Ya know how in Resident Evil-esque games you are in a city/town overtaken by zombies, well it's in this game! Ya know how in Resident Evil-esque games you have to find a key to unlock a door and both are usually on opposite ends of the map? Well, it's in this game. Ya know how in Resident Evil-esque games you have to run from the zombies because you just don't have the ammo or health to stand and fight? Not in this game, baby! Plenty of ammo to blast the ugly offa them deadites...and if ya run outta ammo, whomp 'em upside the head with a shovel, or better yet IMPALE 'em with your "handy" chainsaw. Yeah, it ain't pretty...but it's hella fun...and somebody's gotta do it!!! This game basically runs off the State of Emergency engine, you run around completing tasks and progressing in story mode all the while leaving behind a bloody mess.

Graphics = B- (lots of greys and greens, plenty of red but by no means shows off the system's abilities.)

Sound = A+ (chainsaws, gunshots, shovel bonks and plenty of Bruce Campbell ATTITUDE!)

Gameplay = B (a little repetitive, but if you are a fan of Evil Dead or zombie killing it's a fun ride)

Overall = Fans of the movie will eat this up and for [the price] it's decent enough for others to kill a few hours killing a few deadites. I think it's a great tension reliever and adds a new chapter to the mythos. Two thumbs way up!!!

Good value game

I was a little apprehensive about buying this game even for its low price after all the poor critical reviews the previous Evil Dead games received. But thankfully, this is a solid, even without being anything groundbreaking, survival horror game.

You basically run around killing hundreds of deadites, who you can thin out but never entirely wipe out in an area, with shovels, your chainsaw and all sorts of firearms including your trusty boomstick. And along with these weapons you learn spells ( the possess deadite spell has a cool effect to it ). And there are a few puzzles to solve and big boss deadites to kill along the way.

The control is good, the story is humorous and moves along at a good pace, and there are enough deadites swarming you to make the game challenging. The only downside I have found so far is that when you die, especially before fighting a boss, there is dialog that you will have to sit and listen to that you can't fast forward through, making some encouters repetitive and boring.

I recommend this game to any horror / action game fan, it is a quality, good value game.

Evil Dead: Fistful of Boomstick Reviewed by Mr. Sean David

Let me start off with this. Fistful of Boomstick is definitely better than the horrible Hail to the King. It still doesn't stack up to the likes of BloodRayne or Devil May Cry. First off, the graphics aren't terribly great, but decent. CG is pretty good, though and Bruce Campbell( AKA "Ash" ) is the only detailed character on the game. Sound is great with the afforementioned Bruce Campbell lending his voice and his one-liners are hilarious as always, but music is barely adequate. Controls handle pretty well and there's no denying the sweet, sweet pleasure of chainsawing a Deadite and tossing a stick of dynamite in its mouth. Yes, FOB does give you such sequences of fun things like that, but also has parts of boredom as you wander around pretty generic levels( all levels consist of the same town, just different eras ). Now if you're a Evil Dead fan, you'll probably like it. I enjoyed it despite it flaws. But if you're looking for another DMC or BloodRayne, wait for their sequels or in DMC's case, wait for its prequel. I'm giving it a 3 out of 5. This is Sean David siging off.

Until then,
Semper Fi, Carry On.

If you are an Evil Dead fan buy this game

If you are an Evil Dead fan just buy this game. With a [modest] price you get the campy horror, amusing one-liners and entertaining game play. Bruce Campbell is back as the voice of Ash, and he is obviously having fun with it. The game makers and Bruce put a lot of effort into pleasing the fans. This is just a fun game for Evil Dead fans and I couldnýt be any more pleased with my purchase

Simple Fun

By the price tag one should not expect the new top of the line action game. However for $... you get one hell of a game.

Evil Dead fist full of Boomstick is about Ash (Bruce Campbell) once again having to take on the legions of deadits brought to Dearborn Michigan after a moron proffesor plays the recording for the NEcronomicon on a local UHF station. The end result is that Dearborn is now overrun with Deadits. Not one to let that stand in the way Ash goes about slicing dicing and blasting his way through six levels of heavy duty action.

Now a lot of people heard this was a bad game, well to be honest the only magazine that said this was bad was Electronic Gaming Monthly. Every other magazine gave it a minimum of average to well above average. That seems to beat out the negativity 10 to 1. This is in fact a fun game, a little simple but the difficulty is enugh that it won't frustrate average gamers but still be enough of a challenge that even Vetrens will have some challenge every now and then.

If you like the Evil Dead films then you will LOVE this game. If you are a fan of the man then you will be in heaven for the next couple of days. If you do not know who ASH is or what Evil Dead is then you are directed immediately to watch the films instead...

(1)The Evil Dead.
(2)Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn
(3)Army of Darkness (Evil Dead 3)

... once you have done that you are now in a better position to enjoy this game release which tries to be Evil Dead 4, but isn't really. The story is interesting (Ash must save a town from the deadites which have taken over) but the gameplay is only so-so entertainment (good 3D environment though) and there is nothing new here we have not seen before elsewhere, but like I said you must be a fan to give this one 5 stars or else it is just 3 star material. Basically you must run around town (kinda plays like State of Emergency with the bad guys running after ya), close otherworld portals, find items, hack up zombies with a chainsaw, blow them away with a shotgun (cool over-the-sholder moves and everything), defeat the end bosses and save the gal.

For all intensive purposes if you like the Evil Dead movies or want to BE Bruce Campbell for a few hours a day then this is EXACTLY what you have been looking for. Don't even continue this review and just get the darn thing. For all those lowlifes out there who do not know what ED is then GO FIND OUT and come back here later when you get what all the fuss is over.

I also recommended checking out his book "If Chins Could Kill".

HAIL TO THE KING BABY!

Evil Dead: Fist Full of Boomstick but the Shovel's better

This game is one of the most rediculous games I've ever played. Sure it's fun and all. I can't lie, I played it for 3 hours straight, but the problem was that I hardly got anywhere. To pass a level, you have to solve several puzzles or find hidden items, and you have no idea what you're looking for most of the time, and there are no hints throughout the game if you get stuck. Another thing that [is bad] is that your chainsaw does such little damage. I'd rather have a boomstick in one hand and the shovel in the other. And the Chainsaw combos are hard to do. Plus, there are so many guys coming toward you, you can't possibly pass a level without getting close to dying a few times. There's virtually no health packs, and the ones you do find, you end up using because you spend so much time trying to figure out simple stuff like trying to get into the Museum.
Another thing that [is bad] is the fact that when you're fighting the first boss (in the museum), and you die, you have to watch the 30-second intro EVERY TIME you try to play him again. One cool thing I have to say is that the boss is actually smart when it comes to throwing fireballs. He'll actually throw them ahead of you to try to get you to run into them when you're running. It took me three tries to figure out how to hit him... But the biggest beef I have is the fact that after you beat the boss with only one unit of health left, (unlike Zelda and MGS where you start again with full health and then some) you have to start the next level with that ONE unit of health. And it just happens that the next level starts you off in a pit against 30 or more deadites all attacking you at once, 2 large ogre things running at you, no magic to cast spells, and no health packs to be seen. How the hell do you get outta that?! Now I gotta start a new game because, again, I have to watch the intro to the level everytime I die, and it's pretty often with one unit of health and 30+ deadites running straight for you.
On a lighter note, Gameplay is awesome (although I kinda get dizzy from the screen spinning all the time when you're running around). The spells are pretty cool, weapons [were good](besides the chainsaw), Bruce Campbell's taunts are funny although they get old after a while, and I like the fact that the game's not EASY. (Although a few more health packs would be nice every once in a while)

AFTER LOVING THE FIRST '' EVIL DEAD '' GAME I COULD HARDLY WAIT FOR THE NEW ONE TO COME OUT.. MOST PEOPLE DID NOT LIKE THE FIRST GAME , WHICH I THINK IS MAINLY DUE TO HOW HARD IT WAS . AFTER ALL-THE DEADITES CONTINUALLY RESPAWN , AND THAT IN ITSELF CAN BE FRUSTRATING.. SO IN THIS GAME YOU HAVE TO ONCE AGAIN , SAVE THE WORLD FROM THE DEMON MENACE CALLED DEADITES.., AND YOU ARE ASSAULTED WITH WAVES OF THEM ,BASICALLY DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE GAME IS BASED ON THE '' STATE OF EMERGENCY '' GAMEPLAY .. BUT ALL THAT ASIDE , THIS IS A VERY COOL GAME! THE ONLY FLAW IS THE SHORTNESS OF IT , ONLY 6 LEVELS .THE GAME DEVELOPER SHOULD HAVE PUT IN AT LEAST 10 TO 12 LEVELS.MOST OF THE TASKS YOU UNDERTAKE ARE FAIRLY EASY , BUT THERE ARE LOADS OF DEADITES OUT TO STOP YOU AT EVERY TURN ! BUT WITH TIME AND PATIENCE YOU CAN PROGRESS THRU THE GAME , IF YOU DON'T WASTE YOUR MEDIKITS , AS SOME DEADITES DROP POWERUPS , AS WELL AS AMMO. PLUS ALL THE COOL WEAPONS YOU GET THROUGHOUT THE GAME , MOST OF WHICH YOU WILL NOT REALLY NEED .AS WELL AS COOL MAGIC SPELLS TO PERFORM TOO.AND ASH IS CONSTANTLY MAKING WISECRACKS , AS WELL AS SIGNATURE COMMENTS YOU CAN MAKE HIM SAY ACCORDING TO THE LEVEL YOU ARE CURRENTLY IN.. BUT THE ARCADE MODE MAKES UP FOR THE SHORTNESS OF THE GAME.. YOU HAVE VARIOUS TASKS TO COMPLETE IN A LIMITED AMOUNT OF TIME .AND THE WEAPONS YOU GET TO USE VARY IN RANGE ..SO PICK IT UP TODAY !AT [THIS PRICE] IT IS A STEAL AND WELL WORTH IT ! ALL '' HAIL TO THE KING '' ASH FROM HOUSEWARES !!

BOO YA!

bruce campbell, a chainsaw, decent price, what more do you need? the game is similar to state of emergency, but not as frustrating, hence, more enjoyable. tons of witty lines (the whole 'deep throat' bit cracked me up) and gore galore will assail the screen. the little animations throughout are neat. the game isn't anything new, but for this price it's a great buy. it's EVIL DEAD...the making of video is cool and best of all...Bruce Campbell.

Good... Bad... I'm the guy with the gun.
