I bought this game, hoping to finally find a game that could scare. I will admit it is graphically beautiful and moody. Obviously a lot of work and thought went into the game. However, when it all boils down, it was basically a bore. Very guided, simplistic puzzles and by far not frightening.

I waited and waited and waited for the release of this game, I loved the first Silent Hill and after reading review after review of how wonderful two was I knew I would be in for some fun. Got to the store, the guy couldnt tell me enough about how scary and how great the game was. Turn off the lights pump up the sound and enjoy.
I got home, I turned off the lights, I pumped up the sound..........I was bored after five minutes. Its the same game but not anywhere near as hard. The monsters are easy, the atmosphere yeah not bad, graphics OK but to tell the truth I've played it twice since I have had it. The puzzles annoy me, as always you need the guide book to figure out where to go and by that time you are bored just reading and moving to a certain place pick up an item and back again to the same old scenes. I didnt find it scary, gross in places, mr vomit is something I could do without!!! But on the whole, disappointing. Maybe I will give it another go but so far not the silent hill I was expecting by far. As for scary, I must be really tough or something as nothing made me jump or scared in it at all. Oh well now to buy Devil May Cry.

Being a sequal to one of the best games I have ever played, Silent Hill 2 came short in many areas. First off the plot was rather dull and I was never really scared that much. If you liked the first one then I would NOT rent or buy the second. To be on the good side, the graphics were amazing. But then the voice acting was horrible. So, I guess it depends on what you like.

Sorry for the cheesy title, but that's honestly not a lie. This game is amazing. Luckily, my dad just purchased a rather large TV screen and stereo speakers so I couldn't wait to get my hands on this game. He's teaching a student right now and I can't wait to get my hands back on it. It's amazing. The graphics don't fail one bit. It's often hard to tell the difference between CG and in game because it's so well directed. The sound effects are off the charts! I wonder where they get these sound effects and why they're so creepy, but they get the job done. The sound itself gets under your skin. My first acquaintance with the "straight-jacket made out of skin" guy wasn't a great one because it was out in the fog, the true detail comes out when you're inside. When you see the bad guy creeping down the hall as the radio slowly gets louder and more intense, it fills you with a sense of dread. It's movements are so fluid, yeah so inhuman. Then after striking him down and feeling a sense of relief, it starts squirming along the ground as your flashlight is barely able to keep up with it. Hearing it's little clicks, but not being able to see it, the radio crackling becoming more intense, it all makes for one hell of an experience. Not to mention the characters themselves you meet are the most bizarre disturbed people I've ever met. But they've got personality, and every time you meet them, their story gets deeper and more disturbing. After playing the game I feel like I need to take a shower and change clothes, I feel layered. Nothing works though. This game truly does get under your skin. I highly recommend it for those who want a truly thrilling experience. ENJOY!

Good game by the folks at Konami. However, I did feel that many times, running from place to place became very excessive and boring. Nice psychological thriller. However, the fact that so many of these games are up for sale used demonstrates that most people don't care to play it through again to see the alternate endings.

A nightmare I will never forget.

I mean damn this game is so tight, i have to get this game if i have to beg, borrow, or ... to get this game. I love scary games that make you want to play then all day and night because you get caught up in the supense. This game makes resident evil look like a childrens game.

i went out yesterday and bought this game cause i loved the first one. i played for 2 hours and was amazed by the graphics. the fog in the game is much better than the first one. the town of silent hill looks just a bit different(anyone notice that?). i highly recommend this game to anyone who loves strategy games. resident evil: code veronica x is a must have too!

Got the game on Saturday evening, and haven't been able to do anything else since. This game is SO creepy. Play with the lights off! :-)
