Awesome Online Game!!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 8 / 14

Very action-oriented game. No sitting around and talking around a campfire or other boring online activities that define the MMO genre. You get in, group up and go on a mission. You can play this for 5 minutes or 5 hours and still have a great time - nothing out there is this accessible. Great job.

Was Fun, Now It Is Not Worth Your Time

This game was fun until PlayNC purchased it.

To stop the practice of higher level players "running" low levels to the town with the best armor, the game designers decided to fill the path between the two towns with so many monsters that nobody can get through there. The problem is, THERE ARE MISSIONS that require regular (non-running/cheating) players to go through those same paths. Thus you CAN NOT complete your missions.

Also, same as with City of Heroes, they continue to reduce power after power in this game, so that your characters get weaker and weaker.

Avoid games by PlayNC. They are terrible at customer service and constantly trample on their paying customers in order to "correct" something a few people exploit. A much more sensible thing to do would simply be to restrict these towns by player level, but then that makes too much sense.

PlayNC = The masters at turning Fun into Frustration. Save your money, unless you want to see something you spent 12 months of your time building destroyed instantaneously. Even Microsoft treats their customers better than PlayNC.

One of the Best gaming experiences

I have been playing RPG games for more than 15 years and online gaming for at least 10 years running. I am very satisfied with this game because it gives to the user what so many other games have lacked in the recent years and if you are Role Playing game fan like AD&D and the like then this is the game for you!!
From the graphics down to the animation of characters is spectacular to say the least and no you are not forced to walk a certain way and you do not run into invisible walls in this game.
I have been playing this game for 2 weeks now and have a LVL 16 Warrior/Ranger with a snow wolf by my side that is lvl 14. There is always someone willing to team up with you on missions, quest and the like and the Player vs Player mode can be accessed either through regular game play or PvP selection.
I have not gotten bored once with this game and now my family is starting to play it too!
This is exactly what gaming experience should be and you shouldn't have to dish out money for a game and then more money just to play it and Guild Wars answers that call.

MISSING SOMETHING

Okay, Im not an MMORPG guru. Im 30 years old and work full time. As a result I dont have a lot of free gaming time. I buy lots of games and usually after maybe a day or two I lose interest unless it blows me away. If it doesnt. On my shelf it sits collecting dust. Sadly this game is falling in the latter. First off lets get the good stuff out of the way. The character designs are beautiful. They look like they came out of a fashion model magazine. Which if I want to be picky, they dont give me the impression of people who are at war. More like actors playing war. But thats nit picky. I like the pretty characters. Especially the Milla Jovavich Necro look a like. Also some of the interface is nice. I like that I can just jump to a town without having to walk allllll the way back. I also like that you can dual class and that you can draw on your minimap stratergies like football plays. And did I mention its free!! Well that about all the good stuff. Heres the bad. Okay the enviornments are booooring and bland. The NPC's are boring. And unless you are in a group if you leave a city its all instances. Instances are copies of locations kind of like your own personal world. So when you leave by yourself you are by yourself. Boring. I dont like having to wait around a city just to find someone to play with. Also there is no logic to the quests and some of the helpers are no help. I tried to locate a trainer got sent to one and after that everyone sent me to her even though she would not give me any information. So I asked her and she sent me somewhere but as I was trying to find it I would ask further ahead and and NPC would send me back to the first girl. AARGH. and the map OMG. As useful as the minimap is the normal map is the opposite. You can hardly tell where you are going. The view is like a topographic aerial photo. So when you get into an area with a lot of twists and turns its hard to navigate. I also have a problem with controls. Now while I do like the click anywhere and the character will go. I hate that you have to walk all the way around a path because your character cant jump off any edges no matter how low it is? Actually your character cant jump period unless you type /jump. Also here is a game that came with a headset with instruction on how to set it up but not how to link with other people? Whats the point then. I was really hoping to like this game (especially since it is free) But I would rather play World of Warcraft with there go anywhere interface easy to read maps and roads. Logical quests and overall fun experience. Yes I have to pay but Its worth the price. I like to be able to go to an area filled with monsters realize Im getting my butt kicked and see someone walk by and ask if they want to party. I like that if I dont want to party I can go on my merry way and still have fun. What probably bothers me the most is that these are the same guys who have made City of Heroes and a lot of other MMORPG and Blizzards first attempt at an MMORPG blows them away. It looks like it should be a great game but like I said Its missing that "thing" to make it great. So for me its just okay. 3 out of 5

Acoustically, visually, and catagorically one of the best games to come out this year! Lineage II is nice but the game play nauseatingly drags with hours of farming involved! This game has the beauty that W.O.W. lacks and the playability L2 lacks rolled into one hulluvah game!

This is a great online game with no monthly fees. It has RPG and PvP modes and can easily have you hooked for hours. The game is constantly being patched with improvements. I am real happy with this game and highly recommended it to anyone who enjoys online RPG.

Best Online RPG out there

I've seen a lot of comparisons between World of Warcraft (WoW) and Guild Wars. There is no comparison, the games are for different types of people.

If you like power-leveling, camping, looting, etc, than WoW is for you.

If you like waiting for patches to download and server crashes and queues, than WoW is for you.

BUT if you want a good GAME, with great graphics, a wonderful interface and decent RPG gameplay, than Guild Wars may be for you!

Let's start with the interface: Guild Wars is the only online RPG I know of that you can play by just using your Mouse. Sure, you can use the WASD keys and Shortcuts and Numbers to quickly get to your powers, but you don't have to. Want to attack a Monster? Just click on it. To talk to that NPC to get a mission (handedly known by a large exclamation (!) floating over his head), just click on him.

Why other online games haven't made their interface easier is beyond me. WoW, for example, makes you click on a creature, then click on an attack to actually do something. Oh, wait, my warrior is out of range? Geez, make me press W to run up to him and then click to attack. Hogwash.

The other great thing about Guild Wars is you cannot go wrong with your character. There are about 107 powers or so per character (at least), and you can switch them out anytime you're in a town. You can also re-spend your skill points in towns, so you'll never be stuck with skills you don't want.

Peopel may complain about the lack of other players in the Missions or outside towns (the only people will be the ones you invited to join your group). I think the pluses (no camping, looting, etc) outweigh the Negatives (you can only meet people in town). How many times have you played a a MMORPG and killed a high level creature, only to have someone else take the treasure? Won't happen here, Treasure drops are divided automatically by the computer. (You can always trade with your group if they get something you want).

Bottom line, with no monthly fee, you can't go wrong with this game. If you've been wanting to get into the Online Gaming craze, but have been scared off by monthly fees and having to compete with god-like Level 50+ characters, than Guild Wars is for you.

Oh yeah, and you can have some NICE costumes, too!

Not since CS first came out have I been so obsessive about this game. Amazing graphics, good PvE game play, an engaging story arc, and possibly the best PvP experience I've ever had.
Be it a random arena, Tombs or Guild vs Guild battles, I find it intense, strategic and highly entertaining.
This game is easily one of the best PvP games I've ever played.

Guild Wars - Diablo2 with Better graphics

Guild Wars has a good story and Graphics are superbly done! The only thing it's missing is the rendered cut scenes from diablo2. Online connection is reliable and most of all its FREE! Free online play for a game of this quality is a great value. It plays like diablo2 and for those that never played it I will explain. You choose your character profession and customize your look, then you start to play collecting new stronger clothes, better weapons, & upgrading learned skills. Teaming up with others is a nice touch to this game over diablo2 and its very fair how things are distibuted.

Great Game!!!

This is one of the best games out there right now. It is a great alternative to WOW, since there are no monthly fees. They are constantly updating the game, and even support the original game as well as the expansion(s). A great by at a great one time price!
