This game is amazing, breathtaking, and gory. Everything you wanted it to be. I've been playing this since Christmas '06. The graphics are great, the gameplay is amazing, and the characters and weapons are superb. And the bonus dvd is fun. Definatly get this.

the game was great, action packed, but did'nt get to finish the game but overall from single player, to co-op, to multiplayer online, tere is non stop action that is addicting to play. pick this game up if you're a gamer and collector, or if you're just a gamer, pick up the regular version of gears of war.

A 360 starter game

An addicts fix. This game is HOT as it gets. I haven't played mine in quite some time, but it's highly enjoyable the way I see it. I think that it has high replay value as long as you are doing co-op missions. The multiplayer free for all is always mixed, because you might have some idiot on your team who's trying to cut you just to build his rep up without thinking that it's hurting the team. BEST GAME of '06 though HANDS DOWN...g4TV called it 100% legit if you ask me.

THIS IS THE ONE GAME THAT WILL BREAK A GAMER WHO LIKES ONE STYLE OF GAMING OUT OF THAT GAME...TRUST.

Gears of War Collectors Edition

This is an amazing game. I own the Collector's Edition, and the book that comes with it speaks a lot about the creator's of the games desire to have a breathtaking game. The visuals in this game are the best that I have seen so far on the Xbox 360. The game play is also some of the best that I have seen. It compares to nothing I have played so far, with the perfect execution of cover, and peaking out to shoot at your enemy. For those who are into more run and gun style games, this may not be for you, as it is heavily based on taking tactful cover to survive. Running and gunning will likely leave you frustrated, as you will continually die. Although the commentary isn't the greatest between the members of you're team, the story is very interesting, and leaves you wanting more in the end. Not to mention that Dom the lead character's right hand seems to try and find ways to kill himself. The online play for this game is also very good, and you will have no problem finding a game. If you're into Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, or games that are known for great online play you may feel something is missing from the online play however. As although the online component is fun it does seem a little last minute. However, if you are interested in this game don't hesitate to buy it, as it will not disappoint you in anyway. A great example of how games can look on the 360, and a flawless game that is as must have as Halo 3.

The appeal of the case for the game is nice, but it's also a cumbersome peace of junk at the same time. I would have liked to see this come with a case for the game and a collectors tin for safe keeping of the games extras, to bad they don't do that with the collectors editions. There really isn't all that much more to it than the plain Jane game, just a few extra papers and such, nothing all the special really.

I found the game a bit choppy in areas although it's a great game it could have been worked on a little more before release. The multiplayer online part never seems to work so that I can actually play with my friend that only lives a few miles away from me (this is very annoying!). I can play with just about anyone else on my friends list that has the game but I can't seem to be able to get him to join my game no matter what. Has been going on for the last few months and after many emails and such to both Xbox live and the maker of the game there has been no solution.

This game is a blast to play but it could use a little work as well.

I know nobody want's to hear this...

Gears of War offers some of the best gameplay shooters have to offer and outclasses almost every shooter on the market(Except Bioshock). The gameplay is well-executed and Epic Games deserves a lot of props for this amazing game and how well is succeeds at nearly everything. The graphics are stunning and look very realistic, even during real-time. The gameplay is absolutely fantastic, the character designs are excellent, the creatures are really creepy, the environments look great, the missions are set up very well, the weapons are awesome, and it's a very challenging game. There are some issues however that I can't help but pick at. First off is the story, it's basically the same save the world from alien destruction story. Second, AI problems regarding teammates because they can get in the way of a dangerous enemy and get killed, causing you to fail your mission. And third, control issues regarding the the grenades you swing around and throw. These problems while noticeable(Especially when you're angry because your teammate died), don't do much to hamper your experience with one of the best shooters to date.

Good game, just not as good as its cracked up to be.

Lets get the obvious out of the way, yes the game is overrated. With all of the hype and hope that went into this game, and with the responsibility of the beginning life of the 360 resting on its shoulders its going to be overrated. Ok, now for some actual reviewing. The graphics are gorgeous, although they did use some cheap tricks like pre-rendered backgrounds and only using three colors to make it look better than it really should, but it still gives the effect of looking good, which is all that really matters. The sound for the guns and explosions was good. For the life of me I can't even remember the music, which can't really be saying a good thing about it now can it? The storyline is kind of a ripoff of the two biggest shooters of our time. It is essentially Killzone meets Halo, but in all honesty its a shooter, story is nice to have, but is not a necessity. Plus these days, it is nearly impossible to come up with an idea that hasn't already been used. The action is pretty fun and the cover system works very well. There are some good deteriorating effects on the cover as well. The multi player is interesting at first, but gets boring fast. All in all I liked this game. If you want a solid, well put together shooter with nice graphics and a fun campaign, then I recommend you at least try it if you have a Xbox 360 or a good PC.
