first of i wnat to say this gavme is a very bad, i find it very disturbing to shot the mummies in the head, also it should have a cyclops. it is k3wl when you kill the giant spidars too, cause i beat it already but if you are in a queer mood and are looking for some "fun" you could do a little better than this game. maybe get residant evil 2, it has vary good graphcics , bettar than theis one i think, much more realaistic, but that is persoantal prfeffrence. if you are instersted in more of my reviews eamail me and maybe i will set up a reveiew sitezor! (dont be a hacker be a cracker jacker)

I cannot begin to express my disappointment with RE:CV. I bought a Dreamcast specifically for this title, and when I began to play it my stomach sunk. First off ALL THE GORE IS GONE, when I first heard this I thought it wouldn't make a difference, but all in all it totally ruins the "Horror" theme of the game. Lets hope their is a code to open it up. The voice acting is still lame, but the story is pretty good, definately better than RE3. The graphics are stunning, the intro is borderline breathe taking. Unfortuantely a lot of fog has found it's way into the Resident Evil universe due to this upgrade. I'd have to say rent this first and see if you enjoy it. I can see hardcore finds loving it.

Incredible graphics, poor controls = frustration.

I was completely amazed by the intro to this game. The fluid motion of the characters in the cut scenes gives us a hint of what kinds of things we'll be able to see in feature films in the near future.

This game has one serious flaw, which is very disappointing and frustrating. The controls are way over sensitive and finicky. Part of the problem may be that I'm not used to the RE paradigm for controlling the third-person character, but the basic model here is inferior to games like Diablo or Darkstone.

What's really bad is the combat action. To fight some enemies you have to crouch or reach up and slash with the knife. If you do, the character goes into a bizarre slow rotatation, even if you hold the digital pad precisely straight down! The net result is that you either end up fighting the wall while zombie dogs chomp you to death, or rip the skin off your finger rocking back and forth to defeat the motion. It's completely inexplicable.

Aside from that, there is the problem of combat-stance to maneuvering transitions. To fight, you assume a combat stance. If you want to backup, or run, or reposition for better combat advantage, you must exit combat stance and then run/whatever. This transition is so slow and clunky that you usually get your throat chomped before you can do anything. Many video games have the characteristic that the characters perform super-human jumps and moves routinely... it's silly, but fun. In this game, the characters move like clumsy robots that can't even perform a simple action like jumping back a step!

I'd have given this game one star, but the graphics are so great that I'm hoping I can overcome the poor controls.

I'd strongly recommend you rent this game before buying it!

Corny...!

Now before I start talking about how bad this game is, I would first like to state out the few positive things about this game. .The graphics in this game are truly stunning, and it certainly creates a truly scary atmosphere, but, unfortunately, that's about it on the positive side. This game is an absolute mess. The controls are horrible, and the puzzles make this game a tad too difficult without a stategy guide. Now for what I really wrote this review about, the game's story. It's like a jolly awful b-movie. The voice acting is atrocious, and the story is about as believable as Pat Buchanen becoming president (brrrr!). Believe me, it is extremely corny! The people who made this game could have done alot than this! Rent the game if you wish, but please don't buy it! When it's all said and done it's a complete waste of time, and a rip-off!

Worst Control Ever

I will agree that this game has probably the best graphics I've ever seen, but that can't make up for the control you have. It is almost impossible at times to fight anyone or anything and you usually just end up dead or dying. I guess I was spoiled from playing Shadow Man which is the best Sega Dreamcast game to date. The only reason this gets two stars is because of the graphics...because game control sucks monkeys. I read all the reviews on this game and I was totally psyched to get it in the mail but then was quickly disappointed. Don't waste your money.

Looks good, but...

I am about halfway through this game and so far I am disappointed. As others have stated, the graphics are really good. However, this doesn't hold your interest for long. Let me discuss some of the problems I have with the game. First, fighting with the knife is generally useless against tougher zombies, so you just rely on your firepower, which take little to no skill to use, and consequently the only actual action is extremely short and rare. Because of this, I havn't really gotten exited about the weapons at all, or finding new ones. Second, the puzzles are so inane that they are almost insulting. Everything is 100% SPOONFED to you, as if you couldn't handle anything more complex (seriously, putting the password to the computer on a sheet of paper laying next to it? ) It basically seems that the game has you doing these things just to keep you busy. I havn't looked at the maps more than once. Finally, the voice acting is pretty awful (why is this part so hard for so many games? ), it definitely beats say, blue stinger, but it is still pretty bad. I thought it was stupid that they tried to make Claire look like another TNA Lara Croft... Overall, I would recommend you rent this first. I am only trying to win it now because I have handed over 55 bucks for it.

The only thing "horrific" is the play control

If you like the original Resident Evil you will probably like this one for the most part. However, I liked the original Resident Evil, but found: Code Veronica extremely annoying.

The annoying part has nothing to do with the game itself. The puzzles are a bit bothersome at times, but nothing to complain about. The graphics aren't bad and the story line works pretty well.

The BIG problem I have with the game is the play control. The editorial comment says "less than perfect controls", well that is an understatement. You have to hold down the right trigger to use your weapons, this makes firing while running and firing while retreating overly complex. Moreover, you have to go into the menu screen every time you want to pick up or use an item. There just had to be a better way.

Most of the time I would say that the play control only diminishes the fun of the game, but doesn't ruin it. However, in this instance it does. The control sucks the fun out of the game just as the zombies do the blood out of your neck, while you are fumbling around with the controller. The game isn't very difficult, but the play control makes the game more work then it is worth.

Code Veronica is a frustrating and boring game

Now I know most of you probably disagree with me but seriously, how in the hell can you enjoy a game that is filled with constant backtracking and frustrating/confusing puzzles?!

Out of all the RE's, Veronica definently has the most frustrating and confusing gameplay, which leads to boring gameplay. Now don't get we wrong, the game does have its share of cool surprises, movies, and scenes but it still falls flat on its face.

But if theres one thing Veronica does great, its the graphics. Hands down, this is the best looking RE game out there. The characters look realistic and the zombies are very detailed... enough to think they are real at times.

Veronica also has good sound. The "music" sets the "scary mood" of the game and the sound effects are pretty good as well. But the character voice overs, like always, are absolutely pathetic. It has improved a little bit, but its still ....

The controls aren't that hard to get used to to. But the problem is that Veronica doesn't have the dodge ability! The only thing you got is the 180 degree turn. I have no idea why it was takin out.

Now for more complaining...

Veronica simply isn't scary. It can be at times, but usually it just feels "same ol same ol". The game system is still the same as well, so you should be pretty familiar with it. But sometimes it's just a little too familiar. I wish Capcom could have done something new for a change. My last complaint is the lack of ammo, healing items, and weopons. Throughout the game, you will occasionaly find yourself stuck in bad situations with no ammo or healing items. Sometimes you will even be stuck at bosses with no ammo, or the right weopon. And on top of that, the game only allows you to empty your inventory at the item boxes, and there aren't that many. You can't drop an item or anything.

Okay, so overall I pretty much... hated this game. It's simply not as good as the other RE's. The frustrating puzzles, endless backtracking, lack of items, ammo, and weopons, bad voice acting, familiar gameplay, and same game system make this game one hell of a ... experience... If you are like a hardcore fan of the RE series then I guess you should buy it, but others should stay far, far, far away. Or at least rent it first if you don't believe me.

A little too difficult for its own good..

The Resident Evil series has been on a steady decline since the first game came out in the mid-90's. It seems that they make these games harder and harder than they should be and Code Veronica is no exception. It's not the simplistic puzzles that make the game difficult, rather, it's the lack of ammo and healing items that make what what should be easy battles far more difficult than they should be.

Why do some zombies take more bullets than others? Why do zombies respawn in some areas? What's up with all the backtracking in this game? You're still forced to use the stupid typewriter ribbons to SAVE? These are some of the questions you'll ask yourself when you play the Code Veronica. Has the series evolved? If you get past the improved graphics, the answer is NO. The control is just as sloppy as it was in RE1, albeit with a quick turnaround feature and a new two-handed gun mode (you burn through bullets faster this way). A great deal of prior planning and trial and error is required, which may have been good back when the series was young, but it has simply gotten to be tedious today.

Even the soundtrack is pretty forgettable! The game has a rather cartoonish look to it...could have looked more realistic but then again, the Dreamcast isn't exactly a graphics powerhouse. My suggestion...don't buy it. Granted, I've owned this game for quite some time and those who are new to DC may have heard great things about CV, but trust me, this is a BORING game! Get Shenmue instead as that game simply plays better and has a better story!
