Fun game

The graphics are pretty cool on this. The game is pretty repetitious until the end. The last 3rd of the missions are a lot tougher than any of the others. The crowds respond to you like you're really there. I think that's one of the most amazing things about the game. There are beggar women and grumpy guys you have to pickpocket for more throwing knives, and mental cases that shove you around. I got so tired of the beggars, I started just killing them to get them out of my way. You can kill anyone right in front of the guards. And you can beat anybody up with a fistfight and the guards don't intervene.

In order to get the missions and good will of the people, you save some citizens being hassled, and you climb up towers for lookout points. Even tho this seems tedious, it helps out a lot. When you save citizens, you get scholars you can blend in with when you are being looked for, and vigilantes help you by keeping the guards from getting to you when being chased, so it helps to make some goodwill.

A unique gameplay experience

The game gets repetitive very quickly. However it has a very unique gameplay and the plot is confusing. It was a very hyped up game and it could have been much better but its above average. The sword fighting is fun and so are some of the achievements.you have to put in at least 40 hours to get most of the achievements and get through the game.Assassinating people is much more fun in this game then in Hitman and really makes that franchise look crappy. Its definitely a rental.I'm sure the second game will be what everybody hoped for.

Assasin's Creed

This game is okay if you play it 15 minutes at a time. I was expecting a little more. I gave it a four star rating because it's graphics are great and the story line is a great idea but the missions and everything are pretty much all the same. There is no variety, no flavor. When you first play it...it seems to live up to the hype but after a few hours of game play...you have to force yourself to finish. Not cool. I could've bought something else for 60 bucks....

Awesome Game!!

I don't understand why people keep pissing and moaning about this game.. it was really really fun! The graphics were spectacular, the game play was awesome, the combat was fun, I couldn't get enough of this game. Who cares if the gameplay was slightly repetitive, I think this is a great new franchise that will do really well. People are judging video games to harshly these days, just have some fun with it and stop bitching!

Questionable Perfection

I have to say J. Powell's Review is spot on. I found myself compelled to still put my 5 cents in, just in case the developers read these comments for the inevitable sequel.

When you start the game, everything looks and plays awesome and you believe that the developers finally 'got it right'. But it seems they had a few great ideas, but then implemented them repetitiously throughout the game. Basically, every city is exactly the same, with a different color scheme. I loved the tower climbing/map idea, but after the 30th time... it gets old.

The fighting engine is great, but after being attacked every 2 minutes for no reason didn't bode well for the fun factor. One thing I would ad to J Powell's review is the totally useless backstory of the 'real' assassin. Basically, you're going from your experimental science table to the bed in your room, and back. You get to read a few emails, but that's pretty much it. I was wishing for a 'run' option, to make it pass more quickly, so I could get back to climbing another tower.

In the end, there is some fun to be had, but it gets old fast. There are some awesome ideas in this game and they are executed quite well, but there simply isn't enough variety to the gameplay and what you can do with it. It's like watching "A Christmas Story" once a week all year long. After the 20th pick-pocket quest, I wish I could have gotten half of my money back from Ubi-Soft's pocket.

I have nothing bad to say about this game. The controls are easy to learn, gameplay is smooth, decent story line, and plenty of space to explore. This game is a must have for every PS3 owner.

It's a pretty awesome game, straight into the first hour you can feel the difference. Maps and Cities are incredible. Although missions become a little routinely, would welcome in the sequel a little more of variety in what you have to do, but then again I guess based on the fact you have to assasinate people there's not too many ways to kill someone.

Overall it's a great game, well worth the price and up to the hype it received. It did freeze on me overall around 8-15 times from start to finish, never in any crucial moment, it happened when it loaded saved information mostly or when transitioning from one place to another.

I can't wait for Assasin's Creed 2, although I know it's at least 1.5 yrs away...

Assassin's Creed is a nice change of pace from games like GTA4 and Metal Gear Solid. All three games involve mission-oriented exploration of rich virtual worlds. Assassin takes you back to medieval a Palestine full of impressive architecture and colorful characters. It does have the typical Ubisoft flaws, but the game remains playable and entertaining.
