The colors are lush and appropriate to each scene, the graphics magnificent, the music so dead-on, and the effects and gameplay fantastic. The only downside is the long loading times and the sometimes difficult camera angles, although both can be forgiven since the amount of graphic detail could well account for the former and camera angles have always been a bit of a bugger in 3D games. Great use of the contoller vibrator as the Whomping Willow slams it's roots about.
I bought my Playstation 2 on the strength of this game and GTA: Vice City and I have not been disappointed. As much as I love the guilty pleasures of the violent 'Vice', I love ending my day with 'Chambers'. It's like an interactive novel. I am amazed at the amount of gameplay so far and I haven't even gotten into Hogwarts yet.
I love this game and I think anybody who has just a passing knowledge of the Potter world will feel the same. Well worth [it].

Wonderful, but could be better.

This is one of the best games I've ever played, but it could have been better...a lot better. For one thing, it's way too short. One year is 6 days. Another thing, the classes, well...aren't exactly classes. Their some stupid dungeon and you have to find a stupid spellbook. Plus you only get to take 3 classes (if you're not including quidditch and flying). And another thing, you don't get to go inside Hagrids Hut! I was so excited to be able to go inside since the graphics were so good, but there is no point of going over there. Also, when you're flying around the castle you can't get off where you want to. And plus, when you're outside you barely get to walk anywhere. Say you need to go to the herbology greenhouse (which by the way you don't get to take herbology)you walk toward the greenhouse then all of a sudden your there. I think you should walk all the way there instead of it taking you there after a few steps. And one more thing...what's with the locked doors? And the Alohomora spell does NOTHING! I want to be able to at least ENTER a door! I want this to be more like Harry's school year at Hogwarts, not exactly the theme of a video game. When the Prisonor of Azkaban comes out I expect the following changes:

1. Make it a school year, not 6 days!
2. Classes should be classes, not irritating dungeon quests!
3. More classes to take!
4. Two words: Hagrid's Hut!
5. If you're flying around the castle you should be able to get off where you want to. (except over water :p)
6. Walk the full length to classes outside.
7. Unlocked doors, or at least an Alohomora spell that WORKS!
8. Make it more like a school year not, a game.

If the Prisoner of Azkaban has those changes I will spend money on it, if not I won't spend a penny.

Harry Potter for GameCube is superb!

I have played the first game, HP&SS on the computer, but I can say, the graphics and the game play cannot even match to this one.
I love flying around Hogwarts! It's really need when you skim the water in the large lake, you can see a trail of water behind you. I also like it how there are minigames you can play when you have nothing to do, and wanting to earn some extra wizard cards.
There is some slight problems. Even though the game was made E for Everyone, and the game play was fairly easy. I would say, there are some problems durring the movie scenes. When Ron, Harry and Hermionie are talking durring some scenes, there bodies rotate, move, or flicker. I found it to be some kind of anyoing glitch, and it happens in my other 3 friends games as well.
Overall, besides the point of it being easy, and the glitch, I gave it a nice 4, because I think Game Cube made a wonderful HP game.

When most older people hear the words "HARRY POTTER" they think of children. That's also what I thought to when i first heard of it. The whole story had the word kid written all over it. But then I sat down and read it, and now to me it has a whole new meaning. Now, being a fan, when I heard there was a game coming to gamecube I was so excited, but still I had played a Harry Potter game the year before on playstation and it wasn't that great. Well, I read a preview for it in a magizine and my thoughts changed yet again. The creators added a new spice to it that makes it look absolutely amazing! The pictures and graphics were slick, and the storyline, following the book's, was great. I can't wait till this game comes out in time for the movie. I would say you are nuts if you are not interseted in this game!

One of my favorite games.

Harry Potter and the Chamber Of Secrets is a fun, challenging, kind of creepy game. Now, what I mean by creepy, is once you get to hogwarts, and have to save someone from tapestry, when you go down the steps in the Great Stairway (something like that) there is this voice that saids, "Come...come here...let me tear you...let me rip you..." and etc.

But, that's not the point.

Creatures: annoying (especially the Gnomes) but you have to destroy them with your spell (Flipendo most common) and get use to them. Their everywhere!

Characters/Voice: the voice sound so real! And the ghost voices are really spooky and sound so real...like I said.

Graphics: Absouletly incredible! Harry and Ron look exactly as in the movies. Not so sure about Hermoine...

The only thing that bothers me is sometimes yes...the frustration. The challenges can be difficult, so you better have a strong self confidence that you can do things. These challenges can be tough.

I recommeded that if you child/you likes Harry Potter, play this game. And, I suggest that no one that has a high level of frustration..don't buy this game.

I am 16 this is my sisters game but I played figuring that it would be a fun, quick game to play. I was wrong. I could barely get past some of the areas. My 9 year old little sister is stuck on the second night. The challenge of this game does not match its content rating. But it is still a good game just don't approach it as a game for kids.

Fun for all Ages

Recently I was forced to rent this game from blockbuster for a cousin of mine who is fascinated by the Harry Potter world. I was dragging my feet to the check out counter thinking that I would have rather played some other game but when I got home and saw my cousin having fun with the game I decided to take a shot. Superb graphics and linear yet non-linear game play makes this game fun for everyone especially with the detail that the game programmers used to bring aspects of the books to electronic life. The puzzles are challenging, but not so hard that they are frustrating and the replay value is very good.

he will be in mortal danger"

Yes, the quote that stop everyone's hearts for a few seconds. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is a great game, usually, games that are based off other medias such as Books or Movies aren't really much enjoyable or acceptable but Harry Potter is an exception. The Game starts off "after" Harry arrives at the Weasley's where you learn a trick or two, then you shop at Diagon Alley, and then after that you begin your quest to Horwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. As you go through your quest, you will be given the chance to collect various Wizard Cards, which has quite an interesting amount of information but it will not affect gameplay much unless you want to trade with the other students at the school. Wizard Cards for Hogwarts are as big as Pokemon Cards were awhile ago for us.

Ron Weasley, Hermoine Granger, Fred and George Weasley, Draco Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle, Professor McGonnal, Professor Snape, Headmaster Albus Dumbledore and all the other characters of the Harry Potter and Chamber of Secrets book all in the game! Have fun duels with the Slytherins, there's many ways to defeat a wizard at a duel, have fun learning the various ways. You will also eventually run into cursed merchandise, and will have to duel them too, for example BookCases and Washing Machines! Quite fun as well. Throwing Ghomes (A Disgusting, Goofy Creature) across the field is awesomely fun.

and....

who could forget the great, the spectaculiar, fast-paced and thrilling game of...

Quidditch! Yes, Quidditch is here and it is amazing. First go through Quidditch training and then enter the great adventures of actual Quidditch Matches, play as Harry Potter, the seeker for the Griffyndor team as your job is to capture the tiny gold ball with wings, the snitch. Yes, have fun as this part is difficult and fun! The Game Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets has done a magnificent conversation from the Book Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. I am well awaiting both Harry Potter Book 6, and the Game Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban!

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!!

I am a big fan of the Harry Potter movies and books, but this game is terrible. The camera angles are horrible, the fighting is awful, and the Harry Potter storyline is comepletly butchered in a bad way. Dobby isn't even in the game, he had a big part in the book. If you are looking for a good adventure game pick up Zelda, Starfox Adventures or Metroid Prime. This game is not even worth the six dollars to rent. EA games should think about what to change when they make The Prisoner of Azkaban game,

ITS THE EASIEST GAME I'VE EVER PLAYED

Its fun if you like harry potter, but if you dont like it you won't like the game. i asked for it...and i'm glad i didnt get it because i beat it in 3 days. it has very good graphics but the camera angles are bad, like when your facing the basilisk when he shoots the poison at you you have to run but when you run your angle moves and you cant see him so you have to move the c stick. i'm still going to buy it though.

P.S: you don't need the alohomora speel because there is only a couple chests that you can open and fred and george weasley rips you off!!!!!!!!
