If you are running Win2K, watch out!

Bought the game for my roommate because she is a Simaholic. She loves unleashed, and it seems to offer new interesting new features that people like. There are a few problems though:

Don't count on Windows 2000 compatibility. While Amazon says it's for Win2k, EA/Maxis says it's not compatible with Win2k. I installed the game, and it ran fine for a couple months, but suddenly, the game just wouldn't start. Crashed on loading. Followed EA's recommendations for correcting the problem, uninstall and reinstall everything, no luck. Just by chance I checked compatiblity, EA says no, it won't run on Win2k. I had to revert to the hated Win98 on that PC so she could play. Bad, bad move, EA *smack*.

This expansion pack is unacceptably hardware intensive. If you don't have some pretty intense hardware, please, take a shower or walk your dog while it loads... it may be ready by the time you are finished.

All in all, if you can live without pets, and the "Old Town" addition, you don't need this at all. Oh, be ready to upgrade your hardware.

Great!

I've always wanted a pet in my sims besides the fish and hamster ina cage. I loved the dogs. You couldn't do much but it was fun to take them downtown. Downtown and the dogs and cats were my favorites. This the definetely the best expansion pack ever for the sims.

Most Amazing Sims Expansion EVER

This expansion was the best! You can choose from dozens of dog and cat breeds for your lonely Sim. Then, shop for vegetables in Old Town. Sell your vegetables for money. The Sims Unleashed gives you the following: A larger neighborhood, holding Old Town, about 3 sections of houses, downtown, vacation, dogs, cats, fish, and, of course, more items, skins and building designs. This expansion pack also has real spiral staircases! And the final exciting tip is: YOUR PETS CAN HAVE OFFSPRING! Thousands of possiblities, no solution, the perfect game for people who want to be a God sometimes.

Awwww idn't he da cutest?

I rarely write reviews for anything let alone a game but I needed to here. I love the Sims, great stuff and my hats off to the company who snatched this one up. Unleashed takes the Sims to a whole new level. Got a problem with making friends to keep the social up? Get a dog! Your kid unhappy? get em an iguana, they will love it! This expansion pack was well worth the money and gives the user another theme to focus on. The stuffy uppercrust madame with her snobby purebread pup at the dog show for example is a must have in any neighborhood.
Remember when you first got the sims? The joy of seeing how they would interact with eachother and trying new actions? They revitalized The Sims by adding pets to give the veteran Sim player the same joy of exploration into just what makes thier Sim tick. Enjoy!

The best expansion yet!

People originally thought all that would be in Unleashed would be pets, but they were dead wrong. Unleashed does unleash a whole new world of the Sims; the Old Town! You can visit the Old Town and do things with your entire family, like buy pets, eat, and everything a Sim can do! It also opens up many new houses to be bought and redone, many of which are inside the Old Town themselves! I also like how they let you go and build a house while no one is living in it, so you can just play around, or even remodel a house for someone else! It's great! And the pets! I have to talk about them. You can buy a range of small pets from birds to iguanas, bigger birds such as parrots, or even cats and dogs! Although there is not much to do with the smaller pets, the cats and dogs are treated as family members. Your family can train pets, housebreak them, and build up a loving relationship with them. Cats and dogs also have personalities. Depending on their personality, they might react differently to different interactions with their owners. And of course, Unleashed opens up many new items to be bought, and all new floor and wall paper options. Unleashed is the greatest thing to ever happen to the Sims. A must buy if you own the Sims!

I bought Sims Unleashed because my friends said it was a lot of fun. They were right! There are a lot of things I love about Sims, but this one comes out on top. I especially enjoy watching them play together. There's a pet for everyone in your neighborhood. Speaking of neighborhoods, when you buy Sims Unleased you also get Old Town. There are a bunch of shops, so your Sims don't get bored. It is a lot of fun to build your own shop too. You take your pets there when you go. Your pets also go on Vacation with their owners, and they have their own special beds, and everything else that comes with owning a pet. I really love this game, and I know you will too.

My favorite expansion pack

I bought the Sims Unleashed when I couldn't find Livin Large at Toys R Us. (this was before I was old enough to order it from Amazon) I installed it into my computer and after about three minutes I was THRILLED.
The Sims Unleasheed adds a massive new area to your neighborhood (which was pathetically small) and gives your Sims the opportunity of new careers, to get pets, several new heads and skins, plus great new objects. The best part is, definitely is that now you have the ability to modify a house without having the family on hand. Used with Hot Date, Vacation and House Party, The Sims can be the best game there ever was.
One complaint I have to make is that of the pets. You'd think they could at LEAST be housebroken! They make a lot of extra work for my Sims, so they aren't really the greatest.
One thing I forgot to mention was the new Old Town, which is like made up of parks and cafes, which is one of the reasons the neighborhood was made bigger-so they could fit all that stuff in. Overall, it's a wicked game

Another great expansion for a great game

When I heard that the sims could have pets I got excited. I went out and bought the expansion pack and was truly impressed it. I've tried all the expansion packs now (excluding Vacation) and I am impressed with the imagination Maxis creators have. They have come up with so many new ideas to make the original game so interesting.
The most impressive part of the game is that there are now 40 new lots to build on! Compared to 10. That is a great way to enhance your playing experience.

The game is somewhat more challenging when it comes to the social meters of your sims. There are so many more options for social interactions that you have to work a little harder to find out which social interactions work the best between different sims.
Through and through this is a great game and a must have for any avid sims player like myself.

Unleashed needs to be restrained from the public

Ok the first and worst problem I had with this game is that it is too dagum big. If you have all the other expansion packs as well, it is just way too much for a computer that isn't brand spankin' new. My computer is a year old, I have all the expansion packs, and it was way too much. I had to uninstall the whole Sims. there really doesn't need to be so many neighborhoods. The CONCEPT of Unleashed is alright, but it needed lots of work. Also, strays that walk around are annoying. why would a stray dog open the door of your house and walk on in? It is hard to train your animals, much harder than taking care of a child or something (which is unreal!).

There is a racoon that comes around in the middle of the night and for some reason his mere presence wakes up everyone;it also plays the same music for this that plays when there is a burglar. The idea of the game gets an A plus (just because The Sims itself is so phenomenal and fun) but the execution of it gets a C.

This Game Is Not "Ruff" To Understand! (Har-Har!)

This game, in my opinion, is the BEST Sims Expansion pack yet created, and I own them all (except for Sims Online and Sims Superstar, which comes out today:May 13th). In this game, not only are many new, cool items are added on, but you are FINALLY able to purchase and take care of pets! Sure, you could have fish or a guinea pig, but all you could do with them was feed and clean their cages. Who-pee, that's what I'm talking about. Dogs and cats are considered family members, so sadly you can only have seven in one family (one out of the maximum of eight being the person to take care of them). You can now play with them, train them, and enter them in shows, which is one of my favorite things to do. There are also other pets, such as birds and, if I remember correctly, iguanas. I also remember there being new jobs, unless I am getting this confused with another expansion pack, one of them being of the Animal career track, which I, and many other Sim gamers, had been waiting for for a long, long time. And for all of you out there with a green thumb (If you literally have a green thumb, you might want to see a doctor... I am talking about if you like to work with plants or not.), you can also grow your own plants in this game. You can get a little help with them by buying a special plant tonic from one of many new places in the downtown area. Well, I think this review is getting too long, so I must end it here. Look for me at other expansion pack reviews :-P
