Newbies will like this - much better than SWG

If you have never played this type of game, DAOC is for you. I thought is was pretty dumb when my boyfriend brought it home. Now I am addicted.

Of course, I had some good luck. I am in a great guild with really cool people. I have really enjoyed my experience.

If you are choosing between this and SWG buy this one. SWG is boring and complicated. You can get into this game quickly and really start to enjoy it.

An astoundingly good game!

Don't listen to the naysayers. I've played Everquest, Asheron's call, and beta tested many more. This is, by far, the BEST game of it's kind available!
I'm not saying it's perfect, far from it. There are issues. But let's face it, it's been out only a year now. It's much better than any other fantasy game on the market, bar none!
You will not be dissapointed if you purchase this game. It comes with one month free subscription so you can give it a whirl without giving up your credit card right away (but I took a 6 month subscription right away and will renew!)
Thier customer service is top notch! I've never had a request go unanswered and I've been thanked quite a few times for reporting bugs.
For a first time online gamer this is perfect. It's also good for long time players as the RvR areas will test your nerve and your tactical skills.
Play and enjoy!

Very Addictive!

This game is great! I had to give it up for a few months to get rid of my addiction, I was eating, sleeping and dreaming DAoC and SI. Terrible. Now that I have cured myself, I can tell others about it. I started with this game after stealing my boyfriends empty slot. Loved my thane there and decided to build a comptuter so I could play it at home. I think the graphics are good, with improvements coming all the time. They recently implemented a new "bind" and "leveling" graphic that is kinda cool. The RvR can be a pain in the ... but that is all a part of the game. I recommend going to a DAoC sight before creating any characters though, they have good tips on how you should use your "points". I would recommend this game and DAoC, since ya need both to play, to anyone that has a little time to kill. And since you have many servers to choose from, you can always change realms at will.

Broken expansion and broken patches

After purchasing a second PC to play this game I purchased an upgraded video card just to load this expansion.

What followed was two months of troubleshooting, trying to solve the problems with patches 1.58 and 1.59.

I finally gave up and cancelled both of my accounts. Mythic and their "tech support" was no help.

Although I did enjoy the game when I was able to play, the constant updating of the software is a problem when there is little apparent testing of new code.

Shrouded Isles

Shrouded Isles offers some new pve areas to the original DAOC areas, also lets you teleport to different places. Can't say I like the way the game has gone since this came out, in '02 or so, began to feel too restrictive, maybe gated would be a better word. It's a good expansion of the original game. I'd have prefered player controlled horses, or something, to the teleporters. Travel is centered around teleporters now, especially with new frontiers(free expansion for rvr).
