THPS Flys High Again

If you have read a review on the original Playstation version, u have nearly heard the whole story about this one. Tony Hawk Pro Skater for the Dreamcast is another excellent creation from those wizards at Neversoft (who are also bringing us the new Spiderman game for the Playstation.) The greatest thing about THPS is that you never feel limited as to what you could do in any given situation. You are always lookin to stretch that combo out another 2 or 3, and can always see the means necessary to do it. But the two things that will separate this game from its predecessor is that you may now create your own skate parks and save them to VMU, so your friends can play at your park. Think of it, every skaters dream (except for maybe the 900, which Tony Hawk is the only known skater to have actually pulled that off) has been to make your own ramps, halfpipes, etc. the way you want it, without restrictions like money and the like. The graphics are what also obviously sets it apart from the original as well. While the PS version had good graphics, the DC version produces visualss 4 times as good as the PS version. Plus you can now use the analog controller to steer your skater instead of the directional pads, which tend to wreck the hell out of my thumbs. But the old gameplay and replayability remain as was suit in the first one. DC owners will love this game, even if they have played it on the Playstation.

Fun for everyone!

Cool skateboarding, cool music, cool parks... what more could you ask for in a video game? Well, maybe a little more depth, but any more fun and this game would explode! I have never skated a day before in my life. In fact, I was never really even a fan of the sport of skateboarding... until I played this game. Not only does this game get you hooked on mastering the clever kick tricks and performing those astronomical airs, but it gets you hooked on the sport of skateboarding itself. I've actually started watching various skateboarding competitions... and enjoying them! In the game I found myself enjoying going back and forth and back and forth and back and forth... and back and forth :) on those ramps. I found myself so engulfed in learning new ways to contort my character and spin him until I am dizzy, that I would, a week later, that I have still 95% of the game left that I haven't even touched. The basic gist of the game is trying to collect video tapes, which act as passports to new levels. The more tapes you get, the farther you'll get in the game. Sounds pretty simple right? Well, not exactly! Each level is filled with challenges that will have you throwing your controller through the t.v. until you figure them out. But once you figure them out, you'll be jumping with glee! You have a variety of characters to choose from and a variety of boards too, although this is mainly for looks. The only disappointing part of the game was playing it so much that you grow slightly bored of all the tricks, and you crave new characters, new boards, new levels, and new challenges. Another turn-off might be the language in the music, or the music itself depending on your tastes, but if language doesn't bother you, and you are at least tolerant of alternative metal-punk-ska music then you shouldn't have any problem with this game. So bottom line: if you haven't bought this game, BUY IT! Even if you're not a fan of skateboarding, it's a must have for the Playstation, the Dreamcast, or the 64! Whatever your fancy is. My preference is the Dreamcast, because of the slightly improved graphics. I would give this game a 4.5, but it's more towards the 5 end and there is no 4.5! ©Josh Mondayle 2000

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater(for N64) is soooooo SWEET! I just recently rented it for Nintendo 64 and I played it all weekend with my little brother. The graphics are excellent, the music is fitting, and the tricks and moves that the skaters can do are UNREAL! This game definetely deserves a 5 rating!

Great game, something original!

Forget all those typical fighting, role playing and sports games. Tony Hawk is something new and original! With hundreds of moves to learn, it's a new challange. The graphics are excellent, the game is fast paced and the music (with bands such as Primus) is great. Being an old school skater (such as Rob Roskopp, Steve Caballero, Jeff Kendall and others) the only skater I was failiar with was Tony Hawk. The Playstation edition came out long before the Dreamcast version, and I kept saying to myself, "Why waste my money on a Playstation copy when I know the Dreamcast one will be far superior?". Let me tell you something, it was worth the wait! This game won't end up on the floor or some game place, that's for sure!

The best skater ever made

Tony Hawk on Dreamcast hasn't changed anything from the playstation version except for better graphics but thats great.Tony Hawk has some of the best graphics I've ever seen and the gameplay keeps you playing. But if you have the playstation version of Tony Hawk you basically have this version.Still after playing this game one time you instantly get addicted and you won't stop playing till you beat all the levels.Tony Hawk offers many different modes and if you have a friend over play horse its amazingly fun.The best thing about this game is the value Tony Hawk never stops being fun even after playing it over and over .Don't buy any of the other imitators of Tony Hawk get this game now ,it's worth your money

Tony hawk pro skater is honestly one of the best, if not the best game i have ever played for any system. Although i have only played it at a friends house on his psx, i found myself going over whenever i had even 10 minutes just to play it. Im going to buy it the first day it comes out for DC, and im sure it'll be amazing for Dremcast. RECOMMENDED FOR ANY DC OWNER, this game is a blast to play and it never gets boring. i've beaten the game a few times(it's a time consuming process) and i still want to play it again and again. I almost went out and bought a playstation just for this game, but now it'll be on dreamcast.

This game is awesome!

If you thought that Tony Hawk for Playstation was good, wait until you get the dreamcast version. if you were worried about anything being different from the Playstation version, no need to worry. everything is exactly the same, only better. the graphics are jaw dropping, the levels look awesome and even the music is clearer. busting the moves and combos is really great and if you are worried about the controls being different, think again. the controls for performing the moves are the same from playstation to dreamcast (triangle=y, square=x, etc.) If you loved Tony Hawk for Playstation, or if you own only a dreamcast and have never played this game before it is a must have!

This is a great game. It has 9 different skaters to choose from. There are many different levels. It also has a career mode so you can unlock new levels and upgrade decks and stats. I play this game all the time. It is even fun to just watch someone play. Of course you don't have to do that. You can Play two player mode in Horse, Graffity, and Trick attack. This game will keep you playing for hours to come. I can highly reccommend this game!

Basically it is the same game as on the playstaion except for the graphics. When you fall in this game you dont just fall on Tv. It looks like you are actually in a halfpipe falling after going for the near impossible 900. The controls are about the same as playstation except the analog is a little bit nicer. Everything is in great detail. The sound quality is a lot better than on the playstation. Some might say that the Nintendo 64 version is just as good but this game makes th nintendo 64 and Playstaion version look like they are running on an Atari.
