Excellent!

Twisted Metal Black has to be the best of this series (so far). The graphics are excellent, the gameplay is awesome (never the same twice) and the boards make this game very challenging. Honestly, you can't get bored playing this game.

I will admit unless you change the controls, they can be a little [hard] at first but after you get the hang of the default settings, it's not so bad.

Really this is a must get if you don't have it. I wouldn't call this a racing game. I would consider this more of a Fighting game almost because that's truly the aspect of the game. Again, get this one. Happy gaming!

One of my favorite PS2 games

This is a great game.Way better than the other twisted metals.Awsome graphics, sound, and plot.Sweet tooth is so much better here, same with other old characters, such as mr.grimm and minion. This game also brings along many new characters.Unlike the other easy twisted metals, this one gives alot of challenge, especially on hard. Here, you also get to choose what arena you want to play in when available. Also, this gives character background and why they are in the game. Then once you unlock the movies, you can keep them instead of having to beat the game all over again. There is also little enjoyments, like the little people running around. When you see those little people, you can shoot them or run them over. Also, when you kill an enemy, and when you see them as a little person on fire, you can also, run them over or shoot them.In case you like to use the machine guns, like me,there are upgrades for them, although they are temporary. If you get your machine gun strong enough, you can kill someone in a few seconds with simply a machine gun.Even though Calypso looks retarted and stupider than he did in the classic twisted metals(with long hair and an evil face)with a gut,a scratched up eye,and a big blue eye,his graphics are great.Unfortunatly, you cant use him.You can use characters like Darkside:a girl who drives a giant truck that as a special rams into people in a high speed,Outlaw:an ex-swat that drives a swat van and as his special he fires the 50 caliber turret mounted on his van,and Roadkill:a john doe that drives a little armored car that fires missles a a special. This is easily one of the greatest PS2 games ever.Buy it right away.

The best Twisted Metal game yet!!!!!!

My title says it, this is the best Twisted Metal game yet; and yes, it is even better than Twisted Metal 2. The title of the game is also very accurate because this game is very dark and twisted, it is definately not a game for the children for all of you parents out there. Besides for the beautiful graphics, wonderful gameplay, and for the fact that it's just another Twisted Metal this game is well worth the price for its movies alone. Each character has a story of why they want to win the Twisted Metal tournament and claim a prize from Calypso, the founder of the tournament. Each characters story is wonderfully developed and it draws you in as your playing so that you don't want to put the controller down because you have to see how the story ends. The stories are also what really gives this game its mature rating and its dark undertone, I don't want to give anything away but I'll tell you that the stories have material such as blood, cuss words, canabalism, murder, and of course the occasional shootings or cutting of throuts with knifes. Like I said before, this one isn't for the children. Anyways, if your already a Twisted Metal fan and you don't have this game then what are you waiting for, if your not a Twisted Metal fan but enjoy games with wonderful graphics, great action, a great storyline, and violence, then this is the game for you.

Best in the series, but. . .

Don't get me wrong, TM: B is a fun game, but only for a while. Nothing noteworthy has really been added to make it different from others in the series, and I got bored of it after about a month. The graphics are excellent, and the gameplay is very good, but the replay value is poor. I think they should've just waited and put out only the online version. That way, it would've added some depth to the series, and they wouldn't have isolated people like me (who bought this version) from buying it.

What's the point?

The idea behind the game was pretty cool, car combat done with superb graphics etc.. But what I found in this game was a sense of gloom every time I loaded it up. You may think I sound crazy but if you're a parent, you may seriously want to consider passing on this game, there's not one ounce of positivity or kid friendly gameplay in it. I can't understand why they'd put such a depressing backstory in this game, maybe if they'd ended on an upnote with at least one character... but every character gets tricked, and then ultimately killed off in the end. It just really bothered me and therefore I can't recommend this game, not even to adults.

This...Means...Trouble. Here we go again with TM5 for the PS2. Do you feel that after TM2 the whole saga of TM games had gone to pot? So did I. Back again with some of our favorite characters like....um, I don't know, Sweet Tooth, Outlaw, Darkside etc. Except, they got a MAJOR make over. Like on TM1, there will be pedestrians, and yes they will be fair game. Also new contestants, each with a different and engrossing story line. Sweet Tooth again is back and with a major makeover. And just so you know this clown ain't funny, and he ain't about to spread joy. Rememeber be safe buckle-up. As if that's going to help you.....

Not that fun and too violent.

I am a fan of the Twisted Metal series, but this game is the worst. There is too much going on in each level and because of this and the fact that the cars are very difficult to control, it makes it very difficult to find your way around. The level of gross violence in this game also disturbs me. I would advise all parents to use extreme caution before buying this game for your children (but preferably don't buy it at all). For example, one of the car's special weapons is a live person who is chained up in the back of the car and is lauched onto enemy cars and then explodes. Many of the storylines of the characters are also very scary and violent.

Doesn't touch Twisted Metal 2

This is a really diappointing game. I was anticipating this for a long time but this game [is disappointing]. One thing I [didn't like] from the beginning is the blistering Unreal Tournament-like pace. They should of included a speed adjustment option. The computer will be firing 1000 missles in seconds. Nevermined the fact that the regular missles follow you around like homing missles. It's harder to turn correctly. Some people like it, but it doesn't work for me. In TW: 2 that extra time allowed you to do some things that you can't do with 60 fps. speed. The next thing is - the computer cheats. They go around with what it seems like unlimited weapons, sometimes ignoring other cars and coming straight towards you and letting out all of there aggresion. That's a major flaw and it hurts the fun of the game a lot. I can't tolerate games like that Because no matter how good you'll get, you will still lose on the first level. You can die way too fast. That is not a good balance. The weapons blend in with the environment and are as convienent as TW2. Most of the new ones are cumbersome. You'll never get in a clasic do or die fair firefight like in the first two games. You'll never be able to win with 3% health with 5 cars to go like the first two. Too many elements were sacrficed. The other major qualm is - the game is WAY TOO DARK. I don't care about content or anything like that, but this is the first time where I feel a game has gone too far. Not the gore blahblah..etc/it's the fact that it interferes with gameplay and shortens the games replay value greatly in my eyes. No one wants to sit around and play a car-combat/horror game. I'm all for games like RE, but this is a car combat game. I didn't buy this to be scared. All the packaging and stuff is so unnessary. It does nothing but detract from the game. Imagine playing Crash Team Racing in a setting like this, it just isn't fun. If you want to make it a horror game, there are so many more elements possible than what is presented here. I don't see faces on the ground sucking me up, so what's the point. You have to have an evil carnavel with real ghouls and possesed cars and crazy stuff like that. TW2 had the perfect combination of this. You had the dark story and characters, but the levels were somewhat "upbeat" and playable. At least you had some humor involved. This game takes itself way to seriously. They should of spent time using the PS2 to revolutionize the genre and making innovations, instead of focusing on how hard and nasty they can make rain fall. They forgot to make the game fun. It would be cool to go down less graphically intense enviornments for some better action and level interaction. I despise the music because there isn't anything that I like. You get really sick of the game because you don't get anything good for beating it. And what happened to CREATE-A-CAR and the LEVER EDITOR. Those modes along with more thought out multiplayer modes and features would of made this last a lot longer. Even stuff like replays, or things that highlight your best shots, slide shows, mini-games, stuff like that should be made for the next-gen PS2. In the end, this is a wasted oppurtunity.

When you can drive around crushing cars with a car that you see a body trapped in plastic twitching around in the backseat with you just dont say no. This game is freaky(Kids should not get their hands on this game)and cool. Its techincally and playability is perfect so I recommend this games to all which are old enough and dont get shocked easily.
