Truly poor multiplayer

First things first. I am a 45 year old guy that still plays the occasional video game with my son-in-law or son if he's in town.

Second, I am a HALO2 fan but lately avoid XBOX Live due to the nasty little children that always seem to be there and only also seem to know one word. Now, if Master Chief could just wash their foul little mouths out with soap that would indeed be "sweet".

Now. GRAW is simply poorly done. This only refers to multiplayer on XBOX Live. You will find that you must wait for everything. Wait for XL to find a game, wait to be allowed into the game, wait while XL finds another game after the host bails out.

Yes, the graphics are nice, yes the controls are different from other games (HALO2 specifically). XBOX Live multiplayer is simply frustrating and annoying. I'm glad I didn't pay a ton of money for this thing, it simply isn't worth it.

Save Your Money - DONT BUY THIS GAME

I've played just about every game in the Tom Clancy Series on playstation, PC and now X-Box. Therefore, its obviously an understatement to say I've always been pleased with the games.

This however is a disaster.

Simply put its quite possibly the most over-rated game I've ever played.

Sound is excellent, graphics good, but game play horrible. Previous games in this series have focused on realism, strategy and skill. This one doesn't live up to its predecessors.

As this title has been highly touted for "the next generation console" X-Box 360 I guess I would expect more and something closer to realism. To give an example: After completing the training and your opening mission you are instructed to fly into Mexico to search for the missing President of the United States who was on a visit to Mexico. You are positioned in an open door of a helicopter with a heavy machine gun and under attack from various Mexican rebels shooting mostly with rifles. These rebels while taking heavy fire from your weapon barely seek cover, rarely react to this barrage and at times are hit squarely by your fire and don't respond. Hardly next genereation AI. The helicopter apparently is not equipped with any other weaponry, you have no "teamates" supporting you so it merely is a shootout. Its tedious and does nothing to mimick reality. After all you are part of a special forces group attempting to rescue the President and all you have is one helicopter circling an area with a machine gun?

Your "teamates" are useless. Besides running into your field of fire during firefights, they do NOTHING. If you direct them to an area they'll follow your orders and then fight...while standing up in the open taking fire. No attempt to take cover, no rhyme or reason to providing suppressive fire. They literally just stand there and fire until they're hit and you have to attempt to rescue them.

No strategy, no realism. I could cite further examples but you get the picture.

Do yourself a favor. Save your money and wait for a real game like Call of Duty 3.

B rate game killed by Bugs

I have played this game to my end point something like 12 times. This took like 6 hours. How did it take 30 minutes to beat it? Simple. Every time that I called in an Apache to take out a tank, it would come in low, sweep around the tank, and then leave without firing a shot, never to return. The tank that it should have killed then murdered the president of mexico, ending the game. w00t. 1337, dude. $2 per minute of first time through gameplay is the worst deal on a video game that I have ever gotten, hands down. If I had paid $30 for Doom95 Freeware, that would have been a better deal. Also, leading up to this point, I fell through several obscure patches of dirt into hewhaY (also known as avoheJ, hallA, or doG), the creatorless zone; hence the name. I don't know how many bugs there would or would not have been in the rest of the game, but it seems that there were at least a few.

It doesn't matter how good a game you can't play is.

DO NOT BUY!!!

After doing some homework before buying this game. At amazon, many reviews gave it 4 - 5 stars. At gamespot, it received 9.2 rating. I purchased this game and I was very disappointed with this game.
I really do not understand what is my role in this game as a FPS. Most of the shooting is done by my team mate but not me, all I do is ordering them to move forward and do the work while I do nothing, If I move in front of them, I am sure the game will finish sooner. So what I am doing in this game?
after owning this game for 3 months, I still struggle to understand the game play. I do not enjoy it at all. I wish I can give it to the next person for $3.00.

I Bought this game with the intention of seeing amazing graphics and spectatular next gen action, and well, that isnt what i got. I play on A Panasonic HDTV and this game does not match up to Next Gen HD graphics, its just like Ghost recon 2, This game is not worth the buy

Theres too many button combinations and commands to make this game move from the realm of "cool" to being "fun." If you are a current or ex-soldier then you'll probably love it as its a pretty realistic simulation of squad based combat. If you're looking for a game to just turn on and blow stuff up mindlessly, this wont be your cup of tea. Dont get me wrong, its good, but it seems geared more toward hardcore gamers than casuals (which I am). Besides, not being able to jump and melee really bugs me. So it depends what you like. The graphics are cool, but the gameplay's fun will depend where your tastes lie.

Good game. I have some gripes, but some are subjective. You may or may not agree.
CONS
1) [...] There are too many little distracting blips, shapes and colors on the screen. Some serve absolutely no purpose whatsoever; some served a purpose at one time (enemy vehicles) but don't anymore (empty enemy vehicles) yet they remain onscreen and are distracting.
2) too many command options and options in general. There are too many things you need to do, buttons to press to get something done. I forgot which button to press half the time or pressed the wrong button. Not completely intuitive. The tutorial level would help IF there were not so much of this.
3) friendly AI (your squad) is dumb. Previous GR games had your squad killing most of the enemies 5 seconds before you even knew they were there. Now they are often painfully dumb and all of them end up getting shot 10 seconds into any mission. You'll be patching them up OFTEN. I ended up often not sending them anywhere because I knew they would just get shot.
4) GRAB COVER. This is a new feature of many of these next-gen games (such as Gears of War). Go up to a wall in this game, you get glued to it. I get what they're trying to do here, but it's difficult for me to get used to. You get glued to a wall in inopportune close-combat moments, can't move freely fast enough and end up getting killed.
5) No "Save Anywhere" ability. This is a major gripe, because you'll be repeating the same damn thing over and over and over again, and perhaps not because YOU did anything wrong - maybe your stupid teammate did or a VIP stood out in the open waiting to get shot.
6) Grenades. Awful. They suck. This is actually a downgrade from all other Ghost Recon and Clancy games IMO. There is little control (uses a color system) over the exact distance the grenade will be thrown and it needs to be very close to an enemy to do damage. Ubisoft (and other games) uses an intuitive grenade system for Splinter Cell, why can't they do it here?

1&2 criticisms above are basically that the game is "too busy" - and this is coming from a seasoned veteran of Ghost Recon and Clancy titles in general (played 'em all for xbox). But that may be the point of the "advanced" part of the title, so the criticism may not be valid for you. 4) Again, I don't like GRAB COVER, you might. I especially don't like AUTO-GRAB COVER (used in this game). Give me a choice to do it or not.

PROS
1) solid next gen effort
2) appreciate the variety of items/vehicles. Tanks, UAVs, helicopters, and you can control them all. They took away things like lazing targets, but that's okay.
3) I like the helicopter gunner missions. Feels like I'm in Full Metal Jacket.
4) even though i find the HUD distracting and busy, there are some genuine upgrades over past GR and Clancy franchise titles...

GRAW = fans will love it, newcomers beware

This game has probably the toughest learning curve of any computer game I have ever played - and I have been playing them since Dungeon Adventure in 1991. The level of detail in this simulation - 1st person (with 3rd person view, overview for ordering members of your kill squad, what I call "GOD Mode." While games like HALO2 or QUAKE4 can be popped in the Xbox360 and started, played and enjoyed within 5 minutes or so, this game *requires* that the player is either familiar (very, very familiar) with its interface and already ready to rock, or prepare to be frustrated.

I read the manual. I will add here that the photo included of the control pad and what the different buttons do is *LAUGHABLY* small. The font is smaller than I have ever seen, even with a decent magnifying glass I couldnt clearly see what they were indicating (button Y does what? I cant see that dot - font literally font size 2). After reading the manual, I decided to try to play the game. I played the introduction and player training scenario set at "easy" and still couldnt get past this after an hour of play time. At the same time Quake 4 had me sucked in and rocking, shooting, ducking etc.

GRAW has decent potential but be ready for a steep learning curve, a lot of frustration (unless you are already a fan and user of the earlier versions) and a lot of practice before you find yourself able to enjoy this game.

Good game let down by flaws

When i first played this game i found it to be a very impressive showcase for what my X-box 360 is capable of. Well i was half right, you see the game does look good, the graphics ain't the problem it's the horrible bugs and awful framerate that are the biggest problems with this squad based shooter. I had to restart the game three times during one session because of bugs, i mean it's just not on. Another problem is the AI of your squad, you give them an order (The few orders there is) and they just start running around like headless chickens. The enemy AI is also bad, they start firing at you before they even see you and there appears to be no jump which can be exteamly annoying. It's not all bad it can be a very engaging experience but you have to be prepared to put up with some very annoying bugs and glitches. If your a fan of the Ghost Recon games then you'll more than likely look past the bug's and just get on with it but if your new to the series then i suggest you buy Call Of Duty 2 or wait for Splinter Cell: Double Agent instead.
