Plenty of Better Fighting Games Around

1 Rating: 1, Useful: 4 / 5

This game is just awful. The graphics are great, but that's about all this game has going for it. The only player game would be enjoyable if it weren't for the RAMPANT cheating by the computer. The computer is both stronger and faster than you no matter which combination of characters are fighting. When the computer hits you, it's stuns you long enough for the computer to have its way with you for a few minutes. Of course, you're hits barely slow the computer down. The computer can break your combos while you cannot do the same to it. Most of the time, when the computer defeats you, you don't even feel like you were allowed to participate in the match. Stick with DOA 3 or Soul Calibur 2; those games have the gameplay to match their graphics.

Don't Beleive The Hype!!

First off the only plus I can find in this game is the Graphics. Although every character has their own moves + combos, they are very basic and easy to learn. There will be no strategy guide for this game. The games replay value even with friends over is very little. Worst of all the camera angle changes the game makes while fighting will cause you to throw a controller or two. I was highly dissapointed in this game becasue I looked forward to playing another good fighting game on Xbox besides Dead OR Alive 3. Not!!Still waiting!! Still playing DOA3.

The plague upon plagues.

When I purchased this product my brain must have been suffering from a chemical imbalance. The gameplay experience is so bad I should compare it to being kicked in the crotch for days on end. While it looks good it doesn't make up for the fact that you are controlling a character that can't block or link a combo to save his pathetic ass, which in turn makes him not a fightng game character but a uncontrollable madman that despite you best intentions will doze off in the middle of a battle and proceed to have the enemy pummel him into the ground with a 13+ combo.

AVOID ALL THINGS CONCERNING THIS GAME!

I don't care if it involves you shooting your way out of the situation it still will not scar you mentally nearly as much as this game.

Wait for Soul Calibur

I expected a much better game than was hyped. The controls are terrible and unresponsive. It is one of those games that give you more eye candy but the actual game play just really stinks. I am glad I didn't pay full price for this game otherwise I would be very ticked off. If you still want to buy it try to find it at a cheap price on this website.

DONT BUY IT

I bought this game a week ago. I thought it would be good.I soon knew that I just wasted 50 dollars. PLEASE do not get this game you will not regret it.I changed the difficulty to easy on all modes, but it turns out ta be EXTREMLEY HARD.O YAH, and you work SOOOOO hard for a secret character and it only unlocks him in versus. WHAT A [WASTE!!!] SO... if you r lookin for a good fightin game atleast save your money or get sumthin else, like mortal kombat deadly alliance or DOA 3. BUT whatever you do not get this game. :.)

This is probably the most dissapointing game I have ever bought.
The controls are sluggish and the combos are weak.It is better to let your " chi meter" fill up and push one button than do 5 or 6 button combos that are blocked or just not effective.Save your money and buy DOA 3 which may be easier but is just alot more fun.

One of the worst fighting games I have ever played

It is just too bad, good graphics and that is it, don't even think about buying it. It is just horrible.

One of the poorest fighting games yet

I'll first preface this by saying that contrary to the catch-all statement used by many of the 5-star raters for this game, indeed I am a very experienced and very skilled fighting game player who has played numerous games up to Tao Feng. Furthermore, I have taken the time to learn the ungodly combos for this game and have used various characters, and still I find the game to rate 1 out of 5 (would be less if possible).

The gameplay is quite disjointed, as it is completely lacking in fluidity. Oftentimes landing a hit (or block) is a game of Russian roulette; when two people battle it out with combos, the luck of the draw appears to be the main factor between being nailing a two to eight hit combo on your opponent, and being forced to helplessly accept that combo with no opportunity to counter or block. Further, the characters are so dissimilar, and so disproportionate in abilities, that there are plenty of opportunities for an opponent to continue to use one character, and merely repeat the "cheap shots" that one must endure invariably, depending on the character they he or she has chosen.

Unlike most fighting games, it is difficult to tell the proper time to block or otherwise evade a hit/combo. The disproportion among the fighters, along with the poor gameplay, as well as jerky movements and animation, make for an unpleasant gaming experience when compared to other fighting games. Granted, the graphics may be impressive, but not enough to make up for the lacking in the other areas.

Save your money and pass this one up (or at least rent it before you buy it).

Hard Misses

Tao Feng is a below average fighting game. It's best feature is the limb damage and nice graphics, but everything else in the game is a miss. the controls are sluggish. You'll notice a slight delay when you press the buttons to the character on screen responding to it a second later. Sound effects are weak and you can barlely hear the smacks. The novelty in this game is that when you block attack too much you can have limb damage in your arms or legs. You'll see the characters limping and do less damage when they attack. But they can repair their injuries when they do combo moves on you, which defeats the whole purpose of "limb damage". The fighting techniques are uninspired and lack that extra -oomph-. The character's animation look a bit stiff and lack fluidity which other fighting games have. In addition to the stiffness, the characters are very ugly looking. They look like platic action figures and have a bunch of tattoos on their bodies. There are only a few fighting arenas and they are mostly dark settings. There is only a few unlockables and they are not satifying. There are better fighting games out
there, save your money for those.

Pros:
+nice graphics
+good sound effects
+limb damage

Cons:
-ugly character designs
-uglier music
-unresponsive controls
-combos are hard to pull off
-difficult to block attacks
-short game
-weak animation
-dark looking arenas
-lacks intensity
-fighting techniques look generic

Be warned

This game was startlingly mediocre. As someone who has been obsessed with the 2-D street fighter games (third strike, marvel v snk, marvel v capcom) and 3-D(tekken tag and virtua fighter 4)I was severely disappointed... The fighting system is severely lacking and there are only a few characters, mostly uninteresting ones. The graphics are good tho, and there aren't a lot of good fighting games for the xbox, which is why I gave it two stars instead of zero. Rent it first, because after about a week I'm ready to sell it-I've got Virtua Fighter 4 to play.
P.S. I just got the Sims and it [is great].
