Awesome Game

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 3 / 3

Super Dodge Ball Advanced is a great game. In my opinion, its got lots of replay value. Sure, you can beat it in a half hour or less, but its a sports game, so you can keep playing. The graphics are average, but how good graphics do you need to play a dodge ball game anyway. The music is alright, but a little repetitive. The game can be either really hard or really easy and anything in between with the five difficulty settings and other settings too such as, how tough it is to throw a super throw. You can link up, but I never have so I couldn't tell you how fun that is. To sum it up here is a list of pros and cons.
PROS-
1. Good replay value
2. Multiple diffuclty settings
3. Average graphics
4. Appropriate for all ages, but then again, what isn't
5. Its dodgeball
6. Game Link compatible
7. You can name characters and teams even not your own
CONS-
1. Repetative music
2. Unlike the NES game, there isn't a bean ball mode(mode that pits you individually against your teammates on a field)
3. Also unlike the classic, there aren't any River City Ransom Graphics, instead people don't even have noses. If you never played River City Ransom, the old dodgeball game or World Cup just forget that con
4. There is no team creator, which really, really sucks. That also ruins the whole point of versus mode too because you both have the same premade teams with just possible name differences.
5. Too short of a game, needs more teams or something.

Fun but shallow

This game is a blast but I must say its extremly shawdow. Fans of the old dodge ball game from an older nintendo system will probly love this game, I did but then I unlocked everything in a hour or so, sure there is more matches to play but its just a bunch of the same, I wore this game out in a day or two which is a shame because its a great game...just not enough substance. Get it if you pay $$$ or less definatly, think about it strongly otherwise.

Fun at first, gets old

This Game has a lot of the same characteristics of the original for the Super NES, which will make older gamers happy. But the game play doesn't change enough for my taste. Even the indroduction of new, more powerful teams didn't peak my excitement. In my view, it's worth renting, but because a good gamer could beat it in a half hour, it's not worth buying.

Dont You Remember This?

Wow a handheld version of the 80's nintendo sports game Super Dodge Ball i picked this game up and had a lot of fun very similar to the original NES platform version. As far as this being set in the near future this concept isnt anything new it was a sleeper game on NES and one of my favorites. Pick this game up for a good game for any age and if your not a sports fan, well why not get this one i mean hey who didnt have fun playing dodgeball at school? *cough*billgates*cough*

Excellent...if you have 2 players!

I am one of those die-hard fans of the original game on the original NES. Needless to say then, when I saw a new, improved version, I was more than happy to see it on a portable platform! Unfortunately, I was a lot younger when the original came out, and I found one notable flaw: One player mode gets pretty boring. That said, if you have 2 players and a link cable, this cart is a must buy!
The basic premise is this: two teams square off in a tennis-court shaped thingy, with 3 players from your team on your side of the court, and 3 others waiting in the wings on your opponents side, waiting for the ball to go out of bounds, or to have a closer throw. Your opponent gets the same setup.

When the whistle blows, prepare for some elementary school-style chaos! When you have the ball, you throw towards your opponent, trying to pelt him/her in the head. If you score a successful hit, a certain number of "hit points" are taken away from the receiver of said smack. If you are good, (or if you read the instruction book :P) you will discover how to do SUPER throws, which create some funny effects on the ball, and lop off a good chunk of your target's hit points in the process. If the opponents hit points are drained to zero, the player is out. Get all 3 players on the opposing side of the court out, and you win the match! (Never mind those other guys standing out of bounds...)

But beware, your opponents' objectives are the same as yours.

I would recommend this game for anyone looking for a different spin on the sports genre. It's reliving the fun (and the pain) of dodge ball days all over again!

awesome gameplay, but a little easy

Having played this when it was in the arcades more than 10 years ago, I had high expectations for this game. Having played this gameboy version, its nearly as much fun as the original, and mostly authentic.
The only negative comment I have is that its a little too easy.

A gym class favorite comes to the GBA

I remember my years playing dodge ball, the excitement of throwing balls at somebody, and the exhileration of dodging return fire. Of course I don't remember super throws and the ball splitting apart, but all that's possible on the GBA. Atlus brings this game out of the blue and it's tremendous fun. You can build your own team and take them through the international tournament. The game play is simple to pick up and it gets you right into the heart of the game quickly. The graphics are great for what would appear to be a simple game. Play control is very good, which should be expected of an intense game like this. The sound and music isn't exactly high caliber, but it doesn't frankly matter for a dodge ball game. The game design here is very unique. I've never seen a dodge ball game worth remembering until this one. Not only is the one player mode enjoyable, but a multi-player feature is added allowing you to compete against a friend in dodge ball. Surprisingly, a lot of strategy can come into play with this game. The game provides an overally enjoyable experience and is more than worth buying.

This Game is O.K

I rented this game for my GBA and they didn't give me an instruction booklet - nor have I ever played the Super Dodge Ball for the old NES. I'm no connoisseur of sports video games.

Nevertheless, I forged ahead and figured out the controls and tricks on my own. Once I had the hang of it, I was demolishing every opponent I played. So I turned up the difficulty to the max level, which didn't seem to make the least bit of difference. I marched straight up to the top of the tournament brackets and beat the final opponent without any resistance. I kept waiting to get to an opponent who would pose a challenge, but it never happened. The same maneuvers work over and over and over again; plus, you can catch the opponents' throws about 90% of the time if you just keep pushing the button fast enough. Needless to say, it stopped being fun after just a few short matches.

On the plus side, there are lots of bells and whistles. You can build your own team, giving each player the name, physique, and playing style of your choice.

So if you're a little kid or have never played a sports video game in your life, check out Super Dodge Ball Advance. Otherwise, save your money.

well to start off this game is great. it has good replay value and is just plain fun. however about the only drawback is that the championship is too easy, but for those who will dis a game just because of that if you beat the championship and special will appear which is a lot harder. as far as the exibition matches you can set the difficulty to make it more challenging.
