After playing DOA Ultimate for Xbox, people may be tempted to buy this version for Dreamcast. Don't bother, this version for Dreamcast is extremely boring. It has zero replay value. This game is garbage compared to the better Xbox versions.

Other Dreamcast games that are 100 times better: Virtua Fighter 3, Soul Calibur, and Project Justice. These 3 games are excellent and are only available on Dreamcast.

This game blows chunks

Horrible. Bad controls, clunky, clumsy character movement and totally easy to beat. Only thing that deserves praise is the nicely done character renderings. Oh...and the storyline of the game DOES NOT MAKE SENSE! Move on, nothing to see here...Soul Calibur is still the better game here.

Good but not great.

DOA2 is a fun game to play with friends that can play it also.

First off the game has NO extras. That in itself is disappointing!

Secondly, the single player game [...] BIG time. As a result the team battles and versus battles with friends are all you will have to hang on to.

These 2 flaws really killed the game for me. I love extras and a good single player mode since I can't have friends over everyday.

On the plus side, the graphics are great and the gameplay is fun, espically with friends. I'll recommend this game as a good game to play with friends. If you don't have that option then you couls let it slip by.

Gorgeous visuals, terrible everything else

It's no Soul Calibur. Lacks alot of extras... I mean c'mon - of course I want a great arcade port, which this is, but it's for a console... where are the extra's? The layout and character design just plain ..... Just compare the quality of the voice acting in DoA2 with Soul Calibur and you'll see what I mean.

This is very fun but after you beat it there is not much more you can do except play your friends. I suggest buying it if you love fighting games and you are tired of the Mortal Kombat Golds, Trilogy's. All good games just remakes of each other. But I'd say, if you want to buy this...DON'T. Get Dead Or Alive 3 for XBOX but if you can't get an XBOX or DOA3 for it buy this if you are still hanging on to that Dreamcast.

Beautiful game, but very empty.

Of all the games to be released for the Dreamcast, I was most looking forward to Dead or Alive 2. When I popped the game into my machine, I wasn't disappointed. The graphics are awesome! However, after playing the game for a couple of hours, I was not disappointed, just a bit let down. All of the things that I found appealing about the first DOA were not included with the second one. No extra costume changes that I've been able to find. Nothing to unlock after beating the game, and the endings are pretty weak at best. I even bought the "official book" from Prima that stated "All Secret Characters Revealed!"...well, I've read through the book and there aren't any. To sum up, the gameplay is great and the environments are beautiful, and Jann Lee still reverses everything you throw at him and beats you up quickly. This game is perfect if you only plan on playing with a friend, but it wasn't good enought for me to keep.

One fatal flaw...

Looking for another kick-arse fighting game for your Dreamcast? DOA2 might be what you are looking for. The fighting arenas and sound effects are incredible. The graphics are the best yet on any U.S. console. Load times were the fastest I have seen to date. The between fight cinematics are a nice touch too, although cheesy at times (to be expected for fighter games). And the tag mode is incredible!

BUT...

DOA2 just isn't very deep at all. It has only 12 characters, most of whom are very similar. Extremely easy to beat as well. There is nothing to unlock/discover about the game either... everything is available from the start. For me, the game just lacked depth. Rent first for sure!

Not what i expected...

First of all, let me say that this is a pretty good game. However, there is not much to it. Once you beat it ( 2-4 days max), there is not much more to do. The graphics are chrisp and clean, the sound is also quite good, storyline... well you will have to be the judge of that. (TIP) Put the GD-Rom in a PC computer with a CD-Rom and check out the pics on the game disc, quite good if i do say so myself. Also of you want to see a slighty better intro read on... Check it out. You won't be disappointed.

Excellent game at first.

This game graphically is as good as Soul Calibur. When you buy this game at first you'll think there's so many modes of play that you'll never get bored. But you're wrong. After you beat all the modes about 50 times it starts to get boring. So, if your thinking about buying it, just rent it.

ohhhh they try with a story

well they tried to make a storyline, but it wasn't to my extent a real story. They give you a few lines, and you mostly have to figure the rest out. If your looking for a game with a story, dont buy this. but..

If your looking for an all out fighting game i think this is great. its pretty realistic ( exept for all the damage a human can take without his/her fighting being affected, but hey arent all fighting games that way?) i think this rates as a fighting game better than all the others like teken, streetfighter, or marvel vs capcom. this game definetly rules over them. its not to confuseing, but i must admit it gets boreing after a little tme of playing. While its good for a short rental period, i would wait till this game gets a bit cheaper to buy it. right now its up there with NFL2k1 and other very popular high priced games where it doesnt belong.

There is also one strange fact i noticed about this game. its got quite bouncy breasts and other semi-perverted parts to it. Whenn you give the girls a certain costume,(i might mention another good feature about this game is its many costumes for all the different charectors. altohugh some are rather awkward such as that freaky disco dude's mohawks and telitubby suits, but their fun.) anyway if u give the girl their costumes with their skirts, your in for a suprise!
