The Sims Unleashed

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 7 / 9

From the begining the sims fans have always wanted pets, so here they are. To buy pets, you must purchase them in a pet store. The pets you can buy are cats, dogs, parrots, lizards, and box turtles. Their are 12 breeds of dogs(dalmations, Beagles, french Bulldogs, Spaniels, Rotweillers, labs Greyhounds and German Shepards, 12 breeds of cats(all I know of is a black cat, a Siamese cat and a persian cat),two breeds of birds(Parakeets and Lovebirds), and only one of lizards, box turtles, and fish. Ounce you get either a cat or a dog, you have to house train it and teach it tricks. If you would rather not do this, you can hire a pet trainer to do the work. Ounce your cat or dog has been trained, you can enter it in a pet show(the pet show judges mood and tricks). Your animals have social reactions too, but you cannot control them. You can buy things such as toys from a pet shop.If you own both a boy and girl dog or cat, you can end up with kittens or puppies. Another edition to the Sims Unleashed is gardening. You can plant cheap plots of three vegtables. You can later harvest them and either keep them in the pantry to eat later or sell them at the local farmers market. You can acctually live off the land. The final edition to the sims unleashed is community lots. Your neighborhood will now have 30 lots. You can zone them to accomadate faimilys or buisnesses. No townies go to the lots, so you can meet you neibors there. This expands the amount of people sims can meet. You can take your pets there. The sims unleashed also includes a spiral starcase,5 new carrers(Fashion, a culanary genius, a vet, teacher, or you can join the circus), and a New Orleans French Quarter set.

Of all the Sims expansion pack, this one adds the most to your game. It creates an entirely new kind of character , halfway between non-playable characters and playable characters. The pets have all the "bars" that show mood, but are much less complex in other ways. they can gain skill points, but there are only three kinds

The Best One Yet!

If you have a good computer, the game runs fine! Unless you use like a seven year old box, it doesn't take to long to load, the people who say it do are just impatiant and only look a negitives!

Having the edition of old town is wonderful. Not only can you visit the pet shops, (which you can edit and create new ones) you have ALOT more lots and room for many more familys. You can play the game normaly if you don't want a pet, just don't get one and ignore the neighborhood strays that come onto your property. However, you will be missing out on one of the best features of the game! Not only are there new interactions with pets, but people aswell. You can pick which type of hug, kiss, etc... you want to do, and relationships are alot harder to build (this makes it more fun!). If you visit old town, you won't loose your job because when you come back, no matter how long you were gone, it's the same time as when you left.

However, you can only visit old town if everyone is home. (this is very annoying if you have kids, which are annoying anyway. I would not recomend getting kids with pets.) Using a money cheat (rosebud) speeds things up, but be sure to have at least one house that is played to real way, so you get the full experence. A good way to not get bord with a game is to play one part of it for a while, or one way of playing. For example, one person and one pet. Then, when you master that (shouldn't take to long), get two people or two pets.

There are hundreds of new features in the game. I like to have one house for each one. For example, one of my houses is deticated to having puppies. Another is for laughs, two men fighting over one woman. If you have friends that have the game, talk to them on the phone sometimes when you're playing so you can exchange stories and laughs, or tell them what stupid thing your sim did. If you cannot master the whole thing right away, start small.

Build up your bank account before getting a pet. If you want the pet experience without the cost, befriend a neigborhood pet, or a pet from one of your other houses. Getting a pet of your own will be all worth it, though, when you bring home the gold!

Once again EA Games has propelled me to install another of their expansion packs on my over burdened inadequate system. Since my system doesn't meet Unleashed's requirements. I will not complain of speed. (The speed is fine for the most part.) There are many things I love about Unleashed. I love the new faces, clothes, and new build mode items. Especially the spiral staircases. The cats and dogs have very realistic movements and behaviors(bad and good). Each neighborhood has so many lots, I haven't filled the first one yet. With Unleashed, you can build a home, furnish it, and write a description for it as you would do for a place downtown without having to create a family first. I love that I can now put computers downtown.
My complaints are few and I've adjusted. 1.The main reason I longed for Unleashed was the new job tracks. I was disappointed that 4 out of 5 of them end in night jobs. 2.The strays are driving me crazy. Several of them come onto the lot every day and "relieve" themselves on the sidewalks, dragging down my room score and generally making pests of themselves. (I use the "move_objects on" cheat to delete the strays and their messes. Don't worry, it doesn't kill them. They eventually visit again. You have to be careful though. You can delete what the game calls a "destination" and ruin one of your lots. Deleting it causes your Sims to be unable to leave home for any reason--work, downtown, etc.) 3.Old town is no downtown. You cannot build a restaurant (stoves and podiums aren't available) and therefore, your Sims cannot remain there for long. You can grill or buy from vendors. 4.Am I the only one to notice that the female Sims have lost their seductive little walk? They now walk like the men. It makes the women look like apes dragging their knuckles.

Too Many Expansions?

I am probably one of the biggest fans of The Sims...but I have to say that there should be a limit to game expansion packs. This is the fifth expansion for The Sims! The only other thing that Maxis can improve upon in The Sims is having the Sims grow... which will probably be the sixth one (you just watch). I know I will buy The Sims Unleashed (I admit, it sounds extremely intriguing). But there is still that sneaking suspicion that Maxis left out so many of the necessities from the original game with future expansions in mind for extra simoleans. I just hope they will stop with The Sims and start The Sims 2 before my computer implodes and my wallet follows suit. It's like a drug....

Really Cool!

I think this expansion will be the best one of all! Mostly the reason I think this is because I absolutely adore pets and have always wanted them in my sims families'. In this expansion you can go to your local pet shop and buy a dog, cat, lizard, turtle, bird, or fish. And you can buy toys, dog houses, treats, and a lot more for you and your pets to enjoy. There are 125 objects in all. But that's not all you get! Also there are new skins. Another addition is gardening! Now your sims can buy seeds at the farmer's market and plant them in their garden. Once the seed has grown into a plant you can store it in your kitchen pantry or sell it at the farmer's market. Your pets will come in handy as they chase away the bunnies, mice, gophers, and other animals that come a callin. This game looks great! I'm buying it the first day it comes out!

Pros and Cons of the Game

This game, is overall a good exspansion pack! It certainly gives you more to do.
PROS:
Exploring old town gives you places to go and people to see!
Even if you only create 1 person there are about a million people around.
If you have a girlfriend/boyfriend they will give you presents.
You can teach your pets to chase away pests and fetch the paper.
There are about 50 more doors, walls, and objects.
If you buy seeds at a store you can plant a vegetable garden.
When you call a neighbor you can just talk.
You can change your clothes to whatever you want and they will stay that way until you change it.
There are five new careers: Fashion, culinary, circus, education, and animal care.
You can change into your job uniform any time you want.
You can enter your pets in a competition and win trophies.
You can design shops not just houses.
CONS
Theres so much to do its overwhelming
When exploring old town your energy goes down way too fast
your pets are really hard to take care of, can wake you up, die, run away, and hurt you

Despite of the cons I would definitely reccomend this game!

Yay Pets!

This is a good expansion pack. You get extra space for more houses, more careers, many new items, and, most importantly, pets! A pet is a great friend for a lonely sim, and is also a great idea for other sims as well.

Your sim can choose from a cat, a dog, a turtle, a bird, a lizard, or a fish. There are several different types of cats and dogs and you can also download additional pet skins from the Maxis web site.

You can also customize the community lots (parks and stores) in this game, which is a nice feature.

I just wish you could get the tall fish tanks and the pet gym for your own home (they are only available for community lots).

Oh and it would have been really cool if you could get a horse. This is mostly because I love horses in real life and it would be neat of my sims could have one too.

Awesome Game!

Another new game for the Sims line, Unleashed is definately the best yet. You can buy many new pets such as 8-10 different kinds of dogs, 8-10 different kinds of cats, birds, fish, and much more. There is also a whole new setup in the neighborhood, and a brand new farmer's market and pet store. Like always, there is still a spot to build your own shop or store. There are many more items, including beds, toys, food bowls, and more for your pets. Now, not only can your Sims earn points, but your pets can too! Cats and dogs can both learn obedience and trick points. Cats can learn an additional hunting, and dogs can learn housebreaking. You can take your pets to the new Park, and enter them in shows. Your placement depends on how many points your pets have. Again, this is another great game from Maxis, and I am waiting for more expansion packs. I am also waiting to buy/receive(Christmas is getting closer!) The Sims Online.

Fun-- I'll tell you all the pro's & con's!

This game is really fun, although addicting. I like this game a whole lot, but when you read the people who love this game's reviews, they tend to not touch all the things that are wrong with the game. First of all, you can go downtown and buy pets like kittens and puppies which are really fun to own, but they don't grow older into cats and dogs, and there isn't a wide range of things to do with them. Second, the neighborhoods are MUCH bigger. They extend very far, and you can fit almost 30 houses in one neighborhood. Thirdly, all the new objects, floors, walls, skins, and heads the game has. The furniture is really pretty, and the floors and walls are something most of you would actually find in your own home. And, there are much more skins and heads that come with this! Even some new children's clothes (finally)! And last but not least, I just need to say that although this game is fun and has a lot of new things, it crashes in the middle of a game sometimes, and you have to start all over. What I have learned to do, is just save the game when like every day (in sim time). That way, you won't have to do that much more! Well I hope I helped! Good luck, simmers!
