I'm not even going to waste your time or my time by talking about how fabulous this game is. If you haven't read the millions of reviews about this game, and haven't had the chance to play it...well you are missiong out! All I have to say, this might be one of the BEST! games ever created!

Boring and repetitive

Looks great but once you've seen the first level you've seen it all. Nothing but ducking and shooting with no real atmosphere despite what others say. Save your pennies and check out Rainbow Six Vegas or stick with GRAW.

this is absurd some magazine compare this game to to Halo engine not even close .very desapointed. the game played more like unreal and residen evil .and to finist checkpiont to checkpoint you have die 5 to 8 times even on easy setting. game is ok but not a halo killer. play on line is 2 minutes section.as soon your 4 team menber die start the new section. not good.

This game does one thing very well--it feeds the need for eye candy! Beyond that, there is nothing here that is new. The gameplay is very blocky and you spend most of the time tryinig to pry yourself off of walls that you "Jumped" into again and again.
The only thing that keeps this game from being very, very short--is all the time you spend trying to navigate the maze of walls and hurdles that you seem to cling to even when running straight.

The MP isnt too bad. But, just the standard MP at best. The maps are very small and there is maybe a total of 5 maps to play on. GOW could of been one of the greatest games ever if they had put more time in the gameplay and less on the graphics.

I was very disappointed after hearing months of "Emergence day is coming" propaganda. Well, it came and it was a very short day!

OH MY GOODNESS!!!

The Best Game I have ever played for any system. If you don't have this game then you have no idea what it means to play the Next Gen Games. A must buy for the 360 and an amazing reason to buy the XBOX 360 Console!

Okay...but nothing special

This game was WAY over hyped and sadly didn't live up to it. The story was alot of fun, but beatable in 3 good hours. Online play is relitivly fun but you cant play online with a gust unless he also has a sperate x-box live account.

Overhyped.

I bought this game on a whim to see what the hoopla was about. And I'm afraid I was disappointed greatly. The graphics is pretty damn good, but the controls are too sticky for my taste. Additionally, Epic stole the cover system from Midway yet touted as their own seemingly. The single-player is extremely short, lasting for approximately 10 hours. Overall, this game is not worth it at full retail. Don't buy the hype.

More fun for hardcore gamers

As mentioned in my other GOW review, I prefer the first-person HUD perspective rather than over-the-shoulder. I did not like GOW as much as the Halo series.

Fluid & Beautiful

As a gamer dating back to the Atari 2600, I can honestly say that Gears of War is the best looking and most fluid game I have played so far. The graphics are absolutely breathtaking right down to the rain falling on your forehead as you blast away exploding gremlin-like dogs. The collector's edition is worth the extra money to get a behind-the-scenes look on the making of the game including a wonderful full color hardcover booklet with the storyline and shot's from the game. I am truly impressed, Microsoft. For those who have access to Xbox Live, this game simply shines. We can only hope for a sequel.

A Great Game

This game has to be one of the greatest games ever made. The graphics in this game are the best I have ever seen. The AI is smart and the game is actually challenging. It is now so hard that you won't ever want to play it but it is hard enough to make you want to play it more and more. The controles are easy once you get used to them. I have only found two things that are wrong with this game and that is that the campaign is a little short. Don't get me wrong its fun but it is short compared to other things. And the other thing is that there is no back story to the game. Once you start it you are in the action. Overall this is the best game that I have played up to date. I would only recomend this if you are a mature gamer because this game has a lot of language in it. This is a great game and the collectors edition is worth the money.
