9600 Pro, 512 ram, and Windows XP. I haven't experienced any problems getting 100+ frames per second with details maxed at 800x600, even though my system is practically ancient compared to those who have complained about framerates running on a 3.2ghz machine with a 256MB graphics accelerator. I know for a fact that getting DirectX 9.0b can cause a huge improvement in framerate. Perhaps those hampered with this unseen problem should contact Bungie or Gearbox before they write a biased review based on their inexplicable and nonsensical machine performances. Oh, and i haven't gotten any lag online that's worse than any other game, like UT2003 or Medal of Honor. Give this game a try, you won't regret it. Until you meet me online. See ya there.

Even QUAKE was better...

Halo, the game of the year (like three years ago) is on the pc and it is the worst piece of junk ever. My computer is not even one year old, and its graphics card is good. However, I can't enjoy the simple pleasures of seeing my gun flare when I shoot, because it makes the video jump and lag like crazy. Not only this but the graphics look like an N64 game. The multiplayer stinks because its full of morons and unoriginal gameplay which can be found in about a million other games... even free ones.

Don't waste your money.
