Not what i expected...

First of all, let me say that this is a pretty good game. However, there is not much to it. Once you beat it ( 2-4 days max), there is not much more to do. The graphics are chrisp and clean, the sound is also quite good, storyline... well you will have to be the judge of that. (TIP) Put the GD-Rom in a PC computer with a CD-Rom and check out the pics on the game disc, quite good if i do say so myself. Also of you want to see a slighty better intro read on... Check it out. You won't be disappointed.

DOA 2

To be honest, I thought this game could not compare to Soul Calibur and when I first started my hopes were starting to come true. Don't get me wrong, the story mode dosen't stick together at all and the last boss, I mean who is he? But when my friends get together that is when this game comes alive. Tag team (4 player tag no less) or versus this game truly kicks! Once you get past the usual punch, punch, kick combo and you start getting the reversal down, the game becomes a lot more fast and furious. Every move can be reversed or countered. To make this short Soul Calibur still is the number one fighting game on the Dreamcast hands down. But close second is DOA 2. Buy this game!

Dead or Alive 2 is the best game this side of Soul Caliber. Itmight not be as good, but it is pretty close! Visuals: Arethese polygons? As a man: these women look hottt! they look like real women.. "It's sooo reeaal!" Bass looks like a really huge version of Hulk Hogan and Zack looks suspicious with his "manssire" as Seinfeld put it. Control: pretty nice! but could've used the controls a little better. Overall: It's a pretty good game furthering the fact that the Dreamcast is a fighting fanatics dream!

i am unused to games like this because of the 3d characters and ability to throw your opponent against walls or off ledges, but i loved this game anyway. the visuals are some of the best i have seen, and can even compete with those of recent computer games.

the variety of moves in this game left me frustrated : the 5-day rental just wasn't long enough!

the only problem with this game is that the animations of the female characters are really not suited for a younger audience (hence the Teen rating) so i wouldnt suggest this for younger kids. but overall it is a great game, and i would recommend buying it

Great Gameplay, Hot Babes!

This game shows off the awesome potential of the Dreamcast platform more than any other game. Graphically, it is superior to even the mighty Soul Calibur. The fighters themselves are beautifully rendered. The physics are very realistic. Best of all, there are not stupid "magic powers," such as in Mortal Kombat. It is just pure fighting, with lots of unexpected surprises. The characters look like thay could inspire a new computer graphic anime genre. If you like fighting games, click that order button now!

The greatest looking game on the dreamcast!

Bottom line, this game is gorgeous. From the moment I fired this bad boy up I knew I was in for a treat. In my opinion, DOA2 graphically surpasses soul calibur, and has a deeper fighting engine. However, as good as this game is, it is plagued by a lack of motivation to beat over and over. The story of the game isn't explained too well, and thus far, nobody on the internet has found anything to unlock by defeating it, leaving the consumer with no hidden fighters, costumes, or even an art gallery! By purchasing this game, you are doing so because u want a quality fighter. Nothing more. It's very similar to fighters of ten years ago such as the original street fighter on the super nintendo. It's a great fighter, but don't expect to be rewarded with anything after beating it except the satisfaction of kicking your friend's behinds. If you had to choose between soul calibur and DOA2, I'd tell u to choose soul calibur, simply for its depth and hidden extras. If you already own soul calibur, then I highly recommend DOA2. However, if you only have 50 dollars to spend on a game over the next few months, and are looking for something new to run on the console, I'd wait fifteen more days for resident evil : code veronica. Sure, it is a completely different genre, but your gonna get a more bang for your buck. If u have the cash to spend, then you have to own this game. It is a welcome addition to your dc library. Peace!

If you have friends, you will love this game

In the multiplayer modes, this game is unmatched. It is beautiful, fast, and the fighters are well balanced. I even enjoy the cheesy lines characters when they win ("Victory excites me!" has to be my favorite).

Singleplayer is weak, very weak; this is definitely not a game to have with you when stranded on a desert island. The story is nonexistent, and one can easily beat the game in half an hour on the first try.

That said, fighting games are meant to be played with others, and for this reason I rate Dead or Alive 2 highly. DOA2 is the top multiplayer fighting game for the Dreamcast, and I think it is scary to think of how nice DOA 3 might be.

BEAUTIFUL.... but there isn't enough to do!

Ok, the graphic are... AWESOME... outstanding, the levels are cool too, but there is simply not enough to do. The main "story" option is only 5 battles long (and no, the battles aren't best two out of three like most fighters, it's just one fight)! and there are umm, 8 characters I think. So after 40 battles you've seen it all. Sure there are tag and survival modes, but those are just for show, and you only get to play on one level for both. And no, there are ZERO extras, no hidden characters, and nothing special happens no matter how you beat the game. It's a shame really, because I still like the game...

Great fighter.. but not without its problems

The problem with this game is that it came out after Soul Calibur. It's going to be compared to it no matter what. And since there's NO extras on this game at all, it's just not as good to someone like me who really doesn't have another player for 2 player games. Dead or Alive 2 is a fantastic fighter, but for a decent single player experience, I have to go with Soul Calibur.. if you have people to play against, go with Dead or Alive 2

Only Second to Soul Calibur

If you bought Soul Calibur you owe it to yourself to buy this game. I just bought it today and it totally rocks. I hope to place a more detailed review of it with movies and pictures on my website tonight. E-mail me if you want to know the url. I strongly feel that this game is the current game that shows the Dreamcast's power. The only other 2 previous games the showed what the Dreamcast could really do power-wise was NFL2K and Soul Calibur. This game is the 3rd so go get a copy now!
