FUN GAME!!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 6 / 9

I don't play a lot of video games, but I like the adventure ones like this. The underrated and highly enjoyable actor, Bruce Campbell, returns as Ash and voices his character in this game with his kick butt action and his witty, humorous remarks! You get a whole arsenal of weapons (you can use two at a time) including his infamous chainsaw, guns, sickles, dynamite, you name it... Kill thousands of demons as you go through a city in ruins from present day to even back to colonial times. I'm still playing it, but if you enjoyed the movies, you should probably enjoy the game. I did have to get help once I got inside the museum, but there are websites online to assist you for that (since there doesn't seem to be an official strategy guide). Anyways, if you like Resident Evil type stuff, get this.

I love it........

All I can say is the Bruce Campbell voice overs are worth the price. The graphics are ok....the story is fun but short. The way it links to the films is awesome, instead of using an old story line. But all in all the price can't be beat,I'm still trying to figure that one out. Add this to your collection if your an Evil Dead/Bruce Campbell fan like me. The guy at the store that I bought it from said he hoped it was good...cause of the price. I said I didn't care.....he said thats what everyone else said who bought one, lol......I got the last one.

Well worth [the price]

I had low to medium expectations for this title, considering how much fun the first Evil Dead game wasn't, and how shallow State of Emergency turned out to be. And yet, when I saw it on the shelf, I had to give it the benefit of the doubt, for Ash's sake. And I'm so glad I did. The story, unlike the last game, is new and well-written, and not a rehash of the movies. Ash acts and sounds like Ash, and Bruce Cambell is as funny as ever (take that how you will, depending on your assessment of Bruce). The combat, which is relentless, is splatter-filled fun, as it should be. You might get killed at first (like most magazine reviewers seem to be, hence the bratty reviews) but once you get in the groove it's more fun than it has a right to be for such a bargain price. Tons of unlockables, too - artwork and multiple "arcade mode" variations for each level in the story you complete. If you're a fan of the movies, slapstick carnage (remember Loaded?) or battlefield-zoneout games (Dynasty Warriors series) you should definitely give this a chance.

AFTER LOVING THE FIRST '' EVIL DEAD '' GAME I COULD HARDLY WAIT FOR THE NEW ONE TO COME OUT.. MOST PEOPLE DID NOT LIKE THE FIRST GAME , WHICH I THINK IS MAINLY DUE TO HOW HARD IT WAS . AFTER ALL-THE DEADITES CONTINUALLY RESPAWN , AND THAT IN ITSELF CAN BE FRUSTRATING.. SO IN THIS GAME YOU HAVE TO ONCE AGAIN , SAVE THE WORLD FROM THE DEMON MENACE CALLED DEADITES.., AND YOU ARE ASSAULTED WITH WAVES OF THEM ,BASICALLY DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE GAME IS BASED ON THE '' STATE OF EMERGENCY '' GAMEPLAY .. BUT ALL THAT ASIDE , THIS IS A VERY COOL GAME! THE ONLY FLAW IS THE SHORTNESS OF IT , ONLY 6 LEVELS .THE GAME DEVELOPER SHOULD HAVE PUT IN AT LEAST 10 TO 12 LEVELS.MOST OF THE TASKS YOU UNDERTAKE ARE FAIRLY EASY , BUT THERE ARE LOADS OF DEADITES OUT TO STOP YOU AT EVERY TURN ! BUT WITH TIME AND PATIENCE YOU CAN PROGRESS THRU THE GAME , IF YOU DON'T WASTE YOUR MEDIKITS , AS SOME DEADITES DROP POWERUPS , AS WELL AS AMMO. PLUS ALL THE COOL WEAPONS YOU GET THROUGHOUT THE GAME , MOST OF WHICH YOU WILL NOT REALLY NEED .AS WELL AS COOL MAGIC SPELLS TO PERFORM TOO.AND ASH IS CONSTANTLY MAKING WISECRACKS , AS WELL AS SIGNATURE COMMENTS YOU CAN MAKE HIM SAY ACCORDING TO THE LEVEL YOU ARE CURRENTLY IN.. BUT THE ARCADE MODE MAKES UP FOR THE SHORTNESS OF THE GAME.. YOU HAVE VARIOUS TASKS TO COMPLETE IN A LIMITED AMOUNT OF TIME .AND THE WEAPONS YOU GET TO USE VARY IN RANGE ..SO PICK IT UP TODAY !AT [THIS PRICE] IT IS A STEAL AND WELL WORTH IT ! ALL '' HAIL TO THE KING '' ASH FROM HOUSEWARES !!

Dumb name; class game

Its difficult to know how to start this review, as i imagine that you'll have to be an Evil Dead fan to really 'get' this game. If you buy this game as, say, a fan of the horror genre of gaming and with no knowledge of the movie series then you'll probably wind up disappointed.

On the other hand, if you are a fan of the movies then you'll more than likely be absolutely delighted in the latest attempt to bring the old movie classic to the console. Unlike its predecessor 'Hail To The King', this game presents VERY different, almost comic-like characters and settings which i was initially apprehensive about, but the game manages to pull it off. The deadites move in a very exaggerated way, their blood spills as if it was a cartoon, and the cops trying to deal with all hell being let loose are complete retards. But in the end, its all these factors that help the game along. It doesnt ever try to be something its not - a quick read about its 'explore in between killing the undead' nature might lead you to think it was a Resident Evil clone but after 2 minutes of play you'll see it for what it is. Its nothing groundbreaking and nothing original, but it certainly holds its own.

One thing i particularly enjoyed about this release - and an improvement on the previous game - was that the chainsaw no longer needs fuel to work. Once you find it - pretty early on in the game - you can slice and dice deadites 24/7, and you'll always have atleast 2 weapons at your disposal thanks to the excellent 'two handed' combat system. Aswell as the now trademark 'quip' button (and lets face it - this wouldnt be an Evil Dead game without the ability to make fun of your enemies), there are some trademark moves such as the trusty boomstick-over-the-shoulder move.

Unfortunatly the game does have some bad points. You'll constantly be surrounded by buildings and doors but you'll very rarely be able to go inside without blasting a hole in the wall or finding a keycard (just so you can go kill the billion deadites that are waiting for you inside). And the game has some flaws in the logic department, too. For example, on one level you have to get inside a building via a big glass door - and you can smash the glass yet you cant go through it unless you actually open the door with the key card, despite the fact theres a massive gaping hole you could easily step through. And also, i imagine Ash to be the type of guy who likes to keep clean - so why has he been wearing the same outfit for 3 movies and 2 video games? And, more to the point, why was it ripped in all the exact same places BEFORE he even goes into battle? And why hasnt he had a replacement hand yet? The producers seem determined to stick to the 'movie' ash in term of design but, considering the comical humour of the game, i guess it can be forgiven.

Overall, its tiny flaws aside, this is a game that any Evil Dead fan will love (despite what several website reviews might say) so long as you dont mind the 'serious horror' of the original movie being chucked out of the window for the slapstick style of its sequels. 5 stars.

Bruce Campbell stomping chomping fun

If you like the Evil Dead films then you will LOVE this game. If you are a fan of the man then you will be in heaven for the next couple of days. If you do not know who ASH is or what Evil Dead is then you are directed immediately to watch the films instead...

(1)The Evil Dead.
(2)Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn
(3)Army of Darkness (Evil Dead 3)

... once you have done that you are now in a better position to enjoy this game release which tries to be Evil Dead 4, but isn't really. The story is interesting (Ash must save a town from the deadites which have taken over) but the gameplay is only so-so entertainment (good 3D environment though) and there is nothing new here we have not seen before elsewhere, but like I said you must be a fan to give this one 5 stars or else it is just 3 star material. Basically you must run around town (kinda plays like State of Emergency with the bad guys running after ya), close otherworld portals, find items, hack up zombies with a chainsaw, blow them away with a shotgun (cool over-the-sholder moves and everything), defeat the end bosses and save the gal.

For all intensive purposes if you like the Evil Dead movies or want to BE Bruce Campbell for a few hours a day then this is EXACTLY what you have been looking for. Don't even continue this review and just get the darn thing. For all those lowlifes out there who do not know what ED is then GO FIND OUT and come back here later when you get what all the fuss is over.

I also recommended checking out his book "If Chins Could Kill".

If you are an Evil Dead fan just buy this game. With a [modest] price you get the campy horror, amusing one-liners and entertaining game play. Bruce Campbell is back as the voice of Ash, and he is obviously having fun with it. The game makers and Bruce put a lot of effort into pleasing the fans. This is just a fun game for Evil Dead fans and I couldnýt be any more pleased with my purchase

Evil Dead Fistful of Boomstick is one of the best games i have played in a long time. It is a perfect game for an older audience. It is probably one of the best voice over games. all you do is run around and slice up Deadites. I am a long Time fan of the movies. You owe it to yourself to pick up this game its great.

It's a FUN Evil Dead game. The controls are better than most zombie games, the voices are great, and it has a wonderful ending. It's somewhat short, but you can't argue with a good game with this price. Good... bad... I'm the guy with the game.
