Best PSP action game out

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 4 / 5

I've had this game for 3 days now and I love it it's just the right amount of depth and it lasts a very long time considering the extremely high amount of quests and if you do get it don't
get stuck in the wrong catacomb off of the start.

Great Game

Now, I'm not a big fan of RPG's but, this one is very well done and entertaining. The story is a little boring and the loading is arduous. The screens are kind of cool though, but they get old fast. On the goodside, the game is addictive. Some of the enmies are original while some see to be just thrown in and unoriginal. The gameplay is good and the camera is easy to figure out. I just finished and I was never bored throughout the game. Very good , I reccomend it.

This is the Game that never ends!

This is the first game I purchased for the PSP. I did enjoy it. For the first month I played it that is.
The game does have some entertaining battles and quests. However, it just never ends.
Every time I thought I finished the final quest, it suddenly generated nine more for me to complete.
Don't get me wrong, I love the RPG and have always loved the Genre, but every epic must come to an end sometime.
The quests began to get very tedious after a while. I felt like I was being forced to go here, now here, now go over there, now go back here, now go that away... you get the idea.
I am happy I played it, but after three and a half months of near constant game play I had to eventually give up.

Reminds me of Diablo for the PC

Let me preface this by saying that I have earned my pointy ears (both elven and Vulcan) and that I have played role-playing games before they ever made it onto computers. An unfortunate side effect of computer-based RPGs is that while they remove the headache of the math and scratch paper, they also remove the true role-playing aspect.
Brotherhood of the Blade makes an attempt at a plotline, but can be frustrating at times due to a lack of guidance as far as how to navigate from one area to another. If a quest is in section "D", you need to learn the maps well enough to be able to find your way through "A", "B", and "C" to reach your goal. Once there, and the entire way there, the game is little more than hack-and-slash, with few of the computer-controlled NPCs or monsters really able to offer you a challenge.
Now, then, on to the good. Although there are quests handed down in a certain order to progress the plot line, you are not funneled directly into one action or another. I cleared out the same sewer system four times before I realized I would need the quest assigned before it did any good - but it helped me rack up experience points like crazy!! It's also fun to collect totems and runes to see what combinations of magic items you can make.
Overall, the game is very much like the old PC game "Diablo" in its basic play. Your character goes into various environments on quests to kill certain monsters or characters and you gather treasure on the way. When you have enough experience, you go up a level and increase your skills and statistics. When you complete a quest, you return to the person who gave you the quest to gain experience. When you collect too much treasure, you must return to town to sell off some of your items (or trade them in) so you can go back and gather more.
It's an OK game, probably better for younger players, and has decent graphics, especially considering the redraw rate for all the action on the screen. I have yet to finish the game, because it is a very large map system, but doubt if I will because it doesn't hold my attention very well.

A Good RPG for the Launch of the PSP

Great game, good graphics, and a ton of variety with character types. The sounds effects are amazing along with the engaging music.

If you like Neverwinter Nights, Dungeon Siege, or Diablo 2, you'll enjoy this game.

Downside? Load times are bad sometimes . . .1 - 2 mins is a long time but what can you expect from a disk-media type game system.

Regardless, the game is great and it's a must for RPG fans.

Really good game!!!

This is a really good game about a small city called Aven. You have been chosen as a guardian and you get to pick between an alchemist, a berserker, a knight and a druid. druids and alchemists are the main spellcasters, working with kind of offensive spells. berserkers and knights work more up close to the enemy. i would advise this game for anyone who likes adventure, fighting and beating up bad guys!

This is a great handheld game, but it could be better.

This is just my third game purchased for the PSP, and because Diablo II is one of my favorites on the PC, this seemed like a good choice for some fun gameplay on the go. For the most part, this is a fun game... but a few things are missing that have made the experience a bit frustrating at times. I think the game would be better if the Map view included a compass. There are many times when I was exploring a level in search of a certian baddie or another gateway... and it's very easy to get lost because there is no compass telling you which direction you are going. To complicate things more, the map doesn't show where you've been and haven't been (like Diablo, which darkens areas that have yet to be explored).

Another frustration is the minimal selection of weapons, armor, rings, amulets, etc... Compared to games like Diablo and Dungeon Siege, the selection here is very limited. I don't know how many times I've killed some major baddie, only for him to drop the exact same weapon or armor that I already have in use. Yes, you can sell things in town, but it's rare to find anything better than what you have. I am currently a level 32 Druid and I have over 75,000 gold saved up... and there's nothing that I ever buy besides arrows and health potions (at $500 each). I really wish there were some sets or rare magical items that you could find or buy, but so far that's not been the case.

Unlike other games in this genre that usually give you a limited amount of space to store the stuff you pickup, this one limits the weight of what you can carry. As a level 32, I can carry my armor, a bow w/200 arrows, a one-handed sword, a two-handed sword, and a small variety of potions and rings/amulets. I can pickup about 5 or 6 dropped items before I run out of space. Of course, when you level up you can allocate more points towards your weight limit... but that's at the cost of better strength, health, attacks, and other things you need to survive. I guess that's what makes it fun, right?

Another annoyance that isn't particlar to this game... you start out in the beginning with a wimpy sword and zero armor... but you venture out and kill some guys with a few hits, level-up, find better weapons, etc... As you level up and get more power and items, the bad guys are harder to kill, so you have to hit them a few times to kill them (just like a level 1)... so what's the difference from the beginning when you had nothing? Your spells, that's it.

Don't get me wrong, it's still a fun game for the most part, but I hope the sequel addresses some of the issues I've touched on. If you read this after another version of Untold Legends is released, I'd seriously consider that version if you can afford it.

Good For What It Is

When first get your PSP you have a big question ahead of you, what game do I buy first? While this game may not be the best launch title overall, people who enjoy games like Diablo and Baulders Gate will find it is worth the money.

Brotherhood is a hack and slash in the style of The Two Towers and Return of the King with RPG elements (i.e. upgrades and armor) and magic as well. There are four selectable classes but really two main types, melee and magic. The druid and alchemist are both magic based and the berserker and paladin are melee based. The berserker is faster and the paladin is stronger I would have liked to see more variety in the classes. Despite this you won't find yourself pigeonholed into fighting a certain way. I would have also enjoyed more customization in my characters gender, face, hair, etc.

The thing that bothered me most was that all of the interactions in the game are text based and not voiced. They didn't even have a cutscene in the beginning, again only a text narative. However, we have to look at the game for what it is, a launch title that is made to be played on the go. This game is perfect if you find yourself on a bus, train, or stuck in traffic. You'll find you have just enough time to complete a quest or two, level and save your game. If you sit down at your house and play this game like you would a consel game, you'll soon find yourself losing interest. So in the end I give it four stars but if this were anything but a launch mobile gaming title it would probably get a two or one star rating.

good and long!

I just finished the game with a berserker and the game is awesome, lots of bosses and levels, over 100 levels. The Shadowed God is not very strong but it has a very high defense, and Kaylee is very quick when you fight her.The graphics are good, but I was a bit dissapointed because of the view, still it was good,it is the game with the longest story on PSP yet and it only takes a little memory, less than 100KB.If you people need any help with any PSP,DS,GameCube or GBA [...]
