This is the best game I've played in years.

Plot, graphics, gameplay, music... everything is totally top-notch.

Don't buy this game unless you're prepared to waste a LOT of time that could otherwise be spent working, doing yardwork, running errands, and otherwise being a productive member of society.

Take one little straight laced robot, team him up with one cool cat (an alien cat maybe?), send them on a quest to find a legendary hero, throw in some of the craziest weapons you've ever seen and what do you get? You get Ratchet and Clank for the PS2.

At a time when games and gamers are taking themselves WAY too seriously, Ratchet and Clank is a breath of fresh air from Sony and Insomniac Studios. You are Ratchet. A humble cat (well he looks like a cat at least) living on a backwater planet scrounging for parts for your space ship. Suddenly a little robot falls from the sky. And before you can say another word the two of you are paired up on an adventure to find Captain Quark in order to save countless planets from the evil Chairman Drek. Sounds Silly? Well, it is! But that's why Ratchet and Clank is so much fun. It never takes itself too seriously. It really does poke alot of good natured fun at alot of the classic video game cliche's. The weapons have great names (the Pyracitor, Glove of Doom for instance) and are equally fun to use!

The graphics on this game give you the feeling that it's something out of a Saturday morning cartoon. And believe me that's not a "bad thing". The worlds are incredibley well rendered and detailed. Large city scapes, buzzing traffic, huge buildings. There's alot of detail here and the backgrounds aren't just static. You get the sense that these worlds are going about their day to day business. There's also alot of room to explore on these worlds. Which is part of what drives the game. It's part exploration and part action game. The story is moved along in the form of cutscenes which are quite humorous. You'll wish there was a rewind feature so you could watch them again. The sounds are also very crisp and clean. There are alot of different types of sounds working here but to their credit the programming team never makes it seem cluttered.

The controls are very smooth and intuitive. After a very short learning curve (about maybe 30 minutes) you'll be blasting away. Ratchet's wrench can also be throw like a boomerang from a crouch. You might think that it would be difficut to aim but it's not. You can also fire weapons from a first person aiming mode. There are 36 different weapons in Ratchet and Clank. So there's no shortage of ways to blast the bad guys.

In a time when video games have gotten almost too serious it's great to see a title that is a pure joy to play. Ratchet and Clank is one of those rare games that makes you smile from start to finish. There just aren't enough words to describe how much fun this game is. And for the new Greatest Hits price, there's no way you can go wrong with this title.

Probably the best game I own for the PS/2!

This is an extremely well done game that combines excellent graphics, great gameplay, and an amusing story. Its a platform game in the tradition of Super Mario Bros, but it also incorporates elements of first-person shooters, puzzles, and strategy games as well. The story involves a space rodent named Ratchet, who gets sucked into an intergalactic conspiracy spawned by an evil corporation. Each level is a separate planet, and once you land on a planet, the game doesn't need to reload anything from the disk until you accomplish all your objectives there and leave for the next planet. If you're a big time gamer, you'll probably end up finishing this game in a matter of days, if not hours. For the rest of us, it can easily suck up a few weeks to a month. It certainly is addictive enough to consume all of your free time if you let it. Its whimisical plot is well suited for gamers of all ages, and I would recommend it to anyone, even if they're not fans of the platform genre in general. I can't wait for the sequel!

There is not any other games like it. Excelent graphics.

I love this game It was either between this a sly cooper for me and I chose this and I'm glad I did. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it starts off way to slow and when it gets going it may take you a while to beat the levels. The good things are the controls which are really easy. And the graphics are awesome. I hope sony improves upon these points and creates an awesome sequel that will definately get 5 stars.

Incredible graphics, awesome weapons (and a lot of them), fun storyline -- This game [is great]!! "Insomniac" - what a true description! Listen, I'm 32, a registered nurse with a full time job, a husband, mortgage, all the responsibilities of adult life and I can't get away from this game!

This is a great game. With all the wacky weapons involved you can tell that the makers are still kids at heart. This game has the best c-toon graphics I've seen on a console. The voice acting looks great. This game is more fun than challenge, which may or may not appeal to some people. The planets are enourmous and completely interactive. Theres no shortage of motion in the enviornments, theres always jets flying all over the place, stuff being blown up, sand sharks lurking underground... Although there's many things to do after you beat the game, this game is still a little short. It took me just under 30hrs to beat, but I tend to be a little slow. The average gamer should beat it at around 27hrs. This game is also slightly short on bosses at 3 which I can think of off hand, and the most enjoyable boss fight can only be fought once. This is why I would have given this game fourhalf stars if I could. Still though, I would recommend you buy it. I never really was a fan of action platformers but if your like me then you buy it for the GUNS.

this is a very fun game if you are into rpgs. most of the game is easy except for a few parts. i really liked it and finished it in a week.

rachet and clank is one of the best games ever made. the graphics are stunning the sound is top notch and theres a whole lot of gameplay. unlike the typical platformer rachet and clank focuses on weapon usages and the best way to use a weapon. the game is connected to an intergalatic hub world consisting of 18 planets. theres a map of objectives to be completed on that planet. rachet and clank happily does not fall into the tradtional platformer item hunt. rather than going around collecting to complete a mission. you simply collect to be able to buy new weapons with the currency of bolts. you start out with a mere bomb glove and a wrench at first but the weapons start getting better. like the pyrocitor- giant flamethrowing gun. the blaster- responsive fastshooting pistol. the ryno 2- groundbreaking machine gun. visibomb gun- gun that allows you to move the camera after the shot is delivered. the devastator- huge rifal. theres also the morpho ray the tesla claw and others it would be hard to list them all. the gagets range from the therminator and the trespasser to the dynamo. rachet even gets a hoverboard which he can use in the planet rilgar racing competion. the visaul scope and graphics are simply amazing. the game features graphics that would make jak and daxters graphics look weak by comparison. you are in huge excotic futurustic citys forests and vistas while everything runs at a smooth 60 frames per second. you see bright colors and you can see so much detail work and objects and vast plains ahead. youll wonder all night how they put together such a graphical masterpeice. this games beats jak and daxter in every way heck theres even a skating pole where you can skate in one planet. not to metion how interactive and minutely detailed everything is. are you conviced yet go get this game. but wait thats not all rachet and clank is twice as long as jak and daxter.
