Worth the wait!!!

This game is worth the wait! I know it seems to be taking a while, because they keep on delaying the release, but I know people of high standards, and i've played it. It doesn't matter how wmuch they delay it. It is about the most solid action adventure game out there. And those wanting to have a game that's a shooter, but still has a good story, this is perfect for for you. This game is awesome!! Also, another character is released (that you can play as) is Kurtis Trent. He's awesome too. I would seriously get this game, unless you have no taste. Lara Croft is back and ready for action!!

Let me start by saying I have everything tomb raider from all the games to a hat from the ride to a bobble head lara croft doll. Now setting the stage for where I'm coming from, what the hell happened?! New controls?? Game glitches so bad I had to restart from a new game TWICE due to getting trapped or "pinned" into an area that WASN'T supposed to function as a trap. The game is so disfunct that at one point I was climbing down a pole then suddenly started to levitate. The controls have taken over and walked me off an edge. I pushed every button to stop and nothing worked. It has locked up when I simply used a health pack. Some boards are so graphic intense that the frame rate dropped to about 3 per second...I though this was an effect like the matrix in slow mo, but it was just BAD DEVELOPMENT! Let me finish by saying I am now playing TR1 to try and get the love back.

Lara got a face lift!

Yep, Lara got a face lift. Or should I say the game got a face lift? In all of the other games you play a hard core loner gal on missions of collecting items of value. well, you do too in this game but just not as hard as before. Game play is really light in AOD. The player is told when they can do something in AOD but in the other games, the player is left to find things out on their own. For that this game is reaching a far wider public. It has elements of search and find in safety or in danger.
AOD uses interface icons to help the player along and dialoge to direct, but in the previous games Lara had to fail or just get lucky. Besides you had to be a very good game player to beat Tomb raider before. In AOD, you only need to have your wits about yourself. That is what makes this game so fun. Great graphics, good story and help by icons and dialoge. Sure the controls are hard for seasoned Tomb Raider fans but once the controls are mastered, the seasoned TR fan will say, "this is want I wanted to do in TR2 but fell to my doom."
All in all this is the best tomb raider because game play is as adventerous as before but also light work. The player can make it hard or easy. Good choice in a game.

A bit dissapointed

Having been a fan of Tomb Raider and Lara Croft since the first game hit the PS one, I could hardly wait to get my fingers on The Angel of Darkness. I bought the game the first day in the stores and was really looking forward to play.

And it's a good game. The Graphics are fantastic, the sound is great and the story is very well written. I kind of like the dialogue part of the game and fĂnds it quite interesting that you actually have to talk to other characters in the game. Thats a fine new feature in the game.

But there are dissapointments as well. First of all controlling Lara is difficult. You have to use to analog sticks and I have to admit that it's not always obvious which way you have to move the stick in order to move Lara either forward or backwards. Furthermore the movements of Lara are to slow and sometimes she seems to get her own will. The Camaras are almost impossible to control. Suddenly you find yourself looking at the ceiling at a time where you actually needs to examine the floor.

Its a pity that the game has these setbacks. I always thought Tomb Raider to be second to none, but after playing The Angel of Darkness I had to revise my opponion. I sincerely hope that EIDO will improve the controlling part of the game before they release the next game in the series. It's by all meens a must if Tomb Raider shall continue to be a serious candidate to the title best playing experience.

This game is HORRIBLE

Ok. There should be a negative 5 star rating just for this game. Graphically, the game doesn't look too bad at all, but the controls are so incredibly f!@#ed up, you can't even play the game. No, seriously, they're that bad. They should have kept their original controller setup, because you were essentially controlling a puppet. With this controller setup, you can't even turn around w/o a fair degree of difficulty. In the words of Mr. T, "I pity the fool that buys this game."

Better than the reviews

Okay, all the haters, did you even finish this game? If not, how could you judge it?

Fine, maybe its true that the controls are a little bit hard to handle but well, its the same controls in other popular games. Its the same controls that fans have gotten used to in Lara's previous outings. It just wouldn't be Tomb Raider without wonky controls.

Graphic wise, great. It may be not up to par with other games but its descent enough to be engrossing. Lara is more detailed and lethal with the new graphics engine. The enemies look more complex as well, including the amazing exotic locales.

The tomb raider series has always brought satisfying and beautiful stories and AOD delivered. I like this game. Its really challenging and finishing it is a really great feeling.
Maybe I'm biased cuz I love the Tomb Raider series ever since I got a Playstation years ago but you should give this game a chance. I know the developers did a great job but that greatness is something not seen in just the graphics or controls. Its in the overall.

great game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I own all of the TR games,(yeah 1-5) and I think AOD is gonna be the best of em' all! I love Lara because she's always stuck to Sony, never "nintendo", well I also love her cause she's hot! But she used to be a cute 16 yr old archiologist, and now since the movie she wears black and snaps policemans necks! OH well, that just makes her cooler!
