the best RPG ive ever played

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 1 / 2

i remember getting this game as a christmas present when i was 12? 13 maybe i dont really remember which, but anyway, my parents got it for me since i loved the first suikoden so much. well, this one's like that, except only about a million times better! the combat was very similar, and you saw the return of some of the characters in the first one. this game focuses a LOT on character development, and it feel like they're not there just for their strengh, but the characters in this game actually have a unpredictable personality to them. knowing what ive learned in history class, this game sound like its loosely based on the wars of ancient greece and such. this game really sucks you in, most likely because of the characters. sure, the graphics may mildly suck, but the storyline is incredible (game creators these days could learn from this). people are trying to sell this game for any price up to 300 dollars. well, i wouldnt sell my copy for all the money in the world. am i crazy? maybe. but about the game, is it good? its more than that. this is one of the best games i have ever played, and if you are thinking about buying it, dont think anymore and buy it. you will not regret it.

fun game, get all 108 characters

This game is 2D graphic. On your journey you will meet some characters that would help you. Some are playable and some would only do their job around the castle, or even both. Some characters you have to pick one over the other. Actually, if you could put them all it would be like 117 characters, I believe. But you're only limit to have 108. Overall it's a fun game, I recommend that you should play it. The graphic is improve from Suikoden 1. Also you could upload your old game from Suikoden 1 when you start Suikoden 2. The only different if you could get all the character from Suikoden 1 then you will meet the character that you played in Suikoden 1 on Suikoden. It do work, because I beat part 1 with all 108 without using any kind of codes, if any. I bought it for $20 mint when it came out and I can believe how much the price it when up to. So I'm saving all of my Suikoden 1, 2, 3. Since they're mint or near mint. Why sell it? It still doesn't worth it.

overall an awesome game. hehe... with a cast of over 118 characters, you will NEVER get bored of this game. somehow, it is also very educational. it teaches you about life, about people, business sense and many other things. with many different endings, the replay value of the game shoots way up. the main character's personality changes with your actions, giving more control for you, the player, to shape yuor character. also, the character will not say anything that yuo dont make him say (except in flash-backs). hundreds of plot twists and unexpected changes in direction await from the very beginning. so much to do! 118 characters to gather (there are actually much more, but it limits you to that many so you can choose your ideal army) so many mini-games and sidequests. if you have save data from the original Suikoden, thats another bonus! not only can you get a secret character (the hero from the original;Tir McDohl) but it unlocks even more plot twists. did i mention the 3 different battle modes? yup. you heard right. there's normal battles, like you would find in any other RPG, Duels, which are one on one battles between the Hero and other opponents, and all-out battles, as i call them. All-out battles are like fighting in a war. you have three types of untits; infantry, archer and magic, and 13 generals to command the units (if you can collect them all) as well as (if my math is correct)26 more that you can add to the generals' units to beef them up and give them special powers, like runes. continuing on, there are many unite attacks in the battle system. as you may have already guessed, a unite is when 2 or more characters combine their powers to unleash powerful attacks on enemies. i'm still trying to find them all out. another form of unite is with runes. runes provide magic power to the bearer and when the users magiv power is high enough, he or she can unite two equipped runes for extremely powerful and extremely useful attacks.

i could really go on forever about this game...there's so much to discover. i fear i am nearing my limit. just one last thing...

BUY THIS GAME!!!! hehe, thanks for reading. Sayonara

what i think.................

This game was and always will be awesome even with the cheats it's awesome but out where you said to collect the 108 stars of destiny to defeat the prince you made a mistake if you played the game which you probably did it actually goes before the fall of muse jowy stays behind to buy the hero some time (hero has no name of his own you must give him one or press determine without one and a random one will be chosen) but jowy is caputured and i guess he offers them a way into muse and annabell's head. When it comes to Versing Prince luca blight 3 groups attack him 1 lead by viktor 1 lead by flik and the other lead by the hero you get to do the 3 battle's you can lose the first 2 but not the 3rd but in the end it's a 1 on 1 duel (you know those rock paper scissor things) to the death. Before the fight with luca blight Jowy married his sister making him king so he is the enemy now not luca (I know of a way to make jowy a friend again but it's at the end of the game) Ok finally there are more than 108 stars there are in fact 112 stars if you count the ones that dont stay for a while if not there are only 109 stars the extra stars are 2 creatures that look like mukumuku acuired by walking on the road between greenhill and two river 1 but you have a choice between him or sigfried cause he requires a listening crystal he is in the tinto mines and mcdohl for him you need suikoden data or Xploder (I think these are Ileagal now)

Thank you

its awesome

If you don't buy this game now, you are a crackhead. This is easily the best RPG ever to grace any videogame system. This game FAR surpasses anything even today. The only complaints I would have with this game are the result of future suikodens giving fans what they asked for. Namely jeane as a playable character, more of her boobs and less clothing. Mcdhol makes an appearance in this as you can load the save game from the first suikoden- a very original idea. Much of what needs to be said has been said by others. If you don't add this game to your collection you belong in a psyciantric hospital.

Annoying game

I think the story is redicolous and predictable.
I HATED Nanami, as a matter of fact, I hated A LOT of the characters that are supposed to be my friends in the game.
The battle system was good though, fast and easy to use.

I hate the questions with two answers, and you are FORCED to answer one question to continue the game.
Example, hero and friends captures two enemies.
You can choose between "Cut off their heads" and "Let them join us."
Of course "Cut off their heads!" is the top answer, and when you accidently hit it, your "friends" throw a fit about the fact that you shouldn't do that!
Another example is that Nanami wants to join you, telling her no makes her throw a fit until you say yes.
This destroyed the flow of the game.

The cast seemed a bit redicolous, most of the characters are kids/teens fighting a big army.

If the game was less annoying, I might have liked it.

Fans of the series will tell you its worth the money it's going for but I think if you missed Suikoden II, you missed it. Suikoden 3 is better afterall. Even the reviewers will tell you. I'm not saying this is a bad game, it was actualy a very good one, but it's not worth shelling out 150 dollars for.

If you haven't played the first one buy it otherwise...

Great game but a complete copy of the first one(which isn't a bad thing). I wish the graphics could have been improved on a little bit being that they are carbon copy of the first one (which didn't have great graphics either) 108 character makes for a lot of fun although it happens to be the exact number of characters in the first one. Also the more characters you get the bigger you base gets (just like in the first one). This game is a good game. A 8.0 out of 10.0. This game is not anywhere close to a 10!

Sequel to the BEST RPG!

If you haven't yet gotten this game, get it! I've played all kinds of games until I came across Suikoden 1. It was what got me hooked to RPG's. I got Suikoden 2 as soon as it came out and played it! It is the greatest game next to Suikoden 1.

For the gamers out there who are really die-hard fans for RPG's, this is something you want to check out. You must've all heard of the Final Fantasy series, right? Well, let me tell you this: I have all the FF series from FF4 to FF8 and FF Tactics for PlayStation, and Final Fantasy can NOT hold a candle up to Suikoden's (both 1 and 2! ) storyline! Sure the graphics are great, but if you're looking for CONTENT, look no further. Suikoden 2 is what you've been searching for. (And if you haven't gotten Suikoden 1 yet, get that too.)

This is a game that you do NOT want to miss!
