Ahh the good old days when you played EverQuest and decided it was time to get Ruins of Kunark. You went out and purchased RoK and installed it. Then once all the patching was done you were able to click "Kunark Patch" and then everything was patched INTO the original game, then you hit the "Register Kunark" button and input the serial key. Same goes for Velious. It now seems that even just before the Luclin game, they were "pre-patching" Luclin files into your existing Velious game. My question is this, WHY? Why ruin a fun game if you, the player, have no plans of going to Luclin? Why should I have to have the game ruined and now I get the ka-chunk graphics, bad framerate, even in River Vale my home town, West Commonlands around the Druid Ring is now so laggy that it is like swimming in a see of molasses to just turn around. Zones that were once easy to explore are no more than a waste of time trying to run through. It is like as soon as you hit an area that has 1: a lot of people or 2: A lot of rendering to do your graphics start to lag out and the framerate gets choppy. I loved the hell out of this game pre-Luclin patching. Now I can't even go to most dungeons or graphically intense zones without my computer seizing up and sputtering. So I warn the newbies who are wanting to buy this game. DON'T! VI should have gotten all the bugs and kinks out of the game and NOT promised a shelf date that was too soon. They claim they need to keep up wit DAoC. Well DAoC from what I have seen from screenshots has better grpahics than EQ and they only require a 400Mhz Processor and 128 MB RAM, unlike EQ that says if you want to play the game you need to upgrade your systems. Making us go out and spend a lot of cash to do so only to STILL have the problesm of ka-chunk graphics, choppy, molasses-like framerate and slow zoning times. Zoning times going from 10-15 seconds now being more like 3-5 minutes.

SOL is all about busty

Apparently this person has never playid SOL because they give you the option of turning on either male or female models of every race, including horses and pets. The models are fine unless you are a tight wad. The models are geared towards the 95 percent of the male players not the 5 percent of women. Also, if you think that busty women are bad and killing other people and things is ok, you are messed up in the head.

I have enjoyed playing EQ for quite a while and have a couple of fairly high level characters on it; I looked forward to the Luclin expansion, but the dreary computer hassles (still not resolved) associated with the expansion (and the socalled help line from Verant/Sony is a cruel hoax, their boilerplate automated responses to questions are clear evidence they have not put in the technical resources to help at all) have sorta soured me on the game

This was an extremely poor expansion. Verant Interactive rushed to get this product out of the door and in the processes caused a lot of stability issues with the Luclin client. Even 2 months after release they are still trying to fix bugs within the SoL code to allow players to play at a decent speed.

Save your money. If you have to have this expansion wait another 6 months where in typical MMORPG fashion the majority of bugs will be fixed.

I have yet to see a player complain about SoL at all. As the games name states, it is now even possible to do ever quest more than the other previous expansions. Having played them all, i would have to agree. EQ is not for kids (you know who you are, stop fussing), if you cant upgrade your own computer then dont get this game cuz you will just ad yourself to that list of kids with parents who spoiled them with their credit card accounts to play EQ, then complain about spending money to upgrade the puters CPU or video card. Geeze, after reaching level 55 i thought i was getting near the end, nope, i havent even seen half the land that the original everquest had. If you wanna see pretty pictures and easy game playing with fancy doodahs maybe some of those other everquest look alike games will do, those that claim to have made EQ better, just dont complain when you come back to EQ when you get tired of how limited the game is. This game is nearly 3 years old and unlike most games, has patches weekly it seems to keep it changing for the better, which means that during the wee hours they patch the servers. Not sure whose fault it is, but Im sure they could've had better ideas than the continuous patches when SoL first came out. I hope more reviews come out a while after the games patching beginnings do to make the review rating right.

Folks, please go to Everquest's official website. You'll see that this game IS NOT Windows 95 compatible as listed on Amazon. It is compatible with Win 98, and it's run quite well on my Win ME system.

Is it money well spent? OH YEAH. The game is absolutely wonderful, for new players, and seasoned EQ players. Each previous expansion has always been well worth it, but Luclin outshines them all. The textures created by the new graphics system is the best I've ever seen for PC, and I've been a hard core gamer for some time now.

I'll leave it to the other reviewers to tell you about the wonderful features and additions. All I can say is that the price is excellent for such a fantastic product.

Everquest is the best game in the world!! But it is soo addicting i can sit here for like 16 hours straight and think i was on for only 1 hour i love it and i cant wait to get the expansion!!!

Sluggish compare to DAOC

This was a highly anticipated expansion for the most successful MMPOG ever made. However, the magic is not there any more. The expansion is SLOW, I meant slow for a P1.7 with 512 RAM, GeForce 3 video card, and ADSL connection with average ping under 40, Windows 98 SR2. It runs fine on my XP machine with P3 933 and 256 RAM, GeForce 2, however. Once I restore everything back to pre-Luclin (copy back the original EQ directory), everything is fast again. DO NOT install this thing without backing up your current EQ directory.

It's a good expansion fo EQ!

If you like to play Everquest, you must get this expansion for better graphic and advanced game play. I LVOE the new look of my chracter. (My armor looks AWESOME, too!)
