Engrossing and engaging video game

Let me start by saying that this was one of the best games that I have ever played. I was hooked from the opening movie, and even showed it to one of my friends who was impressed by the detail in that movie. The first time I watched the opening movie, I thought to myself, how can the game possibly live up to the expectations I was having after having seen that? Well, the game does stand up to it, with wonderfully rendered characters who almost seem perfectly life like, and an immersive game play that took a good long time to finish.

This game contains some of the best voice overs I have ever heard in a game, with most all of the voices matching the characteristics of the people. The only one I really had a complaint about would have been the voice for the character of Steve, which was annoying from the beginning, and although it did grow on my a bit throughout the game, just didn't seem quite right. But that's a small complaint, and one of the few small things I didn't like about the game.

The weapon diversity was nice, including the new bow gun powder you could add to the bow gun bolts for an explosive effect. They could have been a little less frugal with the ammunition also, but they always seem to make you make every bullet count to get through these types of games. One thing that was nice was the fact that the knife was actually a somewhat decent weapon this time around. Generally, the first thing I do once I come across one of the storage chests in a Resident Evil game is ditch the knife, and never take it out again. This time, I carried it around for a good part of the game, because it was an effective weapon against zombies, particularly when you could get one off by himself. Two slashes at his legs would put him down, and I could usually slash him to death on the ground before he could get up. That really helped on conserving hand gun ammuntion, and was a definite plus.

The bonus game you unlocked after beating the game was fun too. It's a battle game where you are given certain weapons, and health items and take one of the characters from the game through several rooms on a mission to kill all the baddies, and finally kill one of the big bosses from the game. Claire and Chris are standards, and depending on whether you did something during the course of the game you can unlock Steve, and then Wesker, plus an alternate Claire and Chris. This game itself is fun, though very difficult with Wesker, who only gets to carry a knife.

Beating the game in under three and a half hours with no saves, and no using of health sprays will net you an infinite rocket launcher in your chest the next time you play the game. This was a hard feat to manage, but by around my sixth time through the game, I finally did it. It gave me almost a good a feeling as the first time I beat the game for the first time. So, I hope you have half as much fun playing it as I did, I think you'll enjoy it.

One final quibble about the game. Why does Capcom find it necessary to limit your inventory in such a fashion? Why does a card or a key take up as much room as a wespon, a fire extinguisher, or any of the other big items you find and have to carry in this game? That's just a personal complaint, and one I've never been able to figure out in all of the Resident Evil games I have played. I would have thought enough people would have complained about having to juggle your inventory in such an inane fashion that they would have changed this by now. Maybe next time.

Ahhh Veronica, how I love your ways...

This is the Resident Evil game that all people have been waiting for, even if they don't realize it yet. It was so good that it refused to die with the failing Dreamcast and dove across to the Play Station 2 ( I hear the graphics aren't as good on PS2). It is the ultimate survival horror game.
What make Veronica so great? The graphics are no small part. Sure, I reveled like the rest of us in the exploding zombie heads of RE 2 and 3 but I loved the brain splatter of Veronica. The Tyrant from RE 2, with his blank stare and overcoat never conveyed the sheer life of a bendersnatch as he trapezed across the room and crushed your head, all the while looking at you with those oh so human eyes.
What else you ask, makes this game THE RE? Well, the story is superbly done and Alexia is the most...AWESOME bad guy(errr...Girl) that has ever graced the screen. And all your old favorites are back too so expect to see some old friends and new enemies as you crawl and run around.
Oh and there is more! Guns have always been great in the Resident Evil games but these guns are crisp. By that I mean they may not be awe-imspiring like the electroshocker from 2 or as satisfying as the enhanced shotgun rounds from 3 but they will do the job exactly like you would expect. The twin uzi's will stop a zombie in its tracks but the spiders will laugh as they pump poison into you. But you can show them who is boss with a blast from the grenade launcher, now better built to kill groups. Across the board the guns will satisfy.
And there is just so much else that I cannot write it all. But needless to say, if you own a DC or PS2 this is a good purchase at any price. Get it, buy it, steal it, love it. Come be a zombie killer with the rest of us.

Quite frankly, if you're reading this review, you're wasting valuable playing time. But since you're here, this is what I thought of the game: This is the best RE ever. Graphics, sound, voice acting and load times are all improved remarkebly! I don't see how this game could dissapoint anyone except for those who are looking for excuses to be dissapointed. O.k., yes the animated gore is less and the controls are a little reversed from the playstation crontroller, and yes you still have to press the action button to go up the stairs, but... these are SMALL gripes. RE:CV is amazing and you won't regret shelling out the cash to get it! So why are you still reading this? Go buy it!

Best game ever

Im a sceptic when it comes to adventure games, i didnt much like RE, i like RE 2 but thought there were many areas where imporvement could have been, and after playing the extremely hard RE 3 at a friends house i didnt buy it for my PS. One look at the beauty of the masterpiece RE: Code Veronica, i went out and bought it (just for the graphics). After playing 10 minutes i thought the most impressive, graphically and story wise, game for the DC. Even if you dont like the other Resident Evils, this one is one to get. If you have just bought a Dreamcast and can get only one game, this is the one to get. Spotting great graphics, great story, and the name Capcom on it, its sure to provide hours of entertainment and replayability, stop reading reviews and BUY THIS GAME NOW!

The Best Resident Evil yet! Much scarier than before, and little bit easilier than the previous ones. I will still need gameshark to finish the last stage of disc 1.

Super Sweet!

When i first popped this game into my DC, i was amazed by the Quality and realistic look of the CG cinemas! When i got to the gameplay however i was a little disappointed at first. The controls take a bit of getting used to. Now i am quite comfortable w/ the controls. Thank to the DC's power, RECV's graphics look sweet! Finally we are free from pixelated character models and Zombies! There are a few new enemies that come into play w/RECV that are wicked freaky, but i wont spoil it. The in-game music is as freaky as ever. The ambience in the game really adds to the spook effect.

I can't believe some of those people who think that this game is not scary as RE2 or others! This game is wicked scary. I sometimes get so scared where i can't go on any further.{Yes its that scary [fer me anyways] }. Try playing this game 11pm at night w/ all the lights off and your stereo headphones on w/ the stereo volume cranked up half-way! I can't.

You have gotta get this game. If you love survival horror this game has scares by the bagfull!
