A great game game overall for many reasons. Its stealth gameplay is amazing. Who would of thought that in a violent game like this you can come 3 inches within your worst enemy without them raising an eyebrow. Great graphics. Very realistic. A must HAVE!

This game is a realistic version of Max Payne. Which comes with amazing guns. Such as 50. caliber 30. and ak 47. I personelly am a gta III,ghost recon and max payne fan. I love violence. This game is a beutiful image of hitman and assains. This is probably the best game for its catergory. No let me tell you this game has a plot which is as confusing as Goodfellas. Its not for kids over 13. I mean its not the language but the viloence there are no sex themes. This game is a Hit-Man!

good game, bad controls

the hardest part about this game was the contoller. one joystick to move and one to look around was good except if you came under fire. sometimes, the way the contols are set up made it hard to move around and do things, especially if you came under fire. all in all this is a good game but i found the controls hindering gameplay far too much but other than that it is a good game. the sound of the wind through the cathedral, the whistling guard at the top of the stairs all made for a good vibe. the different array of weapons made it interesting. my favorite moment was killing the two men in the park on the third mission via the sniper rifle. the game was at times difficult, in knowing where to go and what to do but it was fun to try different approaches. do i carbomb the limos or hit the cathedral and shoot the men that way? like i said, sometimes the puzzles were hard to execute and the controls are hard to make it through the game but all in all it was ok.

Awesome Game

The best thing about this game is that it is only as hard as you want it to be. You can try to sneak your way through an entire level without killing anyone but the "hit". And if you get fustrated after a few tries just go postal and kill everyone on the level, even that takes some thought. I wouldn't advise walking to the middle of the level to start blasting. Use your silenced weapons and hide the bodies, it'll take the guards a few minutes to figure out whats going on. And the many different weapons let you decide whether to kill up close: fiber wire, knives, ect. or from a distance: crossbow, sniper rifle, ect. So like I said, you basically set your own difficulty by challenging yourself to finish it with only one kill or many. Excellent game and a must own for any PS2 owner.

this game is awsome!!!!

Awesome weapon interface

New interface can be tricky.

Recommend getting practice in with the controllers prior to trying to use them in combat situations. PS2's controllers have numerous features that make the learning effort worth it.

The scenarios are brilliantly constructed. My favorite is the samurai castle. The crossbow is truly fun to use. Remember to have new weapons in your possession at the end of each scenario so they're available on the next.

The weapon dynamics are unbelievably good. The sound of your breath and motion of the rifle scope make it the best weapon interface I've ever used, after I got used to it.

Changing uniforms is a necessity to avoid being shot at range, and you have to really act the part by constantly walking (I did 1/2 sec mini-bursts of running.)

Unfortunately HM2 is a stealth game in many respects. Thinking is crucial. An aggressiveness bar tracks how likely you are to kill first rather than avoid. A pure mayhem model might be good relief; or you can just play a scenario without saving it if you want to play Ahrnold. (The samurai scenario is especially good for it.) Keep expectations about performance limited if you're not willing to use stealth, though. It does take something away when you kill perfectly yet kill too much, resulting in a lower score and higher aggression rating.

The maps and mission structure is similiar to Bond's Nightfire, but the graphics are much better. Actions also "pop up" which means you don't have to use some tool at the precise spot.

Aiming is simplified a bit, which is good because the controller layout forces aiming with right pad and shooting with same hand index finger. I think the difficulty settings may change this.

Play on Expert level if you have time. Be patient and prepare to run through the scenarios several times.

Replayability is possible, and there are often several approaches. Often I did recon by fire, see how far I could get, gather intel, then restart the scenario and do it stealthily. This is irrealistic but OK in Expert level (and not knowing maps and what to do next will kill you quickly.)

I'd like to see this interface in multiplayer. Unfortunately the weapons would make players too deadly...

Wonderful sequel!

I played the first Hitman on the PC. I got the sequel, and I was very pleased. The graphics, game play, complexity, and depth of the game is a ton of fun. I would not recommend this game to people who aren't [...]-retentive like me. Some of the missions are pretty difficult, especially if you want to do them perfectly. I do feel like you can really get into the mood of the game. The missions briefings make it seem very realistic.

Basically, if you enjoyed the first Hitman, you'll really like the second!

Quite entertaining.

I really liked this game. It had way more stealth than MGS2 ever did. The plot is that you are a hitman with no name, who is in retirement at a church in Sicily. However, your priest friend has been kidnapped by the mafia. You must rescue him.

The gameplay is incredible. There were much more gadgets and more stealthy ways to approach a situation than Metal Gear Solid, which was pretty linear if you ask me. Also, I really digged the Look Through Keyhole option and the fiberwire rules.

The graphics are quite detailed. The church is perhaps the most beatiful thing I've ever seen in a video game. The only thing that bugged me was a few glitches. Sometimes, the people you interact with get frozen for a second. But this doesn't happen very frequently.

Fun game, I'm glad it's on the Greatest Hits. Get it!

something different

Hitman 2 just kicks major butt. I bought it looking for something different and that's just what I got. I haven't played the first one yet but I hear that it's just as good. It's challenging in the way that it makes you think and plot your moves. Each mission usually has several different ways to go about solving it, which makes for some very interesting game play- especially since you're main objective is to of course assassinate people. Nothing is set in stone with this game. If you want to run in with your ballers blaring and kill every person in the joint, then by all means do it. If you want to be virtually undetected and make your hit without anyone ever knowing you were there, then by all means do that too. You can replay missions that you've already beaten as well, which is very cool considering all the different ways you can go about completing them. For this reason it has major replay value. Your choice of weapons is wide in variety and it's fun to explore each one's value. Graphics and sound are good, music is ok... stealthy music for a stealthy game. The thing that impressed me was the game play and that is why I give it five stars. It's a very creative concept and it keeps you interested and involved the entire time. You are not led by the hand like in so many other games, but have the freedom to decided how you want it to play out. The only thing that was difficult for me was getting adjusted to the controls, but after a couple missions I had it down. Now that it's not outrageously priced I would definitely recommend picking it up, you won't be sorry.

COOL AS SH%$!!

OK, i'm a little late on reviewing this game but just played it after bieng out for a few years!! I heard of the game but never played it. I saw a trailer for the game that blew me away so I said I had to buy it. Overall I found this a great game much in the vain of Metal Gear Solid. Actually, Better!! You are a hitman carrying out hits all over the world. Graphics are good, not the best but very good. The soundtrack by the Budahpest Orchestra is simply amazing! Really sets the mood for most of the levels. What I love is that you have free reign to carry out your mission in whatever method you choose. The best and most rewarding way is by carefully planning out your course and eliminating only your expected target. It took me litterally all day to get through just 1 mission!! My only complaint would be the AI.... it's kind of stupid sometimes. Reminds me of the AI in Grand Theft Auto 3. And there are a few bugs here and there that dont make sense, like seeing a weapons symbol on your map and then getting there and finding out there's nothing there?? I really love the concept of this game though and hope that EIDOS interactive will fix all these bugs with HITMAN: CONTRACTS due out soon. Overall with 20 missions to get through, plus unlimited variety of different paths to take, Hitman 2 will have you engrossed for a long time to come. Pplus it's only $20.00 now as a greatest hits so you really cant go wrong if you buy it.
