Not just an old school game anymore...

Who doesn't remember dodge ball? That simple school game you threw a ball at a another player and hoped that he/she didn't catch it. Now that same old fun is transported from the school yard to the Game Boy Advance.

First of all, a good place to start is the graphics. In one word: Amazing!. The game is bright and colorful and all the characters are very cool looking.

Second, the soundtrack is pretty catchy too. Each level or team has it's own little song and everything.

Gameplay is awsome with the controls being amazingly responsive and the availability of Super Throws is great. Super Throws are special throws where the player hurls the dodge ball at a hi speed and in different ways. Examples are the Mach Throw (the player hurls the ball at an amazingly hi speed.) The Pause Shot (The player throws the ball which pauses in mid air before speeding toward the selected target.) And 48 more!

Character selection is great with a lot of world class teams and when you beat them in the Championship mode, Dream Teams. The multiplayer mode also adds a great gaming value to the game too.

This is a great game for any age. If you just bought the G.B.A system and you're in doubt as to which game to get first; I recommend this one without any doubt! :-)

Great, simple, fun

Of the five games i have bought for game boy advance, this has to be the most fun. The idea of playing dodge ball against other teams throughout the world is interesting, but it probably wont happen. One of my favorite parts about this game is that it is SO easy. It is also very fun and fast, with as many as 11 moving players on the screen at once without a slow down.

The game is set in the near future, where dodgeball is as popular as any other world sport, and each kid dreams of becoming part of the professional dodge ball league. You must guide a team of 8 players (seven on the field at a time) to the top of your league, and then unlock dream teams by beating them.

There are seven players on the field at the same time. There are 4 infielders, who cannot cross the center line on foot or the sideline at all, and 3 outfielders, who must stay out of bounds and cannot be hurt. Each player must throw the ball at the infielders on the other team, lower hit points and eventually knocking them out of the match. Once all the infielders on a team are gone, that team loses. Players have their own unique super throws, like the ultra fast mach shot or the underground mole shot, which can deal more damage.

The controls are very easy once you figure them out, but in the beginning it can be kind of hard to figure out all 10 or 15 moves that they throw at you. Basically, A is pass, B is attack, A+B is jump, and combinations of those moves can result in super throws or more damage.

The graphics are OK, as there is not much animation, but even with a low animation level, it is very impressive that you can see all players clearly when 11 are moving around along with a ball. The AI is impressive too, as all players are moving around to better spots constantly.

The Sound is Ok, different on each court. The bad part is it gets very annoying in long games, as it keeps repeating itself over and over again. The sound effects are OK, with different effects for running, jumping, and all the special throws.

Overall, this game would deserve a 4 star rating, but the original idea and style of play is unmatched in any game. It just feels fun to pelt other players with balls so they fly 100 feet into the air and get away with it.

BEST LAUNCH GAME

I have to give credit to Atlus on this one. I just bought this with Krazy Racers as my first two games, and this one, WOW! I thought it would be simple, you know, catch, throw, catch, throw, but no!(hey, that rhymes)There are seven players to a team. There are already 9 teams, and they are the China Dragons, England Knights, USA Braves, Australia Stars, Russia Bears, Holland Angels, Japan Ninjas, Canada Foxes, and the Korea Bombers, each with there own team captain, who is (obviosly), there best player. Now, it's time to create your own team. If you select championhip mode, you create your own team, from the team name, to the players, there abilitys, and your home court. You will work your way through the rankings, and when you are number 1 in the coaches poll, you will face the Dream Teams. The only one which I know of now are the Iron Men, which I still have to beat. If you select Exhibition mode, you may choose between the 9 different teams or one of the teams you have made yourself, and the court. There happens to be different courts, each color representing different surfaces, green is a normal court, blue is an icy court, red is a dirt court, yellow is bouncy court, and purple is a super bouncy court(and I mean bouncy.)

Some of you may say that the gameplay is simple, not so. There are 50 different throws to master, catch and dodge. Some of my favorites are the piston shot, split throw, sidewinder, satellite, hailstorm(very hard to do, but hits hard!!), compressor and the mach throw. Another bonus to this game, you can link up and play a friend. All in all, I really enjoy this game, and there is no doubt that this is one of the best launch games for the GBA.

This game is a must have for any game player. Its levels are challenging and garuntees fun on every one. And one of the many good things about this game is the special moves you can do in it including throwing a ball really fast at your oppenent and many more. If you weren't sure what to buy for your new Game Boy Advance, this will settle your choice quickly.

If you have played the original game for the first Nintendo you would understand it very well.I think people under 6 would understand it cause there's so easy game play.I call it "Buy or Dye" because no Game Boy Advance is complete without the game "Super Dodge Ball Advance!"

I remember my years playing dodge ball, the excitement of throwing balls at somebody, and the exhileration of dodging return fire. Of course I don't remember super throws and the ball splitting apart, but all that's possible on the GBA. Atlus brings this game out of the blue and it's tremendous fun. You can build your own team and take them through the international tournament. The game play is simple to pick up and it gets you right into the heart of the game quickly. The graphics are great for what would appear to be a simple game. Play control is very good, which should be expected of an intense game like this. The sound and music isn't exactly high caliber, but it doesn't frankly matter for a dodge ball game. The game design here is very unique. I've never seen a dodge ball game worth remembering until this one. Not only is the one player mode enjoyable, but a multi-player feature is added allowing you to compete against a friend in dodge ball. Surprisingly, a lot of strategy can come into play with this game. The game provides an overally enjoyable experience and is more than worth buying.

A classic...

This is definately an old school game, with a goofy theme. ... your opponents all over court (literally) with a dodgeball. It may be a bit simple looking, but it's got a lot more then it looks. You can do 'special moves' like jumping up then hurling a 50mph ball at their faces. I thank Atlus for taking this opportunity.

This game is THE best ever!

I got my Game Boy Advance the day it came out. Unfortunately, all of the local stores didn't carry this marvelous masterpiece. So I waited. And waited. And waited some more to finally get my hands on this game. And let me tell you, it was most defintely worth the grueling wait. This game is by far the best remake of an already instant classic. Super Dodge Ball first made its debut on SNES, and it wasn't exactly the biggest blockbuster to hit the gaming universe...but its GBA counterpart has without a doubt left a HUGE dent in video game history. This game, however, has an absolutely horrible storyline, but then again, who really cares? Going to the gym and whacking people with rubber balls every day in school doesn't exactly qualify as something with a point to it", but is sure is fun as anything! This game puts those wonderful memories in your hands with massive Super Throws and virtually endless strategies to make you the Dodge Ball champion of the world! I would highly recommmend getting this game the moment you have enough money. And if you had to wait a whole month and a half like I did, you will not, I repeat WILL NOT, be dissapointed!
