If you liked "Chrono Trigger" and "Final Fantasy VII" you're going to love this! This game is action packed, with the stlye of "Chrono Trigger" and the gameplay of "Final Fantasy VII," you'll play it over and over agian. It also has the 3D arts of "Dragon Ball Z's" Akira Toriyama. Definatly a must get!

It is almost here, the New Millenium. And bringing with it a new style of RPG games. Out with the old and in the with new. The graphics on the game are absoultly stunning! The game play is not to hard and it is a game that once you start it is hard to put down. But BECAREFUL! When playing this game because it is so consuming make sure you have a VMU pack to save all the fun. This is a game for those who grew up playing the very first Final Fantasy game and for those who thought RPG's are for loosers or their too weird, also for those of you who must have the absolute best that even impoted games like FF4 and FF5. This game is GREAT for everyone. If RPG's are going to be any better than this one on Dreamcast we are all in for a REAL treat.

Bored after 2-3 hours

After waiting for weeks for an RPG to be released for Dreamcast, I snatched up Evolution and ran home to play. Sadly, I found the game lacking in the following ways : 1. No apparent story or character development. 2. Endless hours spent in dungeons that are tedious and boring.....no variety from level to level. 3. B-O-R-I-N-G This game is basically a string of battles that, although visually superior to anything Playstation has to offer, becomes tedious since there is no plot or storyline to hold your interest. I have played 6 Dreamcast games since September, and have to say that I am really disappointed. I love the graphics, but the quality of the games is abysmal. It almost seems like they rushed these games into development without any attention to detail beyond graphic beauty. The only games that hold any real appeal are the fighting games (Soul Calibur) or Arcade games....and for a die-hard RPG /Action player like myself, that is just not enough to hold my interest. I am hopeful that , with time, Sega will get on the ball and produce games that are more than just pretty to look at. They had better hurry up though, Fall 2000 is rapidly approaching and I am already saving my pennies for a PS 2.

What else can you say? This RPG is the perfect start for the dreamcast. All of the other games are going to have trouble living up to these high standards. And after you beat this amazing game filled with brilliant graphics try the sequle Evolution:2! Well maybe there is a few more words to describe this game besides FUN. How about: STUNNING, BUETIFUL, and just plain old AMAZING! So go out and BUY this BRILLIANT piece of art.

This is a great game if you like RPG's. Over the years I have played a lot of RPG's such as Final Fantasy and Breath of Fire. But this is one of the BEST RPG's I've ever played! So I guarntee you hardcore RPG gamers will love this.

First R.P.G for the DREAMCAST needs improvment

R.P.G's are my favorite type of games and this is one that gives and takes away some of the pizzaz of role playing games. The battle system is a simple and easy way to do combat with your foes. Yet we have this problem with random dugeons. That can frustrate and sometimes even drive away an avid gamer. There is already a sequal out in Japan without the random dungeons. Though it won't be out till either summer or winter of this year. It is a great game and if you like R.P.G's order right away!

A big disappointment

When I bought Evolution, I was expecting to embark on an adventure that would captivate me. Instead, I embarked on a boring, tedious, and frustrating twenty hours. Not only did I throw away almost a day of my life, I might as well have destroyed fifty dollars! You begin in Mag Launcher's home town and embark on expeditions to pay back the family debt. Your father, who has been missing for three years, sends a little mute girl for you to take care of. This is the plot to this story-lacking unsaga. In addition to the painfully obvious absence of character development, the dungeons are repetitive and downright unimaginative. Computer generate tunnels that seem never to end, dominate 95 percent of gameplay. After four hours of fighting an endless number of the same seven monster in one dungeon, you return home only to receive your next mission in an even larger dungeon! If you have the patience to fight all the monsters in all the dungeons, you might have the power necessary to destroy the final boss, otherwise you will be defeated: a frustrating way to end a frustrating game. It's only redeeming quality, though, is its elegant fighting style that allows you to choose from many different spells and attacks. The "cyframe," which is a cybernetic attachment used as weapons, is an imaginative touch. Overall though, this is by far the worst RPG I have ever played and would not recommend it to anyone.

Avoid this game, Avoid this game, Avoid this game!

If you're reading this, you've already done yourself a huge favor: always spend the time to read several reviews before you spend the several dollars. With that said, I wish I had read as many REviews as I did PREviews. I bought into the pre-release hype about Evolution being the first RPG for the Dreamcast, and in the midst of my Christmas shopping I bought a copy for myself. It took just about an hour to realize I wanted my 50+ dollars back!

The game begins beautifully, and manages to remain a beautiful piece of artwork...but I wanted something to play, not frame. The town where the game begins is well crafted, it's too bad the game doesn't revolve around the town. It instead crawls into random dungeons that soon begin to look the same. Visually, the game kept me hoping for some satisfaction for several wasted game clock hours, but each dungeon became increaslingly aggravating as the boring sense of deja-vu finally lead me down the street to the nearest game-pawn-shop to salvage what cash value I could out of this dull game.

If you're still interested, RENT IT FIRST!
