Fastest paced game ever - the best action I've ever seen

This game will bewilder you by its speed alone. I know the storyline and the single player mode lacks, but the extremely fast yet smooth play during the multiplayer is guaranteed to raise your heart-rate. This is the best multiplayer First Person Shooter (FPS) game ever.

.... The multiplayer game is the best part, by far. I played the single player game, and wasn't too impressed, but then i played 4 player multiplayer with the multitap, and it was unbelievable. The game adds other people, so you never have to find someone to shoot (like in BOND), they're all over the place. This is one of my favorite games. There are so many levels to unlock in single player, which I recently realized is also awesome. You can even create your own level. This game is really cool, and definetely worth getting.

Must have game

This is one of the best games to come out for the PS2 so far. Single player is definately weak. However single player is just for opening up more options and characters and get used to the controls. Multiplayer is easily the best part, with numerous game modes and interesting levels. At first the controls are tough, but become extermely useful once you have them down. The graphics are quite good, not as good as PC games but still good, and also run at a good frame rate even where there are 4 players and 10 bots.

I can't believe that some people don't like this game!

There is one thing I have to say about this game--I can't believe some people don't like it! I was very surprised to read some of the bad reviews posted here. I've been playing Goldeney for years, and Perfect Dark more recently, and I would have to say that this is the best console shooter. It beats Rare's shooters by the plain fun factor--the Multiplayer truly is a blast. I've seen better graphics on the PS2, but the speed and total lack of slow-down (unlike Unreal Tournament, the PS2 version is truly slow) makes up for it. And don't think you only need this game if you have four controllers and a Multi-tap. I've been playing multi with only two players, and its just as fun. And I'm not even mentioning the level-editor. The only flaw, which many people have griped about, are the controls, which are hard to get used to. But they are customizable, so problem solved--I just changed them to be more like Goldeneye and Perfect Dark.

So enough of my yapping, go out and but it!

Golden Eye and Perfect Dark move over!

I have been a huge fan of the N64 first person shooter games. My friends and I played both Golden Eye and Perfect Dark over and over for countless hours of fun. But fortunately they have been 1 upped by a simply amazing game called Time Splitters. This was one of 3 games I got for PS2 and I simply love it. The graphics are gorgeous and the levels are amazing and huge. First I would like to warn that this game is a multi-player party game mainly. If your looking for a deep 1 player story mode this game doesnt have it. The 1 player mode is used to access more multi-player levels. These levels are every FPS gamers multi-player dream. Levels like the "Village" are stunning. The capture-the-bag mode is incredibly fun with you and some friends battling some Zombies in an all out war. The main part of the game that I want to touch on is the control scheme. If you have been playing Golden Eye or Perfect Dark for a year than you will simply hate the controls at first. I stress "at first". It is controlled by using the right analog stick to look and the left stick to move forward, back, and strafe left and right. But I got the hang of it after about 4 rounds of playing. Aiming up and down is still abit of a chore but these controls are perfect once you get the hang of them. After a while of playing you can even create your own level to play in Multi-player. While this is limited to a certain tile set and to indoors, it can break up the monotony of the other levels (which aren't very monotonous to begin with). The memory of how big the level can be is limited as well but I have created a 7 level capture-the-bag tower which i constantly play. This game is worth every penny and I highly suggest it to anyone with a PS2.

Owning this game is like owning 2 or 3 games in one. The single player story is the weakest (mainly because there is no story-grab the bag/brain/whatever and get back out), but for a time killer this game is incredible. The graphics are great (although the walls tend to "throb" like you dropped acid), sound is good and the music is servicable. What I like best is the great amount of customizing you can do on the game, from chosing the weapons to the Computer controlled enemies in Arcade mode. The harsh part of the game is a large amount of modes and playable characters "locked out" of the game until you master certain boards. I had to look at a cheat book-Complete the tomb level in under a minute for paint ball mode? Who are they kidding? Another bonus- you can make your own damn boards.

Ok, I changed my mind

At first I thought this game was a terrible waste of my money, but then I got used to the controls, and got a few more characters... basically figured out how to play the game.

I still like Perfect Dark better as a game, but Time Splitters kicks the snot out of PD when it comes to graphics, and I love the map maker.

One of the PS2 MUST haves!!!

This game is sick. I've had it for about three months now, and I've played this game at least 3 hours a week. The missions aren't that great, but just sitting there in the tomb with a double M16, blasting zobies heads off is just incredibly fun! If your looking for a good first person shooter get this. Otherwise get Unreal Tournament is just as good, but better weapons.

An Artistic, unique game; but could use a story

When I played this game for the first time, I was amazed at how comfortable it felt and how close to Goldeneye that it was. (considering it was made by FREERadical, the team that did Goldeneye.) This game has everything from some of the most successful and amazing shooters out to date all rolled into one. It has a long list of weapons, tons of levels, 56 characters to choose from, and even a mapmaker where you can create your own deathmatch arena with a special editor. And if you thought most shooters were slow and dragged out, this is the game for you because it is the fastest shooter around. You cannot walk 5 feet without being shot by something. The only real flaw I found with it was the fact there is no story; you just run through random areas completing missions with no basis of reason. But this game doesn't really require a story; no one would pay attention to it anyway because the game is so fast. And for such a low price, it is a must buy for any hardcore shooter fan. Grab a copy. I think it is reasonable that you will love it.

best multiplayer fps o the market

ok I know a bunch of goldeneye fanboys will rush up to me and kick the crap out of me when I say this, but it is 100% true. TimeSplitters is the best multiplayer first person shooter on the market. It is blindingly fast, has awesome graphics, and cool weopon design. The characters are funny lookin too. the amazing thing is that this game never drops below 60fps!! very very smooth. the only bad things are that the 1 player mode needs some fresh air and the control might daunt you. I actually prefer the control but some people hate it. it just takes some getting used to. the level designs are cool too.
overall I think it does not beat goldeneye and perfect dark in the 1 player category, but the multiplayer is much better.
