Graphics don't make a game

2 Rating: 2, Useful: 3 / 5

Star Fox Adventures will attract many gamers. The graphics are phenomenal- some of the best I've ever seen, just shy of Resident Evil. The fur on Fox looks incredible. The backgrounds are great. But graphics don't mean squat if the game is an absolute bore to play, and no other game illustrates this point more fittingly than this one.

Most of the game consists of you going from point A to point B to fetch an item, then back to point A to open up another path. What's your reward? You get to play more fetch games and fight uninspiring battles (all you have to do is repeatedly jam the A button to win these with ease). There are some cool parts where you get to fly your Arwing, but these typically last less than a minute and serve no purpose in the grand scheme of things: fly through a certain number of rings, and the level is over. The gameplay is a chore.

With a game like this, it's no wonder Nintendo let go of Rare. If you're into great visuals and nothing else, then this is the game for you. For those of you who would rather play something enjoyable with some lasting replay value, stay far far away from this utter disappointment of a game.

BUY IT FOR THE HOLIDAYS!

In this game you are star fox . Star fox have some friends and a gun. The friend name is Slippy. So in the first level you start out real good, and the yellow button make you run. My friend told me a secret.

IT'S NOT EVEN CLOSE TO LEGEND OF ZELDA

People say this game is alot like legend of zelda but its barley like it the only way its like it is that you can roll cant jump and you sometimes you have to shoot your flame blaster throgh the flame at the right color to advance and and after you vist a area there is no reason to come back and another thing is that there is only two real bosses the others are just on the jet bike which is fun but easy and there is not very many puzzle thinking and at the end after you beat the final boss you cant do anything else you have to erase your file to do to do anything i would have gave it five stars if there were things to do after the game like side quests but if i were you id stick with starfox 64 its much more fun.

Rather dissapointing

Well, there's really not much to say about this game. I loved the first two Star Fox games, but this is, at best, mediocre.

First off, the whole Dinosaur Planet thing was nonsense. Of course, the games have always been a bit cheesy (a fighter pilot fox?) but this takes the cake.

But the most obvious problem is the fact that, as someone stated before, it tries to be Zelda... but it isn't.

Let's leave the platforming to Link, and keep Star Fox doing what he does best... flying around and shooting things. Now that's fun!

THIS GAME ROCKS (Not as much as Metroid Prime, though)

I have one thing to say, if you hate Star Fox, you are crazy or something. I respect the old Star Fox games, but, I think nothing of this as "Zelda". "Zelda" is a great game, no doubt, but, I do see something in common with the control scheme. But come on! I mean, if you hate Zelda, that will never impact your gameplay experience on this game. If I were you, I'd buy this game. It is not an RPG, it is not action (though it may have some elements of it), it is a straight-forward ADVENTURE. I am serious about my video games, and just to inform you, it was Rare LTD. that made this game *sigh, Microsoft bought them over*. This is a brilliantly laid out game with awesome gameplay, graphics and an original soundtrack. People, just because some people 'claim' that this is a horrible game, it is not. I mean, I read the review on GAMESPOT.COM, I played this game along with others, and the reviews have let me down once (on Animal Crossing). I think you should play this game, no matter what people say!!! *Peace Out*

Star Fox Rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This game is awsome!!!!It may not be for begginers, but I would recomend this for 8 and over. Fox Mc Cloud has another mission again! You start of as a girl named Krystal. She finds out that Genaral Scales is trying to blast apart the Dinosaur Planet. Then you have return Krazoa Spirits and spell stones. The first Krazoa Spirit you will return is with Krystal. She gets caught in a trap and is imprisoned in a crystal chamber. When the Star Fox team finds out about these mishaps, the send Fox (or Fox Mc Cloud) to Dinosaur Planet to put the planet back together. Each time you fly to the main piece of the planet or any of the pieces broken off, you get to fly in your Arwing (space ship). When you arrive at Dinosaur Planet youwill speak to the Genaral.(not genaral scales) He will not let you use the laser blaster "you are not here to destroy the planet, you are here to save it!" You will find Krystal's staff, and use that as your wepon. You get a dinosaur sidekick named Tricky, but you have to complete 4 or 5 tasks to keep him as your sidekick. It takes a lot of skill patience, and thinking, but all you should think about is the fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

starfox, your the best

As you probably know from some of the other reviews above, the storyline centers around dinosaurs and putting the planet back together. Gamers who come at this looking for another sci-fi shooter will be sadly dissapointed, as this game stalks Zelda in playing style and genre. The graphics are all exceptional (some of the best!) and the music is absolutely sensational (particularly the scores in places like Thorntail Hollow, Cape Claw and Krazoa Palace) The voices are well done and acted within a realistic sense and not over dramticized. The only complaint I have is that twice when I moved the camera, these colored lines would cover 60% of the screen, clearly a bug from Tricky's programming.(Tricky is your dinosaur companion for the game.) Otherwise the programmers convey a seemless world, with a changing landscape and history. The varying tribes- the Snowhorns, Thorntails, Earthwalkers, Cloudrunners, Redeye, Hightops, Lightfoots and Sharpclaw are well presented, with even a few miscallaneous and very nasty raptors thrown in. Two storylines abound when Fox must collect both the four Spellstones and eight Krazoa spirits and then return them to their rightful places. While this leads to quite a bit of temple-trotting, it doesn't feel tedious as the programmers mix things up to keep it interesting. Overall, this is what people mean when they talk about a quality game.

One last RARE game for the Gamecube.

This being the first and last Rare game for the gamecube, i was hoping that it would be good, and i was not let down. Let me just first say that Star Fox has the best graphics this side of resident evil (also for the gamecube) and it is a lovely game. The sound is topnotch adding to the varied gameplay reminscent of Zelda for the 64. The adventure aspects are very involving and will keep you into the game, I defiantly recomend this game to anyone, it is just plain good.

greatest graphics on any system but..............

Star Fox Adeventures has the best graphics on any system but.....
this just isn't Star Fox's best game in fact the game itself is pretty lame. Rare should have made this a first-person shooter it might have held my interest a little longer. I have already quit playing this game but that might be because i just bought animal crossing and it's getting all my playtime right know. But that no excuse a great game will force you to play it and this game just doesn't do that. Nintendo should have made Star Fox themselves instead of giving the license to RARE!!!! I'm afraid that Fox McCloud and the Star Fox Team has been offically killed after this game. too bad after the great SNES and N64 games. Farewell Fox!!!
