C&C Generals is definitely one of the best RTS games there ever has been. And with the low price for the game and the expansion, this is a great deal.
Generals was a very solid game. A good challenge with excellent graphics and gameplay. the only problem I had was the difficulty settings. If you play this on easy, it was too easy. It you played it on hard, it was extremely hard. Other than that, the only other thing would be that I wouldn't reccommed this game if your computer is below the following: P3 1000mhz, 256 ram, 64meg video card. It was quite laggy, but playable. I upgraded to a P4 2.8mhz, 256ram, 128meg video card and this game played great on the highest settings.

You also get the expansion pack Zero Hour which I believe is the second best expansion pack ever (behind only Warcraft 3).
You get 15 more missions that are pretty challenging with more units, maps, and just plain fun.
There is also something called the Generals challenge which allows you to choose 1 of 9 different generals and you play against the other generals in 7 different battles (they mix them up depending on which general you choose). And this is quite challenging (again, don't play this on easy as it is too easy) and very fun. You can also use these generals for games vs the computer opponents or for on-line/LAN play. The generals give you more units and buildings. this expansion pack is what really makes this game rock. Alot of replay value here.

If you haven't gotten any of the C&C Generals games yet, here is your chance to get the whole thing at a great price and enjoy a great game.

Still poor support from EA...but the game is awesome

My son and I have played Red Alert & Red Alert 2 together for a long time. We bought this product and the difference is amazing. The graphics and missions are much more like todays warfare around the world. For example, you can upgrade a regular soldier (USA ranger) to be able to capture buildings...you don't need an engineer. You can upgrade your tanks to have drones ...so every tank or Humvee can have upgrades....so a cluster of vehicles has all these cool things flying overhead helping win battles. You can call in airstrikes and lots of other cool things that make the game much more realistic.

On support...EA still misses....for example in the book it says if you register they will give you a free cheat code or tip for doing that. The only thing they gave us was a note saying we could now play the game online. On top of that the click through menu on the software for Generals main website is no longer there..and there is no redirection (if you can believe that!!). there's no easy way to ask questions and these problems are not addressed on their FAQ's page.

We haven't figured out how to do everything on this game yet, and the lack of tutorials or tips is frustrating for my son (7 yrs old). Yet the missions are more like Iraq/Afghanistan warfare in the news over the last few years than it is like Viet Nam or WWII.

We have had these same problems with almost every EA game we own. But still this game is an incredible improvement over the other Command and Conquer games.

Great installment to the series.

I bought this without reading very many reviews because I've loved all the C&C games in the past. I'm very pleased with it so far. The graphics are a huge boost from the previous installment, and the little details like civilians and foliage are great, and the little cut-scenes are right on. Character sounds are awesome and kind of amusing the first times around for some. Money-harvesting is pretty slow, and there's some slowdown in the game even on my new computer, but as of yet I haven't been very annoyed. The 'story' isn't too indepth, but that's to be expected. I haven't gotten to the expansion, Zero Hour, yet but by reading the manual and the few reviews that I did it apparently makes the game even better. A great installment in the series.

Finally, a Real-Time Strategy Game that Rivals TA

I picked up C&C Generals Deluxe on a whim, and was not disappointed. Real-Time Strategy has to remain fresh and engaging to be worth playing, and you have tons of options in this game.

First, you can play as one of three forces -- the U.S., China, or the "GLA" -- a terrorist group. Each of the three forces has unique skills, abilities, and weapons. With the Deluxe edition, you have two mission tracks for each of the three forces, so you have plenty of missions to play. Additionally, the skirmishes are incredible, you can edit your own maps, and online play is great.

I'm still partial to Total Annihilation as the best RTS game ever made, and I don't think C&C quite measures up, since it has fewer options (for example, only four aircraft types as the U.S., two as China, and zero as the GLA) than TA. However, this is still a very solid game, and I've spent many hours playing this title. This is highly recommended.

Amazing

This is one of the best RTS out there. Battle for Middle-earth from the same developers will beat it, but for now it is the best. I rarely play this game singleplayer now, but it is fun and if youdon't have an internet or LAN it is still worth buying because the computer is really good. When palying against friends thats when the havoc unleashes. There is nothing more fun than to appear in your friend's base with a huge group of upgraded Overlords (best tank in the game with radiation spreading shells) and blasting the his base or hacking into his superweapon just a few seconds before it fires. It is a great game that anybody will like. I've been playing ever since it was released at my friend's house and than I bought this Deluxe Edition a while ago. The datadisk adds a lot of new weapons and vehicles that are perfect for every side in the game. There are three sides in the game: USA (the technical one), China (heavy machinery), GLA (Global Liberation Army - terrorists). They are all unique but I prefer GLA most in the game because they have no power source so your opponent can't take out your power plants and completely destroy you with one attack. The Datadisk gives them motorbike riders which are great for wuick attacks and the ability to have tanks invisible. This is a great game that u should buy if you're looking for great RTS gameplay. There is only one problem. Requirements. The engine has to produce lots of units at a time and that drains your memory. I would recommend to have about 1.5 - 2 GHz of processor power, a graphics card as good (or better) as Radeon 9100 or maybe GeForce FX5200 ULTRA. I played it on Radeon 9000 and GeForceFX5600 and it wnet fine but you MUST, I repeat MUST have a RAM of 512Mb. Otherwise you will get a lot of lag. Buy this game, it is great!!!!!!!!!

Command & Conquer: Generals

Apparently, the people who have been knocking this game don't know what Command & Conquer even is. The rating before this one was written by somebody who doesn;t have a clue about the game, and isn't bright enough to play it. Command & Conquer: Generals is one of the best strategy games Westwwod or Electronic Arts has produced! The graphics, unless you are blind or have a very low-quality system and monitor, are some of the best 3D for this type of strategy game. The beginning missions are easy, but they get progressively harder, like the preceeding C&C versions. The AI, for strategy, is pretty good, but can bet a little predictable at times. This game has alot of extras, such as medals and side missions that make the game more enjoyable and interesting. However, I reccomend this game to people who have played the older C&C editions in the C&C Universe. If you haven't you probably won't get it. By they way, if you have a weird fixation with plumbers, or think this game is racist, you've got issues way deeper than most professionals can address. Overall, Command & Conquer: Generals is the icing on the cake when it comes to strategy and C&C!

Very fun after LAN finally setup

It took me and my friend nearly two hours to get a multiplayer LAN game working, updating patches and working XP firewall settings, but we finally got it running and it was totally worth the wait. I love the vast differences in the three different armys, China, GLA, and USA, such as different super-weapons like nukes, EMPs, and plasma guns from the sky. The two of us were able to play against normal, hard, and brutal opponents and can make the game as tough as you want it to be. The graphics are awesome, the music is great, the migs are cool, and the game is so fun when using 'Black Lotus', your building-capturing invisible spy, to get back into a round that you think you've lost!

The best C&C game since the original Red Alert!

Amazing game but wrong plot

The best RTS game so far. I got a soupped up computer & the game is just amazing. Incredible soundtrack. BUT one thing that I have a problem with: the story. In this game, China is going after the terrorist org (which they attacked China for no reason)while the USA don't want to be part of. In the real world, it is COMPLETELY the opposite: the USA goes after the terrorist org while China is a country that doesn't wage war.

One of the greatest command games ever!!!

Command and Conquer Generals Deluxe Edition is the best game i have ever played before. You have to get (required) the general edition to play the zero hour edition. Which this extrodanary game has. My advice is to get it while you can. So have a blast!!! ;)

This is one of the best games I've ever played. Online play and replayability, especially with a DSL connection is awesome. Good graphics, excellent gameplay and the same easy interface and other goodies that made the C&C series so irresistable. Don't believe the system requirements, though. You need atleast a 2.5GHz with 128MB graphics card and atleast 128MB RAM to get this game to run properly. I recommend as full up a system as you can get. If you are a fan of the C&C series and haven't played this yet, wait no longer!
