Good Job

This expansion helped improve the gameplay through the new character models, introduced a new class as well as race(class hasn't been done since original, race since kunark). A few minor bugs are in it, but that's to be expected with any software especially a game under so much daily stress. The higher system requirements are what you should be running soon on your computer anyways so they are no big deal. Overall its the best expansion yet.

Best game ever...

To me, the newbies who say that DAoC is much better than everquest just say that because they can't understand how to play EQ. I went out and bought DAoC, and I played it for 1 hour. I sold it to my friend the next day. Sure, the graphics are flashy, but with the new Luclin expansion it more than doubles DAoC's polygon output. I had more fun playing the very first eq thatn DAoC. Theres about 15 times as much space. Trust me on this one guys, EQ is just better.

Great Game but Only for Powerful PCs - recd specs too low

Ok, I am now officially an EQ addict, have 3 accounts so that my family and friends can play. 2 with Luclin upgrade. However, I have to warn purchasers of the hardware requirements needed to run this ideally.

Box says Minimum P2 400 256MB, recommended P3 or better (no Mhz stated) 512MB. Yeah right. I have a 1.5 yr old Vaio P3 750, 512MB, 16MB AGP Card, cable modem, win 98 and I had to run it with a bunch of options turned off. Even then it would go into slow motion every once in a while. It runs acceptably on my Thinkpad A30 1ghz, 640MB Win XP at 1024x768 mode, with most graphics options turned on but the sound chops up even on the lowest audio mode.

I upgraded the Vaio with a ATI Radeon 7500 64MB card and was able to run great with all memory models turned on in the older zones. However, in Shar Vahl on Luclin, there is still some slowness when panning quickly due to the high detail graphics. Not satisfied I bought a new custom built PC, 1.7G P4, 1G mem, 64MB NVidia GEForce 3, SB Audigy Gamer, Win XP, and finally after downloading the latest drivers was able to run the game with everything turned on to the best settings.

If you have this you will really enjoy the game. It brings the several year old Everquest almost but not quite in par with some of the newer games in terms of image quality and interface. However, the size of the online experience and the huge community makes up for this.

The new graphics set does change the look of the characters quite a bit and there is no consistency. For example a my dark haired Druid in Luclin is Blonde when viewed in the old version.

Great game but with a few minor drawbacks.

This is one of the best online games i have ever played, because of its countless environments, creatures, items, spells, and i could keep going almost forever. Its very addictive and fun. But one of the drawbacks is that it wont get really fun untill you get to a level above 25, and that could take a few months. Also they didnt make the old areas of the game much better, they did make them nicer but not as good as Luclin. The game is great with only a few tiny drawbacks so you should buy it and try it out and I dont think you will hate it.

ok.. Sony didn't learn the lesson

1)Graphic is old (please, wake up and compare this game with others MMORPG on the market now)
2)Lag is awful
3)Customer service? .. hemmm what is it?
4)Bugs: at will !
5)Camp, camp, camp .. and camp again. Play EQ if you like to camp mobs for hours and hours and hours, wasting your time doing the same thing at will.
6)SoL is huge, yes, but if you think this is a positive thing then prepare yourself to spend HOURS running up and down with an high % to be killed by lag & ubermonsters.
7)This game is a dinosaur in the MMORPG world!

P.S.: played EQ for 3,5 years: I know very well what is this game.

Now I'm a DAoC player and I'm happy !
Good Luck EQ players!!! The whole "very-first-set-of-EQ-players" (we tested it) is waiting for you in DAoC.

SoL, is a must have.

I have 633 mhz, 256 mb RAM, and a GeForce 2 on my computer. I keep everything on high, seeing the game at it's best. And Lag? What is this lag you all speak of? Because lag is as rare as any rare spawn on the face of Norrath (And Luclin ;)! I keep on as many character models my computer can handle (which is about half of them) And the game runs just fine. I get a little lag here and there, mostly from being around a huge group of people, but other then that no problums. ^^

And what do people see in DAoC? Ive played it. I had fun with it for a little while, but it just gets old and it gets old FAST. In EQ, the choices for places to explore is almost endless, not to mention everytime I vist certain zones I just stand back and think "Wow". In DAoC... I see a castle...Woohoo a castle! This game is soooo cool now! Not to mention all the characters look the same. Oh! and the helms! I can't stttaaannnddd the helms in DAoC! Looks like my character is wearing a bowl on her head. Im stickin with EQ. There's no other online game that is just so different, in so many ways then EQ. Not to mention challanging!

This game is the bomb, all of you who say you don't like it due to bugs you need to be patient, they will work it out. I have a amd 600mhz with 380 ram and tnt 2 vid card, it runs good, if your a true EQ gamer the occasional lag will not matter to you, in closing If you like EQ for sure get luclin (...)

Hey, this game is fun.. but the graphics are only 'ok'. The main problem i have with the graphics is that you cant see any atmosphere or sky effects. There is an option for '3d sky' but it only works in one zone that i've seen so far and it is just random cloud patterns. Also, you cant see very far into the distance. If you've played Operation Flashpoint and you like the sky/horrizon effects, you will be dissapointed. Also, the various avatars are not very accurate. sometimes they game looses track of NPCs and players and they appear out of no where and disappear.. Apparently it is lag related but i've played many multiplayer games like Unreal tournament and i've never seen anything this bad.. except duke 3D back in 1995.
