first off let me just say that this game is addictive, once you play it you cant stop. Its challenging on any level(took me about a month and a half to beat).Has about 21 levels,6 different countries(sicily,st.petersburg, japan, malaysia, nuristan, india), about 20 different weapons(as you go through levels you pick up different ones)/The plot of the story is your a retired hitman living in a church, until your preacher/friend is kidnapped,so your forced out of retirement and you start back to work for an agency and you must complete missions for them in return of information about the kidnapping of the preacher.this game is highly adddictive, fun and challenging.its worth the price and could possibly be the best game for the ps2 system,so go out and buy it!!

Great! Just excellent!

Okay, now we're talking. I got the game 'Dead to Rights', 'Conspiracy', and 'Vice City', thinking that they would satisfy my need to finally be introduced to a game where the realism is unmatched. All those games failed to meet my expectations. In fact, Hitman 2, was everything those games were not.

I never played Hitman 1, but from what I understand from Hitman 2, you were once a professional killer who has worked for many needy Employers. For some reason, you have decided that enough was enough, and found yourself sanction inside a Catholic Cathedral somewhere in Sicily, planning to live the rest of your days in penance. But your violent past finds it's way through the sanctity of the Church, and forces you not only to turn your back on God, but regret that you did. Personally, this had my name written all over of it. It applies to that saying: 'NECESSITY KNOWS NO LAW'.

You get in contact with some sort of underground Agency, which apparently you have worked with before. This Agency obviously works for the American Government and all of America's Allies, and it sends you out to annihilate all sorts of Adversaries, from Terrorists to corrupt Military Generals. The work you do is obviously un-constitutional, but justifiable just the same. In turn you visit many different parts of the world - Japan, India, Iraq, Malaysia. That in itself deserves a shinning star.

Now the real reason why this game is so great: there is no one way to complete a mission. In fact, each mission can be completed using any method your heart so desires. You can walk into a fancy-dancy ballroom where you got a guy on a piano in one corner, a group of men talking business in another, martinis being passed around, bright shinning suits and tuxedos, a waiter serving chcolate treats to everyone - the perfect enviriment to pull out an AK Machine gun from your coat and blast away until there's no one left screaming. Or...you can take a more stealthier approach: Glance at your portable computer, which gives a satellite projection of all persons in the house, which should show the whereabouts of your main target. Sneak around a bit, killing only the people that stand between you and your target, make the hit, and walk out undetected. I like this feature - kinda like a game of 'Catch the Flag'. There's usually a group of guards in every level. You can wait behind a bush until one strays too far from the other patrolmen, shoot him or strangle him from behind, drag his body and stash it where it won't be found, take his clothing and whatever weapon he might have on him, and walk pass enemy-lines DRESSED as the enemy. Tell me if that ain't cool.

Another great aspect to the game is that it can be so wickedly cold, it's bound to just make you shake your head and say to yourself, 'I can't believe I just did that.' For instance, an innocent postman is on his way to make a delivery to a house where your target is stationed. On his way there, he stops to empty his bladder on a bush. So, as this poor bystander is 'RELIEVING' himself, you can sneak up from behind him, wrap that cord around your fist, and strangulate him to death, Just so you can obtain yourself a nifty postman outfit and earn a free ticket into the house of your target. Here's another example, this one taking place in Japan: you already made your way into your target's house, but you can't reach the third floor because of that locked door, and you know that little Japanese Geisha girl has the blasted key. Sneak into her room. Hide behind a sunframe. Wait for her to come in. Shoot her in the back of the head while she's in the process of polishing up on her makeup. Or (and this is the greatest) when you find yourself a nice fuse box. Oh, your target is in his hot-tub, having a great old time with his highly paid playboy look-alike wannabe whores. Break the circuit. Put on your nightvision goggles. And one by one.....Just like in Silence of the Lambs. Tell me if that won't excite you.

The graphics are superb. The only set-back to this game is that you (your character) was cloned by the government or something, just so you'll never have a real identity and do what you were made to do. That's kinda silly if you ask me. A Hitman is someone you hire to kill your husband or to remove that guy who totally screwed up what could have been a highly rewarding drug deal. So, there's a minor drawback to the realism I so love to see in games, but Hitman 2 still has got to be one of the greatest games I have ever put money on. Most definitely not a rental. Go buy it now!

BANG!!BANG!! your dead!

To start off this review I will just say I like to be positive in my reviewing. This game is one of the funnest shooters i've ever played (although nothing can beat goldeneye) for one it challenges your brain as well as your trigger finger. Because if you kick down the door with your guns blazing your gonna get a cap in your a$$ although that is the funnest aprouch. The way to do things in this game is to make silent kills with fire wire or a silenced pistols then diguise your self. then usually at the end of every level there is a big gun battle. I've only played the demo so I've only played one level but it was great I killed the flower delivery man and stole his clothes then dragged him off to the side so no one would find him dropped all my guns walked past the guardes through the gate then went back and got my guns, I then made the hit and ran to the basement with my guns blazing it was awsome! There is only one thing to complain about in hit man two, the graphics they are blocky and random although the sneaky fun and gore more than makes up fore that. Note:this game is not for anyone under eighteen it is extremely violent Example:you can kill a totally inocent person take his/her clothes and blow the brains out of there half naked dead body.

poor gameplay ruins a great concept

I bought this because of the many positive reviews I read here. However, I've found the game to be utterly frustrating and very little fun.

My complaint regards the gameplay/controls. Your left stick controls where the character walks/runs, and the right stick controls where he looks (the camera). That in itself isn't so bothersome... lots of other games do that too. But in Hitman2, the camera won't automatically swing around to follow him. So if you start walking at a 45 degree angle to the right, the camera may very well be looking at a 90 degree angle to the left. And it will stay there until you manually rotate it. This, for me at least, led to frustration and more than a little nausea. Don't get me wrong... I want to be able to look around 360 degrees. But when I start moving in a certain direction, the camera should automatically swing around behind me and look over my shoulder. I don't want to have to control my direction and my camera simultaneously every single moment of the game.

I found this disjointed view issue so annoying that I gave up on the game entirely after the first mission.

One of the Best

This is one of the best programed games to come along in a long time. There is the third person perspective and first person. Hitman can drop a weapon, hide a weapon, and carry more than one in his hands. He can even pistol whip. He can be a a really bad guy or he can be a professional and only get the target. The graphics are outstanding and realistic. There really is a lot of ways to complete a mission which makes game replay outstanding. With this game a person can go berserk or really think it out, however, with some missions if the player goes too berserk the target will leave and the mission will fail. If you like action games then this one is a must for the collection. This game is intended for adult players as there are several intense moments. The blood and gore can be turned off though but there are places in the game that are adult intense without gore and blood. In short an excellent game for the adult player with loads of action. If you ever wanted to put yourself in one of those 1970 spy flicks then this game is for you.

COMPLETELY ORIGINAL!

This game is so awesome. Unlike most other games out there, it's not a random kill em all and run game. You have to straegically plan out your routes, targets, and escape. Use silenced weapons, so as not to alert other enemies, hide the body and take their clothes. From their you move around the area, without the enemy even knowing you're their, make your hit and leave. You get a higher rating for less agression and killing only your target(s). Definately buy this, it gives the biggest rush when you complete your mission, leaving the enemy completely clueless of your presence. Nothing has ever been done like this it's the greatest.

That's 5 BIG stars! A cornerstone in any PS2 collection!

This game is as smooth as buttermilk. The graphics are clean and sharp, without a jagged edge in sight. And the actual gameplay is seriously addictive. Whether you're in the snowy mountains of Japan or in the hot sand of the Middle East, Hitman 2 is one of the greatest third-person shooters in existance. And what a great ending! I won't give anything away, but man, I've beaten this game several times and that ending never fails to excite. That goes for pretty much every mission, though there is one called "Murder at the Bazaar" that's a little thin. But I'm nitpicking. Go out right now and take advantage of the price-drop--buy Hitman 2! You won't be sorry.

Graphically Stunning, Yet Virtually Uncontrollable!

I was quite exited while watching the opening cut screens. I was rather disappointed though when I went to the Control Options to see there was absolutely no configuration for my Microsoft Sidewinder Game Pad. How could they possible expect for one to play a game of this caliper using the keyboard only. You'd have to be part human, part "octopus" in order to comfortably move, run, shoot, use items, etc. using the MANY, MANY programmable keys on the keyboard. The Graphics were stunning, but I recommend you play both Hitman games on the game console platform like PlayStation, as opposed to trying to enjoy it on a PC. Maybe the developers at Eidos Interactive will add game pad support to the Hitman 3. Stay Tuned!

Hitman 2 came as a surprise to alot of people. PC to game consoles has always had a bad rep especially towards die hard PC gamers. I have never played the first hitman so i didn't know what the game was about. It turns out that this game is quality.
This game is extremely violent. You shoot people and blood splatters on the wall and everwhere. Not as much as Mortal Kombat. But the amount of weapons and extras you get is fun to mess around with. Even when the person is shot, you can still shoot them when they are an the floor. Their bodies just start flying all over the place. You can do it forever and their body is still going all over the place. That's the fun part. The environment is nice looking but gets bland and boring at some parts. Their huge also. And there are lots of stuff you can shoot and destroy. Like lamps, cups, windows, and other stuff. The framerates are pretty consistent at all times. Not much slowdowns. I hate slowdowns. But again with the environments, they are pretty nice looking and authentic. You actually start at a church or farmhouse. There are some pigs outside and you can shoot them and kill them. That's hilarious!! You can even shoot at a bunch of birds. And they flock away.
Now the problems of the game. First the controls are horrible. They are stiff even though you use the analog. Your hands will get tired and Agent 47's movements are really stiff. Like you can move along freeling up a stair case cause your hitting against an invisible wall. So you have to move a bit on to progress. It felt like playing the old tomb raider games with its stiff controls and arthritis inducing pains.
Now there is the difficulty problems. THe game is really really hard. You'll be guaranteed to slam your controller and swear at the tv alot of times. THere will be a part for example when your using a silencer gun but the enemies can still hear you. You can steal and wear the enemies clothing but still the others will know your a fake. And once those guys know your not one of them, you'll be hailed with so many bullets that it is almost impossible to survive the fire fight and trying to look for cover. Everyone will be after you. The game revolves around stealth and alot of stealth even though they give you soooooo many cool weapons that make alot of loud sounds. That's the part i don't get. Why all the war fare weapons when you can't even use it much.
And there is the level designs. Yeah some parts are nice but there will be others parts that are just plain boring and annoying to get through. Like in the game there are sooooooo many doors to go in and out. It's almost like a maze. Lots of doors and not much to do inside them.
Now your saying "Why don't you use the map then". There is probably the biggest problem in this game. Instead of just pressing a button to bring up the map on the screen, you have to press select, then choose map on the menu screen and press X. I'm sorry but that is way too much process to just bring up the map and beleive me you will be accessing the map alot in this game since the environments are pretty big. And the annoying part is that the map seems to alwasy go on far away view so you have to toggle your analog stick to make it closer to your view.
Well i think that's enough explanation. This game is hard, and even when you beat a level your faced with an even more difficult level with the same layout and door. Its not satisfying to get through. Trust me. I just found myself putting on cheat codes and blasting everyone. I put a matrix style code that is low gravity so when you shoot people, they go high in the air in slow mo and you can shoot them again and have fun. Tha't about it.
