dont be fooled. it may be called tisted metal but it is almost entirely different. almost all new characters. Calypso is not the sames as from 1 - 4. he's an old bald dude with a warped face that doesnt talk in the game and kills at least one person with a gun. all the competors come from a prison as well. if you liked the orginal series especially twisted metal 3 stay away from this one. the levels suck too.

Twisted Metal Black is the best in the series by far. The graphics are grade A and the game keeps you busy for hours on end. I loved the charactors (they freaked me out to be honest) and the cars look superb! Buy this game and you wont leave your PS2 until bedtime. The controls are so easy to pick up on and you just want to keep playing!

TMB ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!

Twisted Metal is back, and better than ever!

It's great to see that the Twisted Metal franchise is back on top of the car-battle genre. Things got shook up when 989 Studios took control, but since the original creators are back in business, it has made up for the failure that 989 Studios created. Twisted Metal Black is not anything like the originals, so don't expect the same friendly fun that once was. Twisted Metal Black is exactly what the title says. The backgrounds are dark and mysterious, and each character's story is unique and darker. So, this is a warning to those below the age of 17, Twisted Metal Black may not be in your league. It once was, but not anymore. There is lots of blood, disturbing cut scenes, and more violence than you could ever think of. Twisted Metal has taken a turn to the darkside, which has turned out to be a turn for the best.

You said that Twisted Metal Online is coming out so don't buy black. Just to inform you TMO is going to be an expansion pack (you put in the TMO disk take it out then put in your TMB disk or if they choose it might be the other way around) You can't just buy the TMO disk and play with it. Personally I will get TMB on the first day but i will wait to see what the online disk prices at. I could deal with <15 but i dont wana think i payed 70 bucks for a game. Hopefully they have an extra mode or two that is given with the online disk.

Hopefully a return to glory

I hope this game gets the Twisted Metal franchise back in the spotlight, 989 studios almost put an end to this game, TM3 was horrendous & TW4 tried in vain to make up for it, Now that the original company is back at the helm this should be a kick ... game, & I'm glad to see that Darkside is finally back, & So what if Twisted Metal Online is coming out, Why should'nt people buy this game, I'll buy both of them.

*clears throat* I would like to say that after the twisted metal franchise was handed to 989 studios it has been crap! The best TW up to now used to be 2. TWIV was the last turd in the punchbowl. Finally the creators of 1 and 2 have come back. The game is evil. It is intense. It is the bomb! I have to say the moves are awesome everybody is ragging Sweet tooth's is cool. LOOK AT THE PREACHER'S! The game is a work of art. I would like to congradulate the TW team and suggest you get this game.

A whole lot of fun. Be sure to enter the "God code" by holding down all the triggers and then presssing circle square circle triangle to attain invincibility and all the weapons.
Much fun.
Great cinemas.

Does anyone else remember the sinking feeling of playing TM3 the first time? After endless hours of fun with friends on TM2, I was sickened to see this neutered version of what should be a beautifully clunky and violent game. I have researched TM:B in great detail and being that the TM1/TM2 team is back under a new name (previously Singletrac, now Incognito) I can GUARANTEE that this is a five of five game. Epic sized levels, extreme detail in every element of the game, a new frightening premise - it all leads the creation of brilliance. I have preordered.

Who ever out there said to forget TMB and get TMO is stupid!

First off this is my second review for TMB and I must say that TMB is the BEST car-combat game ever! I haven't gotten it yet but after seeing all the reviews for TMB,it should be the best car-combat game for the PS2. For starters, TMB is more than the best car-combat game around no,no,no it has 3 things to recognize in this game. Graphics, Story plot, and Gameplay. First the graphics. The graphics in TMB give it the realness that this game(and every other game)needs to be a real succsess. It's graphics actually (to me)redefine the word reality. The way how you can interact with the backgrounds is unbelivable. The second thing is the story plot. The story plot in TMB is really cool. as you go on in the story mode with your character you learn more and more about him or her. Its really creepy. And last but not least the gameplay. The gameplay in TMB is really fun and exciting. For one thing you can interact with the background for either your protection or your destruction. Its really fun. So now you see why TMB is the best(and will always be the best)and coolest car-combat game around. Oh, and for the guy who said to forget TMB and get TMO is very very stupid!

Worse Game Ever

Just when I though I have seen the worst video game, someone else comes out with one that is even worse. That is the case with Twisted Metal Black. This game can be summed up in one word, laziness. The Playstation 2 is a powerful platform yet the developers of TWB were too lazy to use the full potential of the PS2. All the graphics are dark and consist of only 3 colors, black, gray, and yellow. If the game took place in daylight, the developers would have to deal with shadows, shading, and textures. Instead they took the lazy way out and made the game take place at night so that they didn't have to worry about shading, shadows, or textures. Go outside in the middle of the night and you will get the idea. You can't see shadows, colors, shading, or texture. The game is so dark (even with the brightness turned up all the way) that I got a headache and eye strain after playing it for only 15 minutes. It looks like the PS2 will flop because developers will be too lazy to program for it. I regret buy the PS2 and am going to buy the obsolete Dreamcast. At least there are games for Dreamcast with decent color and graphics.
