Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade
I can't get enough of this game! One of the most addicting games out there. Supper fun, even though game play is quite repeitive. But if you want to play a classic DnD style dungeon crawl game, this is AWESOME. Great price, great gameplay, great game.

Good Start

This is a fairly pedestrian top down hack and slash game. It is also one of the first releases for the PSP. The colorful and clear graphics spotlight the strength of the psp. Though the game was your basic get a quest, go to a dungeon and find what you need and return to the person who sent you. I never got bored with it. There are a fair number of monsters and bosses to keep things interesting. I did like that you had the power to return to your home city at any time which makes it a lot easier than backtracking through a dungeon. I also like the teleports that you find as you explore, which makes getting to the far out places a lot easier the second time you need to reach them. The story is good though it has been done many times before. My problem with the game came as I got to the higher levels. The monsters were no longer a challenge, nor was the final battle with the shadow god. A few healing potions and a bunch of hacking and it was over. The ending is also kind of strange. After the shadow god battle you are shown an epilogue for a few minutes and then the game resumes. There are about 7 more missions you are given and when you complete them nothing happens. You are not given more quests, but the game does not end. I had to check with others online to make sure that I was not doing something wrong, but I was assured that is how the game ends. Still overall it was a fun game and gave me plenty of hours of entertainment.

Having just completed Dungeon Seige several times through and loving it. I would have to say that Untold Legends Brotherhood of the Blade is even a cut above. Unique classes to chose from with special abilities that add a little extra spice to the game. Some of the most tedius parts of RPGs are traveling back to town and inventory control. Untold Legends BOB makes managing these tasks less tedious than others. The game is fun and there is little to slow down the action. It is perfect for the PSP which is built for fast and fun gaming. I highly recommend this for gamers that love slugging there way through dungeons while watching there character develop.

I never could get in to this game. I think the "top down" view just didn't seem right to me. Plus the graphics aren't all that great. This game basically fell into the large pit of boring PSP games that everyone complains about. I can't think of any redeeming qualities that this games possesses. It's just boring.

Fun at first, but ends up feeling like a bad hack and slash game as time goes on

This game has its moments, but ultimately this game just isn't that good of a game.

At first the enemies seem vast, but like in your MMO's. You realize your basically killing the same spider or skeleton as you progress through the game. Only with them looking a bit different.

If you have played Diablo you will be comfortable with this game. Its basically Diablo when you really get down to it.

This is the Game that never ends!

This is the first game I purchased for the PSP. I did enjoy it. For the first month I played it that is.
The game does have some entertaining battles and quests. However, it just never ends.
Every time I thought I finished the final quest, it suddenly generated nine more for me to complete.
Don't get me wrong, I love the RPG and have always loved the Genre, but every epic must come to an end sometime.
The quests began to get very tedious after a while. I felt like I was being forced to go here, now here, now go over there, now go back here, now go that away... you get the idea.
I am happy I played it, but after three and a half months of near constant game play I had to eventually give up.

I haven't put it down yet....

...and I think I am close to being done. If Sony allowed "infrastructure" connections, this would be a much better game. I don't ride a schoolbus with a bunch of kids who all play this game (I have not ridden a bus for over 30 years) so the wi-fi feature is useless to me.

So far, every maze in the game can be negotiated with a "follow the right wall" feature. The controls are fairly simple - the only one that is impossible to use is "block" which requires a two finger chord (right and circle). I would argue that it should be swapped with weapons change (right and X) at least as an option.

The good news is that as a druid, I've never had to block, even once, to win a fight - there are few places I have not been able to get through by pumping heal potions - and those simply have to be approached slowly.

Druids get pets (I have no idea if the other classes get pets). At low levels, they get a tumbleweed that will simply annoy and occupy the mob, while at high levels they get a tempest that will actually fight and will take out annoyance mobs automatically. There are some deathtraps - you can get swarmed by so many hard hitting mobs that you won't survive - there is a place where the "rhinos" swarm you, in particular - once you get five of them on you, you might as well not waste your potions - you can try a spell, but you'd have to be stupidly lucky to get an "instant death" on two of them. It is always a matter of tactics - many of those situations can be approached with arrows.

I was worried that this would be a game where shooting skill would men life or death - but if you spend some time leveling, you can pretty much take any boss with the right tactics - for some it is shooting at a distance and for others it is engagement. But arrows aim semiautomatically (better if you have higher dex, I think). It is not a game where you set your actions by turns, but it is a game where your shooting skill probably won't matter.

I'm having fun playing this game - while it is a bit repetitive, I'm having fun watching the story unfold and I'm wondering how it will turn out.

Although in the begining this game was a little frustrating, it proved to be interesting and challenging. Most annoying thing is the load time. However, I do like the fact you can save at any point.... just remember to do so!
