Decidedly mediocre

Maybe I'm just getting old. But this game seems to have no identity. As a shooter it's pretty bad. Trying to aim the crosshairs to shoot the enemy is an exercise in frustration, it's just not possible to precisely aim using the Playstation 2 analog sticks the way you can using a mouse on a computer. So many times I was in a small room with a German soldier, and I couldn't even put the crosshairs on him, and my character was like 4 feet away! Sometimes it's hard to hit a target just a few feet away even when you have a machine gun! These flaws might be forgivable if the story was any good... which it isn't. Another reviewer raved about the graphics, and I have to ask - were we playing the same game? Definitely nothing special here. This was my first foray into the "Medal of Honor" series, and I have to say, I was pretty disappointed.

What a PAIN!

If you love spending hours to complete a mission only to be killed just before completing it, then having to go through the mission again, and again, and again, you'll love this game. I didn't. Some levels were easy, but others got ridiculous. I hate games without save points within missions. I've also decided I don't like first person shooters. Most of all, I don't like Torture, and that's what this game became. I did, however, enjoy Medal of Honor: Rising Sun. It had save points.

War Gaming at its Finest

Medal of Honor: Frontline is more like a retelling of World War II during some of its most classic battles, than a simple first person shooter. The first level of the game recreates the invasion on the beaches of Normandy, otherwise known as D-Day. This level is one of the most precise and spectacular video gaming I have ever seen. Every last detail is drawn out and level is truly something to cherish, and be replayed over and over again. After the opening level, the game does fall off a bit, but with an opening like that, it's hard not too. A major reason for this is the difficulty of the game in the middle levels. It took me nearly a week to beat certain levels, with the payoff not being all worth it. Still, Medal of Honor: Frontline is a solid gaming experience, redefining war adventure, and creating an atmosphere to be remeniscent of an actual movie.

No Multiplayer mode but otherwise a great game

I still haven't figured out why anyone would make a first person shooter game without a multiplayer mode. Despite this huge discreapency, Frontline is still a great game. The graphics and especially the sound are extremely realistic. The game is challenging and will take you some time to play. the replay value is also pretty good. The weapons are authentic from World War II and are varied. The missions are of several different varieties from sniper levels to straight up raiding the beach at Normandy. You can do some sneaking around and not just blasting your way through. Probably one of the best FPS games for one player I just wish there was a multiplayer option.

Needs a Better Save Feature

I loved Medal of Honor and finally broke down and played Medal of Honor 2: Frontline. The game is really fun and challenging especially to the casual gamer such as myself. The array of weapons to choose from made the game more interesting as I constantly had to think and use the best weapon for each scenario put in front of me. The AI is decent but at times can be frustrating. You can be right up next to a guy shoot ten times in the gut and the guy will not die. Then, he will smack you with his gun and half your health is taken away. There are also some graphical glitches such as dead bodies in mid air and dead bodies going through brick walls. I did not find that aspect all that frustrating though. I thought that it was kind of funny. The allies that run around with you on some levels are not very intelligent and stand right in the middle of a mess of Nazis and tanks waiting to get blown up.

The only reason that this game does not receive a 5 star rating is because of the HORRIBLE SAVE FUNCTION. There is no possible way to save your game half way through a level. You must fully complete the level with no saves. As a casual gamer I get killed all the time and usually near the end of a level that JUST TOOK 45 MINUTES to get to that point. Zing! I'm dead and I have to start the level over at the VERY BEGINNING... Some levels had to be repeated some 10 times or more just to move on. I would like to see A BETTER SAVE FUNCTION in the Medal of Honor games. As a casual gamer I'm not the best shot and don't want to spend hours upon hours repeating levels.

As a whole though, the game is very fun and worth the $ it costs.

Medal for entertainment...and education?

For any player who loves action, this game has got to be at the top of your list. The variation of setting and different levels of difficulty makes this a compelling and addicting challenge for the video junkie with a subspecialty in combat gaming. Excellent music accompanies great graphics with a mixture of real war footage to provide the history enthusiast with the flavor of authenticity. This game will provide hours upon hours of entertainment and can potentially be a conduit for educating one's children about WWII in the proper setting. Play this game with your son or daughter and use it as an excuse to simultaneously teach them about the historical significance of this event.

Great Game!

This is a very good game with very good graphics and good control. The AI is somewhat predictable but other than that its fun. The story is OK and I sometimes lost track of where the game was taking me but I didn't care because I was having fun. The guns are authentic and that is a plus because I hate playing games where you're in the WW2 era and you're shooting lightning guns and dodging lasers. It's a good game!

Best Action SP2 Game Ever!

The graphics, sound effects, and Michael Giacchino's score are fantastic. According to the credits Steven Spielberg helped contribute to this game. Which is very believable considering the smashing success with the Indiana Jones Sage, Schindler's List, and now Saving Private Ryan, which the game borrows very well from.

Although the movements from the enemy Nazis are mostly predictable, the game gives many challenges along the way. The opening D-Day attack is pretty tough, as is the Panzers, and Airfield locations. Some nazis are also harder to kill the others. The knife-throwing chefs, Gestapos, the guys with bazookas, and machine gunners are a little tough. The easier kills are the soldiers, guards, bartenders, and working staff. The funnest levels I thought were Operation Repunzel, Nijmegen Bridge, and The Golden Lion.

Game very effectively gives player a spy adventure remarkably similar to a James Bond style. You play Lt. James Patterson, and are given some great weapons to use along the way. The funniest moments I think are where you sneak into bars, pop a guard, and several soldiers go in for the kill shouting "Ein Americana!", or "Kum Zoo Puppie!" or other German phrases. The disguise scenes in the bar tipping the piano player or sneaking into the mansion are also cool.

The imagery of the games is great looking remarkably similar to key sequences in Saving Private Ryan, The Longest Day, and Bridge on the River Kwai. AWESOME GAME!
