Back to the City

I must say i enjoyed going back to the city/mansion from where it all started, the original RE. It was great to see Rykers character finally appear after disappearing from RE1.

The graphics are great. Though, not as heart pounding as RE2, it is still worth the money.

If you are good enough, you get to see the TRUE side of Clair Redfield. Is she really the master mind that created all this mayhem? Play and get a score no lower than a (B)and you wil soon find out.

Disappointed in capcom for excluding PS2 from RE0. for that, i give a score of 1/2 star.

What is wrong with you people???????

This game is so awesome, the graphics are good and there is nothing wrong with the controls, Stop complaining if you cant beat the game that doesn't mean its not good. Im not a big fan of Final Fantasy, I hate RPG's I think they bad but I still played and beat it. So quit your crying, and next time rent the game befroe you buy it that way you'll have nothing to lose. Would you rather lose $5.00 renting it and finding out its not good. Or $20.00 to find out its not good, your choice, just quit crying its to hard.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!!

My husband and I were really looking forward to playing this game and so rented it from the local video store. We were blown away by how awful this game is. We didn't even feel it was worth it to finish it and so returned it before seeing the end. The controls are some of the worst I've seen. I had an easier time with the original Mario Bros. The voice-overs were terrible, the storyline is predictable and almost identical to every other survival horror game. The game ceases to be scarey because boredom and frustration set in. You are constantly running out of ammo, out of health (if you can even find anything in the poor lighting), and out of patience. The game will keep you constantly running from one building to another to fit the pieces of the puzzle together. This is the sign of a game made without the designer using any creativity or intelligence. I don't know what Capcom was thinking, this is absolutely terrible. I wouldn't recommend this tripe to anyone.

Some problems but that's Resident Evil for ya

I'm very glad this game made it to PS2, and from what I know now it will be the only Resident Evil game on the system for a while *nintendo is now in charge of RE* but at least it's a good game. The story is good and well thought out, the characters are colorful and entertaining, and the game is pased pretty good. Although as with all RE games there are problems. One is those blasted camera angels, granted the camera moves with you now, but there are still those moments of blindness, where you will get nailed with out seeing your attacker. THat's to bad since your characters are pretty weak and tend to get hurt easily, better stock up on herbs, mix the red and green, you'll be glad you did. More points get knocked off for the control, but if you are used to the RE layout you will have no trouble. If only they would have tweaked it just a little, maybe add in the dodge move that was in RE3, I really missed that! All in all the control wasn't much of a problem. Another problem is with back tracking, if you don't know what you are doing, you will find yourself going back and forth over and over. And lastly the graphics are very outdated, the textures are actually better on the Dreamcast version, except the PS2 has a few enhancements, though you won't notice them much, mostly to do with colors, and a the characters look a bit better. Seems like a lot wrong? Why a Five Star rating? Because you easily look past those problems. Though, when you finish the game you will nit pick. But this is one great game, it really advances the story, much more then RE3(but I still miss the dodge) and it's by far the longest Resident Evil so far. And as always the enemies are really cool(though not as scary as they once were)and there are some nice weapons to be found, but save that ammo, starting over can be a pain! If you are a fan then buy it for sure, it may be your only one.
Plus you get the Devil May Cry demo which is a gem! You'll want to check that game out.

From a first time player.

This was my first time playing a Resident Evil game... and I wasn't quite expecting it to be this bad.

A friend of mine has been a RE fan for quite a while... he's informed me that part of the fun of RE is the terrible voice acting, campy storyline, and lack of intelligent gameplay... While it gives him joy, it makes me want to tear my hair out.

The first thing I noticed upon play, is the terrible control. I guess I've been spoiled by games like Metal Gear Solid, but this is something that will draw tears from your eyes. I'm not sure the developers actually played their game before they released it.

Then there's the whole thing of pressing a button to go up stairs, and cheesy little animations for opening doors and going up and down long staircases. All it does is attempt to add length.

There are a few pros to it... They're what made me buy the game (And now I've learned, Rent first).

1) The FMVs are beautiful, even if there is the random gasping and terrible voice acting.
2) Devil May Cry demo.

Those were the only two selling points I could find... I'm sorry, I guess I didn't turn out to be a RE fan.

Resident Evil at it's finest!

My opinion = RESIDENT EVIL CODE: VERONICA X IS THE BEST GAME ON PS2!!! This game feature the classic RE storyline,(evil corporation trying to take over the world...) and the same gameplay. The way you move is a little difficult at first, but you get used to it after playing the first 3 RE games. My advice to RE rookies: play the first two games before this one. I recomend the Gamecube remake of RE1, although I haven't played it through all the way yet. It will make the plot much understandable and entertaining. I can't stress how good this game is in only 1,000 words (the # of words I have to type this review), but I will try. This game has eveything a Resident Evil fan could want: typical RE blood and guts, a wide variety of weapons, action, rommance, suspense, and plot twists galore! The only difference between REC:VX and the Dreamcast game is that this game has SEVEN MINUTES OF BRAND SPANKING NEW CUT SCENES! I won't spoil them though. And of course, the number one thriller of the game: (drumroll please) WESKER IS BACK AND BADDER THAN EVER! Play the game for yourself, I promise you won't be disappointed. Long live Albert Wesker!

One of the better games

Resident Evil Code: Veronica is by far my favorite Resident Evil game.It includes 3 charecters from past games:Chris Redfeild,a STARS member, his sister, Claire Redfield, who escaped from the RCPD saving Sherry Birkin, daughter of the G-virus creator, and Albert Wesker,ex-captain of STARS alpha team and betrayed the STARS team and unleashed a Tyrant on the STARS team during he Spencer mansion incident. Some new charecters you are intoduced to Alfred Ashford and Alexia Ashford who are the twins of Alexander Ashford, Alexia was a genius, she found an interest in ants, specifically, the queen ant, she mixed a special virus in the queen with the T-Virus and created the T-Veronica virus, she then injected it in their father and the twins had to chain him to a wall becuase the virus acted too quickly.Later, Alexia injected herself with it and emerged herself into a comatose form for approx. 15 years. Her brother woke her up in Antartica, because he was dying.Alexia woke up and soon found Wesker wanting her virus, which was in her, she attacked and he was amazed by the power which she held.In the end she is killed.Another charecter you are unfamiliar with is Steve Burnside, he and his family were taken to the island, eventually Alexia injects him with the virus, turning him into a Tyrant and forcing Claire to kill him.Overall, this game is exciting and keeps you at the edge of your seat as does any survival horror game.

Never play it ever again!

It has great sound, graphics, and I must say the zombies are pretty stupid(but then again they always have been). The bad thing about this game is that, the puzzles oh the puzzles, they're so confusing. I've beat all of the Resident Evil games on PS1 and PS2 up to this one, and they are all challenging, but not as hard as this one. I got like thirty minutes into the game and then I had to get some metal out of a metal detector room, in real life I'd just toss it across, but NO! I have to do it a certain way, I'm sorry but I was once a master at these games but I no longer am.

More of the same... lackluster game

Graphically, this game is excellent. The premise is similar to that of other Resident Evil games (nasty virus unleased on the city, evil zombies want to eat you, etc). Gameplay is absolutely and boringly identical to other RE games, and indeed every game of this genre Capcom makes. How long does Capcom think people want to watch cutscenes and static environments ? A gamer might think that a successful franchise may want to tweak problems or attempt to improve upon to gameplay in order to stay interesting, but in this case, No. It's a visually stunning, although very boring MOVIE-game with no real replayability. Spend your money elsewhere this time.

The best survivor horror game for PS2!!
