In antisipation

I am sooooo excited about the new game! It looks like the best yet. I have always wanted to have pets and also there are 5 new career tracks(cooking, circus, education and two more I forgot). I never really was into other exspation packs before I got them, but I am totally psyced about this one. I have a Mac, so I won't be getting this game until Jan. probably, but I am still very excited.

NOT a review - just an effort to post some info.

Sim-ers have always wanted pets. The additions of fish and hamsters were rather unsatisfying (and sometimes lethal) additions. This new expansion packs will allow your sims to have dogs, cats, parrots, turtles and lizards as well.

Lots of new social interactions have been added, althought the Sims website has not been specific as to what those are. Your neighborhoods are bigger - 30 lots each which you can zone for commerical or residential use. Also there are new homes, new parks, a new cafe, new shops and a farmer's market! Your new dog or cat can be brought to these locales and used to interact with your sim neighbors. Just like in Downtown, time freezes when you're in the community sections.

Each neighborhood will include a pet store, where you can choose from 12 different cats (e.g., black cat and siamese cat), 12 different dogs (e.g., dalmatians, beagles, french bulldogs, spaniels, rotweillers, labs, greyhounds, german shepherds to name a few), 2 different birds (lovebirds and parakeets), or buy a turtle, lizard or fish. The Maxis folks haven't forgotten any of the details of pets, if you buy a male and a female of the same species, they just might have babies, dogs and cats (and dog and cat people) might not get along, and Kitty might take a liking to your bird or fish

Beware - your doggies and kitties (but not the other animals) need to be trained and cared for so they don't go to the bathroom in the house or rip us the trash. Don't worry - Maxis is kind enough to provide a dog trainer if you're feeling lazy. But, your pets are just like a member of your family - they will have needs and skills which can be acquired (through positive and negative reinforcement). Just like people, you have to develop a relationship with them. And just like your people, they can die of neglect, so be careful! Dogs and cats will also misbehave and get grumpy if you don't take care of them. Dogs and cats can also be entered in pet shows with prizes for obedience, tricks and good pet mood. You can't bring your pets downtown (although you can probably pick up a date in the pet park) but your whole family (including your pet) goes on vacation with you.

There's new stuff for your house too - you can can garden! Grow 4 different veggies in your patch (you have to buy seeds), careful gardening will result in a crop which you can sell (at the farmer's market) or store (in your new kitchen pantry). You might appreciate your pets here as you'll need to watch out for rabbits, gophers, mice and, as Maxis says ominously, other "unwelcome animals that come a callin'." (Mice, which your cat can keep away, will join roaches as house pets.) There will be 125 new objects for you and your pets (no details on those yet either), a new decorator set (New Orleans French Quarter), new skins and 5 new career tracks (fashion design, chef, vet, teacher, circus performer). Among the new objects are new chairs, new tables, new fountains, espresso machine, pastry cart, spiral staircase, and pet-oriented objects like food bowls, catnip, dog beds, treats, squeak toys, doghouses, pet gyms, chew toys, and scratching posts.

The Best Yet

I just heard about this game the day after it came out. It sounds like this expansion pack will be the best yet! It has pets which everyone has wanted since the original game and also has a pet store. I have only seen one picture from this game and it looks awesome! It looks like there are about ten differnet types of dogs and a couple of types of cats. You can also gets parrots, turtles, lizards and fish. For fun try entering your pet ino a pet show. Also, it has those carpeted climbing things and other realistic toys for the pets in the pet store. This expansion pack also features a cafe and a market. In the cafe you can bring your pets and bring up your relationships with people through your pets. In the market I'm guessing you can buy all different types of food to eat and I'm sure they will look different then the food they always eat. I mean come on. Who wants to see their sims eat the same food over and over again. The last features in this game are the garden and the parks. You can plant your own foods and have them grow, but watch out for the mice and other outdoor creatures wanting to eat them up. In the park you can walk your pet and also play with them. This game also has five new career paths-fashion, become a culinary genius, take care of the neighborhood's pets as a trustworthy veterinarian, teach others as a noble educator, or simply run away and join the circus. There are 125 new objectsfor pets and people, dozens of new character skins and an all new decorator set with a New Orleans French Quarter theme. There is much more to tell, but then there would be no point in buying the game!

This fifth (and probably last) expansion pack adds to The Sims, the last rock to reach the heaven of the games. With this add-on you can let your Sims go to downtown and buy a cute little pet, there will be dogs, cats, parrots, etc. These pets will interact with humans, and can help you, get your relationships, up to the sky.
Other fun fact about unleashed is that there is gardening too, you can buy seeds and watch them grow into vegetables that can be sold to the local farmer's market, you got to watch out for gophers, mices and rabbits that will destroy your garden, but with the trusty pets they can help you protect your it.
This add-on also adds a farmer's market, more stores, cafes and last but not least the most important, pet stores.
Apart of having pets or working with dirt, you can also now have 5 new carreer paths, including the delicious world of cooking, your sims can be the next Donatella Versace in the world of fashion,a veterinarian, they can teach young people in the path of knowledge or join the circus

The latest and greatest Sims expansion!

Sims fans everywhere celebrate the announcement of a new, highly-anticipated expansion for the award winning game: The Sims Unleashed! One of the original requests was pets, and they have finally arrived. You will be able to chose from a variety of pets, including cats, dogs, and fish. You will have to purchase toys and food for them, and take care of them. If you don't, you will be sorry: they can destroy your flowerbeds, drink out of your toliets, and ruin a new aspect of the game: gardens! You can go to one of the new community lots and purchase seeds for a new garden, which you have to care for in several ways. You will be able to harvest it and eat the seeds from yet another new feature of the game, the pantry.

Another request from the fans that has been around almost as long as the game has is a spiral staircase, which will be included in this expansion.

Another great feature of this EP is the addition of five new career tracks. Your Sim can become a cook, join the fashion industry, become a teacher, run away and join the circus, or become a veternarian.

This game will certainly be as great as the earlier expansions. There is absolutely no reason to not get this game so order it today!!

Probably the coolest expansion pack yet!

Too Many Expansions?

I am probably one of the biggest fans of The Sims...but I have to say that there should be a limit to game expansion packs. This is the fifth expansion for The Sims! The only other thing that Maxis can improve upon in The Sims is having the Sims grow... which will probably be the sixth one (you just watch). I know I will buy The Sims Unleashed (I admit, it sounds extremely intriguing). But there is still that sneaking suspicion that Maxis left out so many of the necessities from the original game with future expansions in mind for extra simoleans. I just hope they will stop with The Sims and start The Sims 2 before my computer implodes and my wallet follows suit. It's like a drug....

Good game...but what about everything else?

I love The Sims. It is no wonder why it is the top selling game of all time. But..my problem is this...all of their expansion packs seem to have one theme that promises to be really great. And usually, it is...But it is so small. Why don't they just release all of their ideas on one expansion pack called SimReality? The Sims would age, grow, gain weight..and they could effect their health by drinking or smoking. There should also be weather in The Sims, and anatomically correct bodies for them, too. And babies shouldn't magically appear and they shouldn't have a choice to have a baby or not. It should just happen. The mom should be pregnant for 9 sim days. 1 Sim Day=1 Sim month. Anyway...sorry if I sound bitter. I still gave this game 5 stars, but it would be much better to have one big expansion pack.

The Sims Unleashed

From the begining the sims fans have always wanted pets, so here they are. To buy pets, you must purchase them in a pet store. The pets you can buy are cats, dogs, parrots, lizards, and box turtles. Their are 12 breeds of dogs(dalmations, Beagles, french Bulldogs, Spaniels, Rotweillers, labs Greyhounds and German Shepards, 12 breeds of cats(all I know of is a black cat, a Siamese cat and a persian cat),two breeds of birds(Parakeets and Lovebirds), and only one of lizards, box turtles, and fish. Ounce you get either a cat or a dog, you have to house train it and teach it tricks. If you would rather not do this, you can hire a pet trainer to do the work. Ounce your cat or dog has been trained, you can enter it in a pet show(the pet show judges mood and tricks). Your animals have social reactions too, but you cannot control them. You can buy things such as toys from a pet shop.If you own both a boy and girl dog or cat, you can end up with kittens or puppies. Another edition to the Sims Unleashed is gardening. You can plant cheap plots of three vegtables. You can later harvest them and either keep them in the pantry to eat later or sell them at the local farmers market. You can acctually live off the land. The final edition to the sims unleashed is community lots. Your neighborhood will now have 30 lots. You can zone them to accomadate faimilys or buisnesses. No townies go to the lots, so you can meet you neibors there. This expands the amount of people sims can meet. You can take your pets there. The sims unleashed also includes a spiral starcase,5 new carrers(Fashion, a culanary genius, a vet, teacher, or you can join the circus), and a New Orleans French Quarter set.

I'm a big fan of the sims but I think it's a waste to have a new expansion for the game when Sims 2 might be out in a year or so.

also with all the previous expansion this one will only help slow the game down.

with all it's popularity the Sims does have ALOT of bugs and has caused alot of problems because of the increasing number of expansions that followed it, the Sims Unleashed looks like it will only add a few more...
