The game is not fun. It has nice graphics but they're never enough to carry a game. After all this time the game still has major coding flaws and failures like line of sight (which totally ruins and invalidates many major aspects of the game like sieges.) The classes will never be balanced. Population dispersement is a major issue when you have 3 realms with x, y, and z amount of people that can't switch sides. What happens when x + y < z? Z wins. Forced teams were a very bad idea.

Once you hit the max level, 50, the game is over. There's nothing to do. This new expansion is nothing more than a weak attempt at encouraging current players to reroll as a new class or race in order to keep them occupied until they reach the nirvana of boredom that is DAoC's post-50 endgame.

Save your money, a new crop of games are coming out in this genre over the next 6 months. Play Tetris while you wait.

was stuck on 48 champ then purchased si and with the advent of tur sil and epic dungeon was albe to get to 50 within a short period of time.
However once reached 50 and a tad of rvring cancled the account.
i tried for 3 weeks in different areas and servers to find groups but had a very hard time since so many folks now running two accounts and have there own bot.
It is wonderfuly laid out adds much more to do to daoc but it wont keep u on the level hamspter wheel tread mill if already had enough and want to move on

I laughed, I cried, I passed out from boredom. The game has always been almost complete. SI appears to make it almost more complete. It's almost enough to stick with it. There is only so much to do before you are back doing it all again. Once you have done it all a few dozen times there is nothing more to do. I even voted Dzza for TL a few times with no real in game impact. The Vaun/Kunkoh star quests and Shaggy/Space battles are the only things new and fresh at this point. If they would only balance out the VN aspect I would call the game more complete. Hot celt women make it more enjoyable, but they always kill me. Oh well. Cheezits anyone?

Horrible balance, research before playing

A solid and fun game, but with horrible balance between classes and realms. Some classes are great fun to level and competitive in the end game rvr. Others are total gimp and have been for the past year. Mythic is not responsive to this, and choosing a bad realm or character class will turn the game into 100% frustration. Research well before comitting to a realm or class, as it is very unlikely that the blatant balance issues will ever be addressed at this stage.

Buy this game!!!

This game is so much fun, and when the new patch and expansion releases my bet is that it will explode in population! Despite the fact that mythic still have some bug and exploits to get rid of this is the best rpg game I have ever tried (and I've tried quite alot ;)).. This IS however a social game, so if you are a loner or simply dont know how to behave yourself you'll find it hard to improve your chars because noone will help you or group with you. On the other hand, if you can uphold basic decency and are willing to help fellow strugglers you'll find this game very rewarding and fun (imagine running with 200 other peeps into a lair to slay a dragon, with warriors standing in the frontline and archers and mages standing in the background lauching arrows and chanting)... It is almost customary (on the excalibur server where I play at least) to help newcommers in any way possible (money and items) because of the fact that we all fight together against the evil forces of the other realms. And the fact that this game requires a monthly fee is only a good thing... How is that you ask? Well think about it, 50 Euro for 6 months isnt really alot of money (depending) but it will however eliminate lamers and youngsters that otherwise ruines the game for so many ppl (remember Lord Of Destruction? RIP). This was my 2 cents... be carefull however... highly addictive ;)

For everyone who is into RPG games, this is a great game for you. You naturally have the choice of different servers which are usually packed with 1000 people or more in each one, once you choose your server you have the choice of your realm Hibernia which are full of mistical elves and normal celtic humans, Albion(my favorite) the realm of knights and wizards, and Midgard home of the powerful Vikings, game play is sweet, people are nice and helpful, almost unlimited ways of customizing your character. Graphics are great, and the details of castles and keeps are amazing, downsides, it take some time to lvl up your character but nowhere near the time it takes in Everquest, slight warining though, ITS VERY ADDICTIVE! so be careful. In conclusion i would recommend this game to anybody, and if your like me who loves medieval history and folke loar, this game puts you right in a medieval mythical world full of quests and adventure. GREATEST RPG EVER!

This game is so awesome imagine you are in dark times you can use a wizard (a magical folk) a fighter (hand to hand combat) or many other characters. There are 3 realms albion, hibernia, and midgard, they are all even except each has 1 thing that the other doesn't you can interact with other people in all the realms and u may battle in a group but you wont gain a level until u get a certain amount of experience Have Fun! and o yeah dont die alot hehe if you see me in realm vs. realm you better look out!

Mythic Entertainment failed it. Once it been a great game, but then the developpers decided to nerf classes left and right. Instead of nerfing them to bring them inline with other classes they nerfed them into oblivion. Issues which are uncovered in beta state don't get fixed till way after going gold. Issues with classes (such as enchanters) don't get fixed for at least half year though many customers complained about it.

Little tip for new players: Don't start on servers where you have more than 2000 players playing during prime time. You'll experience bad lag and even worse: you'll experience crashes of the whole server so that you won't be able to play the game for another 10 minutes (and then it's not safe to assume that the server won't crash again).

Mythic is a horrible company. They are in it for the money. With all the nerfing, broken promises and extremely poor PR (Sanya) its obvious they don't care one bit about the game. Money is better spent elsewhere. This expansion is just a graphic upgrade and things Mythic promised would be free but instead are forcing people to purchase the expansion.

A all together outstanding game. Mythic put together a awesome group of programmers and art design crew for this expansion. The updated graphics engine made the difference between the old DAoC and the new expansion. Not only are the graphics improved but Mythic has expanded the horizon of classes and races. If you are a big MMORPG player I highly recommend this expansion to DAoC.
