BEST GAME I'VE EVER PLAYED! EVER!!!!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 3 / 6

This is definately the best game I ever played by about 5 miles. The character creation may take a while, but thats a good thing. There are thousands upon thousands of costume choices, dozens of power, origin, and archetype choices. The powers you can change and upgrade, and later get more. In the game, there are hundreds of gangs and orginizations to fight with ranged or melee attacks. If you don't like the controls, you can very easily change them with a simple options menu. The graphics are sweet and the gameplay is awesome. All in all, the best game I have EVER played.

Something you should play

It has been very long time since I have seen something really exciting and really innovative in computer gaming. The scenario is plain and simple for those who play rpg's you create your character with his/her special abilities you choosing from different classes you dress him/her choosing from hundreds of options and making thousands of combinations and you are almost there. All you need is a story THE STORY of your newborn super hero and his unique name. After this the big fun is out there in the city of Heroes. Bad guys are in the streets and your task is known as an old computer gamer but soon you will find out that you are not alone in this magic world. Lots of other unique super heroes are out there ready to make teams super groups or even coalitions. You are unique in a world of unique colorful super heroes from all over the world ready to become your friends what else would you call fun? The price of subscription is normal accordingly to other on line games.
From all my games I think this is something exceptional and worthy to buy. The interface is easy and the chat options fantastic. I strongly recommend this title to anyone who can control his gaming addictions.

good for the first few months

this game has taken a huge nosedive over the year. when this game was release in april 2004 (i think it was then) it was amazing. me and all my friends were addicted. i remember when we did our first task force the first weekend of release. it was positron's TF and it was incredibly challenging. i believe it took us 12 hours strait to finish the entire thing. even though we were passing out in our chairs it was still so awesome. the teammwork that was involved is amazing.

and now...the game is incredibly boring and repetative. sadly, the game is almost dead. blizzard has taken over the mmorpg market with the release of WoW. i quit CoH since the release of WoW but i still have my account. i logged on CoH 2 days ago and found hardly anyone playing. hell, i was part of the biggest supergroup on our server and it's practically deserted. i couldnt even find anyone who wanted to team even on my empathy defender. i think about 90% of the people who left CoH are now on WoW. not to mention it is a grueling process to get to lvl 50. anyways i may pick up CoV because some friends are going to play that. maybe, just maybe Cryptic can put some life back into their once great game.

Beware before you purchase!

Recently purchased this game as a gift for my teenager. Make sure your system has the proper requirements before buying. I thought we had a good sound/video card and have been told that it needs to be upgraded. That and the $14.95 monthly subscription should be prominently labeled on the package and on this site!

Terrible

I agree with the previous reviewer that says the service is terrible. This game takes a top line computer or else it runs slow. Missions are the same over and over again. There is no customer service. My personal experience with this game was BAD BAD BAD...Wait for everquest 2 or world of warcraft NC soft = Bad games

Graphics Card Warning

The game is fun, as far as I have played it, but I want to give everyone a warning. When they say that you have to have a GeForce 2 or ATI Radeon 8500 better, they mean ONLY these chipset video cards! If you have integrated graphics with an Intel chipset, you will not be able to run this game!

No gameplay variety

The main problem here is the gameplay. Combat, combat and more combat. And that's it.

Really. There is absolultely nothing else in the gameplay. No matter how much you like superheros, you are going to get bored eventually.

Fun Online Game! Looks good, runs great!

I read the reviews of this game before I purchased the game and tend to agree with the positive reviewers. This game is quite fun, and is definitely a good looking game. The graphics DO require a good graphics card, but the game is worth it because its FUN. I have had no compatibility problems, and I have had not any support problems. Technical support resolved my issue within 48 hours and I was sent out on my own to defend Paragon City!

City of Heroes is the Greatest Out There

I can't get over how many non-comic book fans are buying City of Heroes, then complaining that you won't like it unless you like comic books.

This was a game designed by comic book lovers, geared towards comic book lovers!

The character design is superb. From the various different power sets at your disposal to the thousands of different physical design combinations at your disposal, City of Heroes truly shines in allowing you to create a truly unique character.

The beginning levels are fairly boring. If you have trouble with controls, you can set your own controls via the options panel. The entire control layout is 100% customizable, and the graphics can easily be buffed in the control panel from 50% to 200% resolution. The only limit is your individual graphics card, and it's not the game's responsibility to give you a good card. I recently bought a Radeon 9800 Pro, and my game runs great on 200% graphics.

The game truly shines when you begin forming groups around level 6-7. That's when you can venture out from the safety of the two starting levels and really challenge some exciting bad guys. By level 11, you have three major bad-guy havens open to you (The Sewers, Perez Park, and Boomtown), and the game just keeps getting better.

The mission levels look the same depending on what you're fighting in. For instance, all wharehouses are essentially the same, as are all office buildings, all sewers, etc. However, the layout of each is randomly oriented.

Teaming up is great. I am always the head of my own team, and its fun mixing and matching different hero combinations in your groups. Forming supergroups (which can then tackle task missions) is fun as well.

All in all, this game is by-far the best MMORPG I have played. It is on par, in my opinion, with Everquest and Final Fantasy Online.

Right to the action!!!

Look up in the sky! Its a bird.. Its a plane... No, ITS YOU!!!

Have you ever dreamed of flight? Ever wanted to have incredible powers and be the hero? Have you ever wanted to fight back against tyranny and injustice but just didn't have the ability? This online game creates a visual paradise of heroic proportions and lets you wear the tights. You can be the superhero. You can save the day. You can have your dream in this MMORPG.

I bought this game the day it was released and have been hooked ever since. None of the other online games I have played (and there have been a lot) offer me what this one can. Your reward for being a hero, saving people, and going on adventures (missions) is experience and influence (What relates to currency in this game). With the new update features for higher levels and the talk of what is to come, I can think of no reason anyone wouldn't enjoy playing this game.

People claim that it is repetitive and they have to "grind out" the levels. I can only reply that as far as the repetitive issues go, the game is still in its infancy and expanding all the time. And as for as leveling, who wants reward without a challenge? They're not looking for a game they are looking for a handout. This game isn't for that. To them I say, if that's your ideal, good luck finding your instant gratification in a life that grants that few and far between.

I have a wide array of characters created on several different servers and enjoy to play them all as much as I enjoyed designing them.

I have been a comics fanatic since I was a kid, I am 38 as of this writing. But I think anyone with imagination or who can put themselves in a movie as the hero can have fun with this one, and its only going to get better. I highly recommend it.
