I sent this to my nephew for his birthday. Right afterwards the new version was released. But he still loved playing it. It'll be an easy choice for his Xmas present...

Awesome game!!!!

This game is soooo fun!!! It's awesome to be able to play through the three prequel Star Wars movies with the characters being LEGOs! The jump in, jump out multiplayer addition is a great plus also. The only bad thing is that it doesn't take very long to get through all three movies; and, even though there is a LOT of replayability, it sometimes gets kind of annoying playing through the same levels over again. Still, this is one of the best games I've played!

Awsome Game but......needs harder difficulty

I bought this game because of all the glowing reviews it was getting. I'm a huge Star Wars fan as well, so it was a no-brainer. The game is fun, clever, looks great, but is WAY too short. Definitely a game for younger players, but still fun to run through in a couple hours.

Great game

This is an excellent game. Notice that all the bad reviews come from people that are too cheap to upgrade their video card.

Get the list of compatible video cards at
http://forums.eidosgames.com/forumdisplay.php?f=157&page=2&sort=lastpost&order=desc&pp=50&daysprune=-1
Edit: Here's the list:
GeForce 3
GeForce 4 (except MX)
GeForce FX
GeForce 6 series

Radeon 9 series
Radeon X series

You can go to ebay and get a compatible video card (min requirements) for $30-40 shipped. It's a worthwhile game. The graphics are great. Fun for adults and kids. My kids have played several scenerios many times, and still manage to find new stuff. Lots of replayablity.

Heck, it's worth the price to re-inact the scene in Attack of the Clones where OB1 is fighting Jango Fett on the rainy planet. That was a lot of fun.

Easier than the second

Seems easier than Lego Star Wars II which has more stuff you have to figure out. We beat movies 1 and 2 in the first sitting, and didn't beat the whole game at once because we had to go out for New Year's, but it's good quality entertainment, especially good for people with little to no gaming experience.

This is a terrific game for anyone that is a fan of Star Wars and Legos. The game is not overly challenging. It is perfect to introduce kids to the wonderful world of Star Wars. I have a seven year old and a nine year old. My kids and I are having a terrific time playing through all the levels. The ability to drop in and out during game play is great. I have Lego Star Wars II for my PSP and can see how the game has advanced from this first incarnation. When I complete Lego Star Wars, I will definitely be moving on to Lego Star Wars II for the Playstation 2. For some the game play may not be as challenging as they would like, but I definitely recommend the game. The videos are great and the game play is tons of fun.

Great fun for parents and kids

It's a puzzle and a kick butt game. I like the unlimited lives feature and the drop in drop out feature.
Unlimited lives means my 4 yr old can play with me and he can get killed 300 times and still keep playing while I light saber the bad guys. The drop in drop out means I can attend to his baby sister or go grill dinner and he can still play.

Some areas require advanced controller manipulation, such as double jumping onto to a specific spot with a specific player which is a bit advanced for a 4 yr old but he's getting it down and can run thru most levels with little or no help from mom and dad.

Also this game is addicting, my 4 yr old wakes up at 6 am dreaming of Star Wars and wanting to play. At dinner he humms the Star Wars theme, when playing outside he pretends he has a light saber or laser blaster, which is really a stick, and shoots pretend bad guys. I guess my generation had cowboys and indians he has storm troopers and droids to kill. Hasn't changed that much in 30+ years.

Great for some ages 2 and up!

The game seemed pretty slow at first and I got bored, but my 2 1/2 year old picked it up pretty quickly and after a few hours starting getting into much more interesting parts. Now he's into the second level (don't know how he got there) and the game is awesome. Some parts, especially where you are flying ships, are too hard for a 2-3 year old and he needs me to help him get to the next level or just through a hard or complicated spot. Other times, I've gotten stuck on levels and my son (now almost 3) shows me how to get out!

My other two year old still can't get the very basics of the game, so it's not for all 2-year olds. I don't think he's going to get good at it until he's about 4, but it will still be fun. And my wife and I play it once in a while while the kids are in bed. It is the most interesting game we own!

Expect to spend a lot of time on the game; it's not one you can just jump into right away. We've had it for months and play a little bit each day, sometimes our son repeats levels and enjoys showing what he's learned.

We need more games like this

My 4 year old girl loves this game. I tell her, if you misbehave, you will not play star wars before you go to bed. Guess what, she is good all day. I can't believe how much power I have over her because of this game. I really recommended this game for all children and parents to play together.
