I rented this game a while ago and i can tell you ohh MOMA this game is fun, I usually only rent a game once but i rented this three more times and beat it every time. This games graphics are AMAZING and the whole catchin your own food thing just adds to the realisim, even though the bosses are weird you know who gives a f%#k?. I loved sneaking around in the dense jungle takin out gaurds while there comrade's off takin a piss or sumthin, to hanging down from trees and takin out electric fences. And everything about this game is jusssssssssssst so sweet it would take me days to type a full enough review for this baby, i would just like to say Halo 2 aint got nuthin on this game (...) Halo 2 this is the first and only complete japanease game that I LIKE... Thanks KONOMI

I could not put this game down. I loved the dialogue, story line, characters, cut scenes, graphics, game play, enviornments, slicing of thoarts, eating of animals.... I fell in love with this game. I loved MGS 1 and 2 was okay but 3 just blew me away!!!

Good.A little letdown though.

This game MGS3 is one of the best games of 2004.Yet it lacks a couple of things.
1.Very overhyped for boring game.
2.Can be slow and frustrating.
If your new to the MGS series I would suggest getting MGS 2 Sons Of Liberty intead because it has better gameplay and a lot more entertaining.

the same as the others

The game isn't even out yet, and people are giving this game 1's. Have you guys even played it or seen the trailer? Anyways, I'll go on with my review.

From what I've seen so far, the game looks awesome. Better than the first two MGS games. The story doesn't seem overly complicated, and it looks pretty cool. The hunting for animals is a neat thing Kojima put in. The characters are desgined well, and it none of them look completely bad. I can't really say anything from gameplay experience, but I'm pretty sure this game will be awesome (in gameplay, story, and characters).

He truly is "THE GREATEST SOLDIER"

I love this game it is MUCH better, than Metal Gear Solid 2 AND Metal Gear Solid 1.In this PREqual you do not play as Solid Snake or that arrogant Jack Sears(In other words RAIDEN),no you play Naked Snake who is sent into a Russian jungle to resque Scientist Sokolov to stop him buildind the "Treading BeHemot"SHAGOHOD(or as i like to say Metal Gear:SHAGOHOD).

THE VIRTOUIS MISSION:
This is Part 1 the easy mission, its the original plan before the plot twists.
OPERATION:SNAKE EATER:
Part 2,The MAIN game you have been given another objective:Eliminate The BOSS and her COBRA team(yes all the guys with "The" on their names) as well as her allies.

THE CHARACTER:Jack ???,who is codenamed "Naked Snake" or for convenience "Snake".He is very sharp and resistant and endurable.
In Metal Gear Solid 1,Solid Snake`s interest was Myril Silverburgh. In Metal Gear Solid 2 RAIDEN`s love interst was Rosemary. In Metal Gear Solid 3 Naked Snake`s love interest is Eva,in my opinion the best of the others.

I love this game inside-out and my two favorate characters are Snake and Eva.

The ending is very...satisfying,i guess Eva and Snake celebrate at his house with Love stuff(Only as far as hugging, and kissing no sexual/nudity bits). But what i don`t like is Eva turning out to be a spy for the PHILOSEPHERS(in 1970 renamed The PATRIOTS),But she does not leave without conscent and leaves him a tape explaining the truth, but in her orders she was supposed to kill him,but she remembers what he did for her,as well as her promice to The BOSS.She throes her briefcase thing into the fire. But Naked Snake understands and does not curse her, which i liked.iT DEFINATELY FOLLOWS other MGS games in terms of plot twists, like always near the end of the game you get captured and tortured by a villain, and the bosses are very much the same way too,The FOXHOUND freaks,The DEADCELL`s and the COBRAS.Also if you watch the credits at the end Ocelot has a phone call about, sucha sucha thing but reveals that he is ADAM and that he triple crossed the GRU for the PATRIOTS,which i noticed in MGS2 remember when Ocelot backstabs Col. Gurlukovich and says "I abandoned "Her"(Russia) during the Cold War".

Speaking of Ocelot,He is the same guy from MGS1/MGS2 the one that spins his Revolvers` around,This time is is voiced by Josh Keaton, rather than Pat Zimmerman as he is like 19 in this game and needs a younger voice,Ocelot is much cooler, and good lookin`
He hates Eva,and is always making this Ocelot-cat sound to call his comrades,he is a fool as well,i love the bit where Eva and The BOSS slap him.And when he takes Eva hostage and realises he has no ammo left and Eva starts kick his butt, and then does a whellie which where the front wheel drives up his head and he has tread marks all over his forhead.

Me and my two friends Daniel and Lewis like this game,Daniel likes Eva she is his favorate character as he likes.... that sorta thing.Bye and i am lookin` 4ward to MGS3:Subsistence,which i am getting for the sake of it,and MGS4:GOTP which should i hope is good.

Hey Hideo Kojima after MGS4 could we have another MGS game which we play Naked Snake again(he is unveiled to be Big Boss, but hek it won`t difuse the original storyline) i love Naked Snake,aND ALSO A RETURN Of Eva she is great, and this time she should not be a SPY and they team up again to eliminate a Metal Gear, the game should not be exactly like MGS3 but similar in terms of food hunting etc. but not to repeat that motorcycle bit, where you defeat `HOD on a Motobike,I really want Snake and Eva back they are the best.

This is by far the best game that has ever reached our shelves, i am a massive fan of the metal gear series and i have played mgs1 & mgs2, both very good, anyway,u r situated in a jungle somewhere in russia in the 1960's which at this time cold war was in its hype. In MGS3 i think u will be playing as big boss because if u remember from the other games boss cloned himself 3 times ( to create solid snake, luquid, and solidus)u can tell because in the trailer snake wears a patch over his eye which big boss had and snake would not have been alive 40 something years ago, he is 35.

it is romoured meryl will return in this game, who knows?
what i do know is that revolver ocelot will be there with obviously a new metal gear. You have no radar in this game and getting more life isn't as simple as finding a box full of goddies, u have to hunt for ur food ( and snake doesn't carry a fishing rod) raiden will not return in this game, he was a one off in mgs2, nor will solidus return, he is dead, but vamp might return, he is not dead!

The series of MGS is in a league of its own, mgs2 shifted 120,000 copies in its first week of sale, hopefuly mgs3 will top that and prove konami produce the best game in the world, after all they were the first company to introduce a game which used stealth, i strongly advise u buy this game, it will be fierce competition against GTA San Andreas and GT4.

i hope u buy it this november

Third times a charm

Okay, so in retrospect, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty was severely lacking in the story department, with its scarcity of Solid Snake, abundance of whiney Raiden, and speeches on the evils of nuclear war--not to mention a final resolution that didn't make much sense. Forget all that. Snake Eater revives the spirit of the first Solid, with an intriguing scenario, intense action, and a long adventure that stays riveting almost every step of the way--all wrapped in high-gloss cinematic cut-scenes and voice-overs that could have come from any A-action film. The game's long, but not overly so (save a few boss battles that go a few rounds too many), and it brilliantly combines the wide outdoors with confining interiors. The game's Cold War 1960s setting puts Snake right at cloak-and-dagger home. His mission is to infiltrate Soviet territory and rescue a nuclear scientist before he can create a weapon for a renegade group of Russian soldiers called the Cobra Unit. Complicating matters is Snake's former mentor, The Boss, who has defected to the Russians for personal reasons. The Solid titles dish out some intriguing boss characters, and Snake Eater features a pack of self-loathing, suicidal psychos condemned by their own murderous skills. Defeating them requires brains (The Sorrow), brawn (The Fear), or a combination of both (The End). Although it's set an era long gone, there's an effective arsenal of weapons and gadgets to collect. Dealing in stealth, there's a camouflage system where the uniform, face paint, and stance determines how well you blend into an environment, but to keep his stamina high, Snake must gather his own food, heal serious wounds, set fractures, and even cure diseases. It adds excellent depth to the game and makes the main character that much more human. Close-quarter combat is emphasized this time, as Snake can take on enemies in an up close and personal fashion by using his knife and pistol combination to extract information, create a human shield, or silently dispose of his prey. The solid controls keep the multiple functions literate and easy to remember. However, one of the few hitches is trying to fire your pistol while you use an enemy as a human shield. Somehow, you must keep your thumb on the [C] button and tap [SQ], which is quite a feat to accomplish. The game's lack of a custom-controller configuration doesn't help, either. The aesthetics pack a huge punch. The steaming jungles are fittingly brought to life, albeit with a tad of slowdown and other minor distractions for the otherwise-steady frame rate. The audio is first-rate, with the usual excellent voice casting, poignant sound effects, and rousing music score--some of the best the industry has to offer. Games of this high caliber don't come around often, but they're certainly appreciated when they do. Rumors abound that this is the last Metal Gear Solid game. If this is the case, Snake Eater is a superb swan song...and one of the best games of the year.

I enjoyed Playstation's Metal Gear Solid and PS2's Metal Gear Solid 2, and I was so looking forward to Snake Eater. Well, after reading several reviews and having an enjoyable experiences with the previous games, I am dismayed after logging many hours on this installment.

Pro's: Incredible cut scenes (Graphics and Sound Only), sometimes fun slithering in the grass, Tranquilizer gun, wadding through a mudpit, Using enemies as a shield, umm...

Con's: Cheesy dialogue and villians (Snake's 1st mission is on a time limit and you spend 1/2 or more chatting it up with your superiors. In which, they tell you nothing relevant. You soon wonder why they would send Snake on the mission if they have to constantly remind him of what to do and not to do), Horrible camera views (Bird's Eye View, where Snake walks towards you, but you can't see what lies ahead so, you constantly have to stop and check the view), Aiming gets old with some guns...you'd think a skilled warrior would be more steady, sluggish movement. It gets old fast and usually appreciate realistic movements, but this one isn't realistic. I guess with Cheesy villians and Cheesy "Stances" it should be assumed. I won't go on...you get the point.
Remember, this is from someone who enjoyed the previous Metal Gears (and no, I didn't appreciate the blonde guy from part 2).

Oh My God

This Game is so Frickin' awesome! I love it. Just so everyone knows, this is a STEALTH game, not a run and gun game. Also, you do not play as Solid Snake. You play as Big Boss (who you probably don't know about unless u have played Metal Gear 1&2) The Fifth game in the Metal Gear Series, Snake Eater is amazing. There is never a dull moment. Here is a summary of the game *warning spoilers ahead! if you do not want to know what happens do not read anymore!* During the Cold War, a man named Sokolov is being held prisoner. Snake is sent in to rescue him. The Boss defects and throws you off a bridge. She is with Volgin and Ocelot (the bad guys). They take Sokolov and blow up his research facility with a nuke. To prove it's innocence, the USSR wants the U.S. to kill the boss. They send in Snake. You fight through the Cobras, the boss's team. You get a female spy named Eva to help you, who is always showing her bra. The Cobras are The Pain, a crazy hornet guy, The Fear, a spider soldier, The End, an ancient sniper, The Fury, a guy with a flame thrower, and The Sorrow, who you do not really fight, and is a dead medium. You get captured by Volgin and tortured. Your eye is shot out. You escape and heal up. You come back and plant C3 on the hangar fuel tanks to blow up the shagohod, a tank that can launch nukes. You fight Volgin and beat him, and he coughs up blood. You escape and get on Eva's motorcycle just as the base explodes. The Shagohod comes out and you run from it. A big chase scene happens. You try many times to destroy the Shagohod, then Volgin comes out and you kill him. Then you head to the escape and kill the boss. You have a final showdown with Ocelot and then he leaves. You then get back to the U.S. and sleep with eva. She leaves and puts a tape on the table. it explains that she was working for the chinese and she wanted the money that volgin had. So did the U.S. and the defect was a ruse. The Boss was trying to destroy the Shagohod and get the legacy under orders from the president. The operation expanded when the nuke was launched. You are awarded the title of Big Boss. I have left out many details, but the game has a great story, great gameplay, and it is just flat out awesome. It is easily the best game of 2004, and it should win game of the year.
