one word sums up this game: meh.
it's really hard and you can never save when you need to. In conclusion, rent it, and see how you like it.

Do not buy this game.

This game is horrible, it was poorly and quickly made to reach shevles at the same time as the movie. The controls on the game are difficult, and the game is repetitive, and involves mainly running back and forth, up and down the castle. My friends little brother who is seven beat the entire game in three days and never touched it since. As a Harry Potter fan I would suggest not owning this game.

its ok...

this is the first harry potter game i have gotten, and i will say it is not that bad. i played it at a friends house and found it to be very addicting in the beginning so i decided to buy it myself. the game is pretty easy once you know how to do it.

The things i didnt like here was that the camera jumps around so much, and so you can't really see where you are going sometimes and that really annoys you. Also, i found it pretty impossible to find out what to do next cause they dont really tell you so i wouldnt recommend it for younger children. you need to explore around ALOT on your own to know what to do next.

but after that, it is easy to beat the game.

Another thing was that the prefects and other people are so hard to get by, i tried about 500 times to get by them at one point in time, and they always catched me. it got me frustrated but it was all part of the game.

so that is really it, i feel stupid after finding out how to do something after ive spent half an hour on where to go and what to do but maybe thats just me. it was challenging for me that way.
one thing i suggest is you search for harry potter video game cheats and hints, and that will help you out on what to do if you are really stuck.
but very nice color and beautiful images
hope this helped.

A Fun Game With Flaws

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is a really neat game. It really brings the books alive in a way that the films can't. However, this game strays away from a few things that I like in games.
For one, most of the games/plot elements are made up and were never in the books nor films. And the plot never develops. For example, I can remember a part in the game where every time you walked down the Grand Staircase, Nearly Headless Nick would stop you to talk about nothing for a few minutes. Then you never saw him again. Plus, it seems like the writers thought-up the same plot point for every challenge Harry goes through: you're always looking for a book or something else that someone told you to get.
Another downfall is that there were many possibilities for more in-depth challenges, like flying the car: you never get to, all you had to do was save Ron from the Whomping Willow.
The biggest let-down, however, is that there are hardly any Save Points. I remember trying to receive the book Hogwarts: A History, in one part of the game. For one thing, this 'level' was to hard: you had to go through almost twenty rooms to get the book, and then you had to find your way back. And for two, there were no Save Points in this 'level.' None. So I was forced to play for nearly 2.5 hours before I could save, when I had other things I could've been doing.
In short, this game is great in graphics, sound, and play-ability but it lacks in a decent plot. If I hadn't read the book and seen the movie, I would've never known what was going on.
Harry Potter: Good, Bad, and Ugly. 5/10 or 50%

The game is cool when you get to go to classes and do Quidditch, but it is a very easy and quick game. I beat it in 2 days. If only when you beat the game you get to still got to classes and get grades. Then I would of given it a better rating.

Fun yet Ok....

I have played this game before. I thought it was great in the beginning until I got to Diagon Alley. What I mean is this DOES NOT follow the book or movie. If you are thinking you are going to play like in the book you are totally wrong. For example: You don't get on the train by talking to Lockhart instead of not being able to get threw the barrier. It's a fun game, just it doesn't follow the book.

This was the first game i purchased for the Gamecube and if they're all this quick and easy to finish then i'm thouroughly disappointed. The graphics are nice, but clearly the game is challenging only for a young child. Please rent and do not buy this game. You can finish it in one full day.

Just when it should be starting, it ends.

This game is OK. The graphics, controls, sounds, and challenge, are middle of the road; not great, but not terrible.

The problem is it's too short. Just when the game feels like it should be starting, BOOM, final boss fight, end credits.

Oh, and the final boss fight is confusing, and doesn't fit with the movie or the book.

this is a relatively fun game however it does have a few drawbacks such as the fact that you hardly learn any spells. i was nearly halfway through the game and had only learned 5 spells. another portion of this game that is extremely frustrating is attempting to sneak past prefects because it is almost impossible to be able to do in less then 8 or 9 times. my advice to potential buyers is to without a doubt rent this game first.
