Most Booooring Game Ever!

1 Rating: 1, Useful: 3 / 13

This is one of the worst games I've ever played. Sure, graphics and sound f/x are awesome, but gameplay is boring and even desperate at times. If you like wasting your time getting lost over and over searching for items and locations this is the game for you, otherwise just borrow it from a friend and see for yourself how bad it is.

A BIG let down!

I could not wait to get this game and started playing it as soon as it arrived. I thought I was going to love it since it involved puzzles and had a horror story quality. I was so disappointed. The story line had so much potential. The character was hard to control and the game was set up so that it dictated you're movement. It took me quite awhile to actually get into the game. Finally it stated to get really interesting then it ended only to leave me very angry. I was very upset with the ending!! I have heard that you can get different endings under different settings, but the idea of having to sit through all that again does not interest me at all! I would reccomend renting this game, NOT buying it.

BEST SURVIVAL-HORROR GAME EVER!!

Silent Hill has become something of a cult sensation over the last few years and This game, in addition to being conisered by many to be the best of the series, has added tremendously to the mythos.
Our story starts at a Bathroom shed in the woods outside of the town, and our protaganist, James Sunderland is staring at himself in a mirror. Aparently, he has recieved a letter from his wife Mary saying tht she is in there 'special place'(a hotel room) in Silent Hill. The problem is that James' wife past away three years prior to him recieving the letter. As he enters S.H. he quickly relizes that the town has been 'distorted' by something unknown. As he searches the town for clues, he runs into a women named Maria who in addition to being aloof to the situation of the town, seems to be a dead ringer for his wife. As James continues his search for his wife, He learns about the history of the town and what might have happend to his wife.
Silent Hill 2 is my personal favorite out of the series(so far). It combines elements of gore, psychological fear, disturbing imagery in general, and a haunting children's score. Visually, the game has a dark gritty look about it that adds a certain creepiness, and thank god for a flashlight. The story is about painfull repressed memories and how a person's actions effect others. One thing about Pt.2 is that it strays away from the 'cult' storyline that all the other games share, and it also serves as a reference point for the 4th game.
There is also a bonus 'game' that explains(to an extent) Maria's story, but It is recomended that the main game be played first. AS with all S.H. games; there are different dificulty settings as well as puzzles settings. There are also numerous different endings(like all the games). Depending on what difficulty settings you choose, As well as your actions in the game, will determine the outcome. In addition to the different endings, upon replaying added weapons(like a chainsaw!!) are available.
Silent Hill 2 is a dark disturbing venture into one man's pain and torment, and after just a few minutes of playing, one will forget that this is a video game as they are caught up in the nightmare.
A MUST HAVE!!

AFTER I SURVIVED THE FIRST '' SILENT HILL '' , I KNEW I HAD TO GET THE SEQUEL ON PS 2 ! AND I WAS BLOWN AWAY AT HOW CREEPY AND EERIE IT WAS . THE ENEMIES ARE A BIT HARDER , BUT AFTER AWHILE YOU GET THE HANG OF HOW TO DISPATCH THEM QUICKLY . THE STORY IS COOL AND YOU CAN GET 5 DIFFERENT ENDINGS DEPENDING ON WHAT YOU DO IN THE GAME.YOU PLAY AS JAMES SUNDERLAND WHO GOES BACK TO SILENT HILL AFTER HE GETS A LETTER FROM HIS DEAD WIFE.YOU CAN USE A PLANK TO SMASH ENEMIES OVER THE HEAD , OR A GUN , RIFLE , OR SHOTGUN.WHEN SURROUNDED BY THE NASTIES , IT IS BETTER TO TAKE THEM OUT WITH YOUR GUN . YOU'LL GET PLENTY OF AMMO IN YOUR TREK THROUGH SILENT HILL .AND YOU CAN EVEN CHANGE THE COLOR OF THE BLOOD TOO !HOW COOL IS THAT !THE GAMEPLAY IS NOT HARD TO MASTER AND YOU CAN NEVER GET BORED . BUT YOU CAN GET LOST, SO USE YOUR MAP AND BUY A GUIDE TOO. SO TURN OFF THE LIGHTS AND GET READY TO BE SCARED OUT OF YOUR SKIN!!AND LOOK OUT FOR THE THIRD ONE DUE THIS WINTER ..

Interesting Sequel

I still have to say the Origianl Silent Hill was more engrossing than this one. The plot in the first game was highly complex, but every character you meet ties in with the main story somwhat, and it's apparent that they do so within several playthroughs. This is not to say that game runs out of steam, since more appreication comes with every subsequent game play. Silent Hill 2, on the other hand, did not do so with it's characters. You wonder a bit why you meet some of the character, as their story almost has nothing to do with James Sunderland (the main character)'s quest. There could be an argument for some moral reason why James meets Eddie, the edgy out of towner who seems to get trapped in bad situations every time they meet, or Angela, the girl who needs help that James probably cannot provide. What I'm saying is that you shouldn't have to work so hard to get a game to be enjoyable. (Especially if you paid fifty dollars for the right to do so.) I found the story--though tragic--fall flat by the games end. In all fairness, I should say that it falls flat in comparision to my expectations since it is the sequel to probably the best PS1 survivial horror storyline. The story did not tie together at the end, and the fact that the main character seems to have conviently forgotten an important detail about what happened to his wife until the last 10 minutes of gameplay is almost annoying. His reaction to certain key events is inconsistant with this "forgotten" detail and leaves you wondering "What is WRONG with you James?!" There were not enough details that directly tied to the story, and too much not tying into anything during the first three game plays. A good game should give you a good experience the first, and everytime you play, not just after you beat every ending and it's the 10th time you've played.

Controls were good with this game. There were no big weapons to be found anywhere, but that is a little more realistic since James is a civilian. That is not to say that the weapons are boring. Several weapons are fun to play with, but presents differnt challaneges to the user to make it interesting, expeically the Great Knife. You can customize the level of difficulty of the action as well as the puzzles, so you can choose to play a cerebrial game, or a survivial game.

The graphics are a great improvment over the second game. The more smooth movies are in corporated right in with game play screens, but the loading time between the two are a bit annoying, and breaks up the story a bit.

The music is top knotch, creating the perfect mood for the game, and actually corrosponds with action. If some nurse is waiting for you around the corner, you near the music rising... like the hair in the back of your neck.

The music could not overcome the other qualms I have with this game, and I did not feel the game "get under my skin" so to speak. Overall it's recommended :) I wish they did a lot more with this, since I expected so much more.

The scariest game ever!

This is probably going to be the scariest game that u will ever play in your ife time. This game will keep u on the edge of ur seat every time u play it. I would really recomend u to get this game. It has intense blood and gore, creapy letters from the main charecters dead wife, a foggy atmoshere threw out the game. What else can u ask for. This game will scare u more then hanable did. This game is a must have. They put a lot of effort in making this game and it really shows. Another thing is for the creapy town that the game takes place the chicks arnt that bad lol. Anyway enjoy thats all i could say.

Good graphics/scenery but too many scenes make no sense

I agree the ambience is eerie but that the fog is so thick it becomes very annoying. My main complaint is the scenes that leave me saying "what the (...) was that all about?" Like when you are being chased my 2 "metalheads," and after ricocheting bullets off their masks for three years, they all of a sudden stick their own spears in their throats and continue standing even though they are dead. In order to get through the door after this, you take eggs out of their hands, yes EGGS, and stick them in the door. (spoiler) At the end it says "Some mysteries have been solved and some remain..." I'm not waiting for all mysteries to be solved, but maybe these scenes could be reconfigured to make more sense than an LSD trip.

Starts off kinda lame, but stick with it.

When I first started playing this game( after about 10 minites or so) I thought is was boring and mellow.
Then the game takes a turn and soon your battling Alien-Demon like creaters. You beat them to death with a pipe. In return they throw-up on you before they go down. If you don't step on them right away they will crawl away in a spider like fashion. The objective of Silent Hill 2 on the other hand is to find a missing woman who is supposed to be dead and rotten away. The chilling combo of weird nosies, Great graphices, and those Alien-demon things is what makes Silent Hill 2 one of the most exiticing games I have ever played. Horror and Scince Fiction fans should buy this.

Games out of Japan are getting more and more weird, much like the rest of their culture. I remember the days when Konami games used to be pure fun, but nowadays it's making adventure/action games that are boring to play and difficult to understand. Silent Hill 2 is one of them. It's not as scary as some claim it to be, and definitely not very creative and is quite easy to beat (even without any cheats). Its only good feature is the graphic ambience. Maybe worthy as a rental title...
