Love this game!

I am not usually a video game person but my boyfriend wanted the game so i got it for him. I used to play Nintendo back in high school and was pretty good at the whole eye hand coordination thing. It was great playing against my beau and kicking his butt in ever round. I 'm better than I expected. THe graphics are cool, and I like how the strength of the player is depicted in the looks of the character. My beau doesn't want to play that game with me any more but it's still a great game.

Surprisingly good!!

Previous reviews on the game kept me from purchsing this game. Unsuspectedly, I received it as a gift this x-mas, and it is better than I thought it would be. The only thing is that the voices sound weird, but not the music, the music is good it is the voices of the characters which sound echoed and like they are coming thourgh a metal tube. Other than that it is pretty decent game. I especially like the idea of the wounding and limb damage, which makes perfect sene for a fighting game. Still Mortal Kombat is way better.

OK Game

This game I had high hopes for. I thought it was going to be incredible, but I was sort of disappointed. I like the graphics and I thought it looked great 90% of the time. The women are hot, and there is a dude in the game called Divine Fist that looks just like Jet Li. Divine Fist looks like Jet Li, but he is pretty weak and is easily beaten. Iron Monk is the best male character in the game and Jade Dragon is the best looking female character in the game. Though the story of the game takes place in China and supposedly based on Chinese mythology, not all the characters are Chinese. There is one female character called Geist aka Gei Yi, supposed to be a Chinese assasin from Macau, but looks like she's of African descent. Well other than these little oddities, the graphics are good and story has potential. The major problem is the gamability. Characters are hard to use, and they can't block. I hit the block button and it has no affect. The hits don't look solid, and the hitting motion looks ridiculously fast. It's not as good as is advertised on the DVD keep case. For the price, it might not be that bad though, but I recommend "Dead Or Alive 3", the best fighting game in XBOX,and "Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance", the second best fighting game in XBOX rather than, or in inclusion to this game.

Dissapointing

I looked forward to a good X-box fighter for almost a month. I bought it the day it came out with huge expectations and was thouroughly dissapointed. The graphics are good and the off the wall attacks and limb damage is ingenuitive but thats about it. The fighting style's compared to Tekken 4 are weak and no where near as subtle between fighters, some are slow, some are fast but thats seems to be the only difference. And the Chi powers lose their appeal into the third round. On top of everything else the characters are boring and just plain [weak]. If you want a real deep fighting game with different fighting styles and interesting characters do not buy this game. If your looking for a way to talk &%&# with your buddies maybe but otherwise save your money.

One of the worst fighting games I have ever played

this one is so much fun. i guess im not a geek who sits around all day fantasiing about fake cartoon girls and is upsessed with combos and specials but.... i lovedt his game. the characters look great the are some of the best i have seen. multiplayer is such a blast and one player is actually fun. the challenge is there but welcome. the one player campaign doesnt feel like homework and the levels are truly awesome. the arenas and characters are "destructible" and i love it.
Graphics 5/5

gameplay 5/5
CPU 3/5
multiplayer 10/5
but here is the main problem. the fiery phoenix is the best character. i can "smoke" any one when i play as him. but when my friend or i play as someone else the results are completely different. and the CHIs are disappointing. it is better to circle your oppenent until they strike them batter them with a kick combo.

Why it's a great game.

There is alot of good points to this than most of you are naming. First I love the diffuculty in preforming combos as it makes you feel like you are experiencing the diffuculty the fighters have when they had to learn it. Also I take Kenpo/Karate and believe me that combos are the only way to go, why bother for a game that involves 1 or 2 hits when you can do combos. Something that I love about this game is realisticness of the moves, no soul charge, or any of those ridiculous Soul Caliber moves. Yes I know theres the Chi moves, but who doesn't believe in an inner energy, our inner strength, of course not to the degree of Soul Calibur (I don't hate Soul Calibur I actually love the game, but when it comes to realistic moves and fighting, Tao Feng: Fists of Lotus is the way to go. Also Each character has a deep storyline and history, giving them depth and a defining personality so you are able to realate with them and fine a fighter thats like you, feeling attached to them. While Mortal Kombat may have Storylines most of the fighters storylines from that game are pretty hard to relate to with the excepting of a few like Lou Kang, Shoujinko, but the others have such crazy stories that wich is hard to relate to. Overall Tao Feng is an extemely good game. I do so hope they make a sequel in which you can use weapons and I hope they make a movie out of the game!

Great game,

I picked up this game after reading a few of the reviews, it seems though that this game has gotten mixed reviews. I pretty much knew what to expect, I have not been let down the least bit and I am loving every min of gameplay.
Cons: Depending on the enviornment, the camera sometimes switches if it gets too close to a wall. After a while though, you end up knowing when it will switch and end up anticipating it. The controls are sometimes a bit too percise and unforgiving. After I went through training mode though I got the hang of how things work and all is well now.

Pros: Where do I start? I don't understand why everyone is complaining about. This game has a great balence between defense and offense. Enviormental attacks that's all I gotta say. You have to be constantly be aware of your opponents position; if your opponent is too close to a wall or pole, look out cause you're gona get attacked. Likewise if your opponent does attack off a wall or pole, if you can block the attack, there is a window of opportunity in which to counter attack. Then on the other end of things, you are alwalys trying to position yourself to attack off the enviornment. No more turtling!!! You also get damage for excessive blocking, if you block too much you get limb damage, then you're attacks for either the upper or lower body are only 50 percent. LD comes in real handy when you are fighting someone that is constantly using upper or lower body attacks and causing tons of damage. Just give them LD and you are set until they can heal. Overall, the animation looks fluid and TF has some of the best throws I have seen in a game to date. The graphics are some of the best ever in a video game anywhere. The sound is fantastic as well, try running it through a home theater. Man, there's too much good stuff to say about this game, I could go on, but the thing I like most about this game is that it's a breath of fresh air from all the other stale fighters out there trying to clone one another. Try it out yourself and see what I mean. And learn the combos!!!

Either you're going to like or you'll hate it...

I got mine used, because the previous owner didn't like it.

The Good- Graphics are amazing. They easily beat DOAX and most certainly MK:DA. The voice work is top notch. This game is the king of polish. Thankfully I never paid attention to the advertising, so theres nothing for me to be falsely anticipating. (I've seen a few reviews that ding the game for not matching the commercial).

The Cheap- The controls are not intuitive. The training interface is clunky. It's not a game you will be able to just pick up and go. You're going to have to read the manual.

Definitely worth the hype

Hate to say it, most of the bad reviews seem like they are from people who are inexperienced in fighting games. This game has a very steep learning curve, but once you learn it, it's a joy to play.

Also, this game shines when playing against another human, single player mode is "ok" but you buy a fighting game to fight!
