A Good Game For Xbox Live

After playing Halo, Halo 2, and now Halo 3, I can get some closure on the epic battle that occurs in the campaign missions of these games. Through the series, the campaign has been mediocre, and I think that Halo 3 gave audiences a fair ending to the trilogy. Although the campaign seemed short, the game makers added, if you will, side missions that add a few more hours of game play to the campaign of Halo 3. Some of these include unlocking achievements on the Xbox 360 Dashboard and unlocking new customizations in multi-player by finding skulls throughout the game.

But now, let's get the real fun of Halo 3. The campaign is fun until you beat the game, then its over. After that, Halo 3 may seem like another plastic disc sitting in your house. Connect to Xbox Live, and the game takes on a whole new form. The game makers of Halo 3 took all the hits of mulit-player in Halo 2 and them better. Halo 3 has a brand new ranking system for online matches that includes actual military ranks based on how well you do in matchmaking. Each game you play comes with a very detailed "carnage report" that tells all the stats from the previous game. Halo 3 also allows players to get detailed information about other players. Along with these features, each game is recorded as a film file, which you can go back and view after the game. With a camera that you control yourself, this tool will allow you to figure out where that enemy was sniping you from.

Halo 3 also has a new feature called Forge which allows you to edit your own maps. Did you feel that one map doesn't have enough tanks on it? Well, put some in, add whatever you want, the possibilities are endless. Forge takes place in real time, so if you see one of your teammates being attacked, you can help him out by supplying cover, or dropping a tank on his enemies!
If you enjoyed Halo and Halo 2, you will defiantly enjoy Halo 3. The graphics are very good, in some cases, the game looked like a movie. It is a good game by itself, but you want to experience Halo 3 the way it was meant to be, you have to play it on Xbox Live!

The Limited Collectors Edition comes in a very cool, two sided tin case. It also comes with a hardcover booklet that gives some information about the game. Also included is a bonus disc that provides many cool add-ons for your Xbox 360, such as themes, icons and much more. For $10 more, it is worth the money.

Only problem is packaging :(

This game is amazing. The only problem is, as most probably already know, the packaging. My copy came with both discs loose and they were pretty scratched, but they still played. However, the scratches severely messed with the campaign and made it choppy and unplayable. I got a new copy though that still had the disc in the holder, and all is good!! Awesome game!

Heads Up

Just a heads up. The packaging on this version of H3 sucks. I got mine and my disk was scratched but playable. The scratches were due to the disk getting dislodged in transport thanks to the device that was supposed to keep the disk in place. (it was one of those little black sponge things and not the usual hard plastic) I've heard this is a common problem so keep that in mind.

Halo 3 - Circa 2007

GOOD:
- Four-player online (or offline) co-op Gameplay allows two; three, or four players play through the game from start to end. A co-op player can come into the game at any time and leave at any time (note only one of you will play as the Master Chief, while another will play as the Arbiter, and the other two players will be Elites that work with humans)
- Great looking graphics and animation, that look even better then Halo 2, F.E.A.R. and just as good as Bioshock, while these graphics might not look as good as Gears of War do to some people these graphics still are some of the best seen to date.
- Intense multiplayer action online through Xbox Live with matches as small as one on one and as big as 16 players (and offline with out using Xbox Live using either spilt screen, or system link). Halo 3 is set up similar to Halo 2 in the sense that you're given a rank when you play multiplayer (this rank can go up or down at any time) this rank is representative of your skill and your matched with others of your skill type, that way new unskilled players and hardcore veterans will not often play against one another, unless they make a special match themselves that ignores rank.

BAD:
- Confusing plot to new players of this franchise - Playing Pervious games and read the Halo Novels will fill you in on the details, if you are incline to learn them.
- No Clan Support (like in Halo 2) - This might get fixed in a future patch
- Game is considered short to some (Campaign Story Mode).

IF IT FITS YOUR TASTE:
- A Sci-Fi First Person Shooter with quick pacing and vehicle combat.
- Co-op and online versus/team games is the big draw here.
- NEW MODE: Forge is a mode that lets you edit all the maps in Halo 3, while you cannot rebuild the maps themselves you can in this mode, add and take away any and all of the objects from vehicles and guns to spawning points and flag zones. This is all done in real time and you can invite friends to this mode while your customizing the map(s), they can play a multiplayer game while your doing this (instead of just waiting for you) and if you want you can forgo editing the map and join the game at hand as either a player or the map editor (who looks like 343 Guilty Spark), while playing as the map editor you can still add and take away any and all objects from vehicles and guns to spawning points and flag zones any time you want.
- NEW MODE: Theater Mode is a video editor that lets you record and play back any and all matches from Campaign, Multiplayer, and Forge modes from the point of view of any player either in first person or third person (even in a orbit-cam where the camera circles around the player) all in real time (you can also pause this at any time as well as fast forward and rewind), even use your camera to fly around the match and see the match from any angle you want, Don't forget you must save your videos before you turn off the game or you will lose said videos. Also you can take a picture at any time and save it to your Xbox 360 then download your picture at Bungie.net

GAME ITS MOST ASSOCATED TOO:
- Halo 2 (Xbox)
- Halo (Xbox)
- Resistance: Fall of Man (PS3)
- Bioshock (360)
- Gears of War (360)

ADDITIONAL NOTES:
- There are bonus items scattered through the Campaign Story Mode called Skulls getting these "Skulls" will make the game harder (by doing things like turning off radar for the rest of the Campaign Mode your playing it) but will also greatly increase your meta game score for the Campaign Mode.
- There are two different limited collectors editions of this game. One is called the limited edition, which comes in a metal tin and has a bonus disc (with behind the scene videos and such) and also comes with an art book. While the other limited edition (called Legendary edition) you will find an art book a mini poster two bonus DVDs (with behind the scene videos and such as well as a collection of all the cut scenes form Halo and Halo 2 and themes you can download to your 360) And the it comes with a plastic Master Chief Helmet to keep your DVDs in (Helmet as big a volley ball).
- At Bungie.net you can sign up and pay a small fee to upgrade your Halo 3 account (default is free) to hold more space on their serves for your videos/pictures/clips that you made.

Everything you want it to be!

What a terrific game! I just finished the campaign and have been playing online since the day I got it. It leaves little to be wanted, except maybe more. Multiplayer is fantastic on the XBOX Live. Literally hundreds of thousands of players online at any given time, quick pick up, and somehow it seems like the players are really just there to enjoy the game. Great board design (though I would still love to see Blood Gulch and Sidewinder recreated) that enables some outright slug-fests and nail biting finishes. The campaign takes everything you loved from Halo 1 like the environment, fun vehicle combat, creepy Flood, and the fun to fight Covenant, and combines it with the beauty and fluid control of Halo 2. Thankfully you don't have to play the Arbiter in Halo 3, which I felt drew too much away from the true story, Spartan 117 and the human conflict. Add in bubble shields, the flame thrower, two more grenade types, and heavy weapons you can rip from their mounts and carry around!? Freakin sweet!

If you liked the first two games, you pretty much have to play or buy this. The multiplayer or campaign alone make the game worth the price.

If you do buy the Limited Edition, the disks will likely be scratched, but not to the point where it will effect anything. I have had no effect on game play or the special features disk. Microsoft has a system in place to replace your scratched disks up into december of 07, so you could theoretically smoke the game and then ship it in for a fresh disk from a company that knows it did you wrong by going cheap on the packaging.

Finished the Fight

I have finished this fight. The ending wrapped up things nicely. Make sure you stick around after the credits. I did have one of the scratched versions, which I promptly returned and opened 3 more until I found one that the discs were secure in. I don't think that this multi-player was as good as Halo 2. It is not very intuitive, but I hope with some more time I can adjust.

Best Of The Three

Having Played all three Halos, I can tell you that this one is easy the best of them all. First lets start with the Graphics. When you start the first level you will simply be amazed at the overall look and high quality your seeing. As you progress you realize Bungie changed indoor corridor levels to more outdoor areas that really show the incredible scenery.
Now for the weapons, there are so many new additions its hard to list them all but you will have many defensive and offensive weapons such as the bubble shield , Hammer weapon and laser weapon to just name a few.
The new vehicles such as the Mongoose and chopper are simply amazing too while keeping the game balanced.
Gameplay overall is pretty much the same. Its halo but now it seems bungie focused more on cover making it more tactical and less of just an open fighting space.
The levels themselves are great with only a few areas of backtracking but you never really feel lost. The Cortana level might have you dissoriented but the goal completion is well worth the effort.
Overall this game is well worth the $70 as the bonus disk which is over 1 hour long has the makings of halo 3 and information on what actually goes into making a modern FPS Game. Simply amazing efforts were put into this and should be purchased by any halo fan.
On the MP Side its easy to say that this game might change the way people look at MP Games. For one reason only: the Theatre save mode. Every battle is recorded. Nothing new there ..replays are nothing new you say? but here you can pause and look at any angle , backup, use slow motion , pause again and take a photo of any part of the film from any angle or any players perspective from first or third person.
The next MP Game that you play you will wonder why they cant implement this one feature in every game... its that good.
Forge is another addition which lets you add , and place any obect where you want ,hence making your own custom maps. This would have been great if you could use matchmaking after you make a map , but you can only invite people on your friends list or From lan party TO JOIN Your custom maps. Overall its a great package with all the additions worthy of a great Third installment of a great trilogy.

waht else is there to say.....
